  1. Cleaning it on the car will do something but it's not going to be nearly as good as taking it off. Take the TB off! Yeah, it can look good while it's on the car but seriously, there's more than you realize....take a look at what I found: Do you really think you could get all that off without removing the TB? NO! If you want to really clean it, take it off. Just my 2 cents. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/EFI/throttlebody.html
  2. Worn starter, weak or dying battery, worn distributors & caps......it could be many things. I wouldn't worry about it until it doesn't start ;)
  3. I always put in the highest there is....usually it's 91 or 93 around here. I don't mind paying a few bucks more for the higher octane.

The LS is one of the most reliable cars around. I would not hesitate to take it, assumming it's had routine maitenance. Just do a basic overview as Blake said. Have fun!
  5. Ummm, how are you going to rebuild the ECU?
  6. Anything is possible......it would require LOTS of wiring as SW said, and possibly more components to make it work. It's NOT a simple plug and play deal. Nav option was first introduce in 98.
  7. It'll be very similar to my tutorial. Just make sure you take good notes on how the wires are connected cuz I don't know if they're the same. Torque on the plugs is the same.
  8. It's sweet you're getting a deal, but ehhh limo tint probably isn't legal..... :whistles:
  9. You already have this job done, right? So why would it matter? Technically, just about any time you work on the car the manual says to disconnect the battery, it's for safety. Of course it depends but many procedures start with disconnecting the battery.
  10. Welcome to LOC, , nice looking 91. I'm not sure about the manual you got but you can download an official manual from Toyota (TIS) for only $10... http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/repairmanual.html I've got some power steering tutorials on my site so check those out. I'm sure you'll find other helpful info there too, and of course, LOC has tons of great info if you search around for it. Enjoy!
  11. Good to hear. I had the same results after having a new rack installed, the steering felt brand new. Now if only the steering wheel looked better :(
  12. Interesting info. They may sell for the same price retail, but cost is another story. I bet the D1 costs the dealer is less and that's why they put that on. Good to hear both are OK to use.
  13. Looks like they put the wrong filter on, that sucks but it's not a huge deal. I'm not a mechanic so I can't tell you if it will or will not damage your engine. However, my guess is that it's not going to last as long. I would have them change it....for free of course!
  14. The fuel filter is on the driver's side in front of the rear wheel, it's under a metal cover: http://www.lexls.com/fuelfilter.html
  15. This is common with old cars, mine are bad too. You can't just put a newer model seat in. As the previous poster said, they are different. What you need to do is recover them. While doing that you put some extra foam in there and it should work like new. For a full interior leather kit plus install you would be looking at well over $1000....leather is expensive! Oh, and of course, if you really really want to put 97 LS seats in a 91 you could. It would just require serious modification and big bucks. IMO, you should just by a 97 LS!
  16. You have a great opportunity to install a nice aftermarket head unit. Buying a used 92 HU can cost an arm and a leg. It's really a matter of personal choice though. I prefer aftermarket, some prefer stock HU's, no big deal. If you go aftermarket here's what you'll need to know: http://www.lexls.com/head_unit.html
  17. If you're driving a Lexus you can afford the ten bucks for your own username ;)! Sorry I had to say it! Seriously though, it's a great resource, definitely sign up and download all the info for your car. HIGHLY recommended site!
  18. Yeah, it's quite simple: http://www.lexls.com/drivebelt.html FYI, there is a sticker under the hood that shows the proper routing of the belt ;)
  19. Welcome , you'll find lot's of good info and nice people here :D. Definitely check out my site too since you have a first gen. Enjoy your new LS! Carl
  20. If you're looking for LCD stuff I've got it all here: http://www.lexls.com/climateLCDscreen.html It's going to be hard to get a better deal on a remanufactured CCU. With only two part choices available, Jim's and the Denso part, they jack up the price for a tiny LCD screen :( . I've had one of Jim's screens in my car for well over a year now and it has survived two Minnesota winters. Yes, he is reputable.
  21. I've been telling people about TIS for a very long time now, I even wrote a webpage... http://www.lexls.com/repairmanual.html That page is the biggest link on my tutorials page BTW...because it's the most important!!!! I've done TIS twice now and seriously, it can take a REALLY long time...even with a 5mbs cable modem. They prevent you from doing all files at once, probably so someone doesn't just post an entire copyrighted manual online.....or maybe for bandwidth issues.
  22. It doesn't surprize me. If they already have wangs and yuhoos as candy, hey, why not this!
  23. Ummmm....I'm confused here :whistles: ....why is that a prank? Man, dcfish...dying the pool red!!! That IS a prank! ...not that I approve...but . Unfortunately, GS is right, today you would be arrested for something like that. More laws, more security guards, more security cameras...fear, fear, fear...no one is safe anymore!!! Ok ok sorry, not trying to offend anyone here, I'll shut up. So Black widow...care to explain?
