  1. Probably not, my struts are fairly new. Also, it's pretty much winter here so I can't work on my car without freezing. I will put one up eventually. But for now, the only way I'll add a tutorial for this in the near future is if someone submits one to me.
  2. Did a relative give you the car? That's what I assume. I wish I got my LS for free :P. Glad ya like it.
  3. I helped a buddy install coilovers on his car. It was pretty easy...you need the right tools though...breaker bar or impact wrench, plus spring compressers (~$40). If you can't DIY then I would agree with the rest, the quote seems pretty good.
  4. I'd love to have my car on there(I have tons of pics)!! I have an mpeg of it going 0-95 at 240,283 miles if you want that too! ← Blake I would love to get some shots from your 95. Email me (on website) or PM me for uploading info.
  5. It's strange that the Lexus dealer didn't want your money! SK is right, the brake fluid should be changed after 2 years. If the fluid is dark then it probably needs changing. If the mechanic at the dealer doesn't know that then they shouldn't be working. PS pump can be rebuilt, I have a tutorial on my website for it. I also have info on brake bleeding.
  6. Yup, check all the fuses first. Then check the relays and maybe reset them if the fuses are all good. I doubt a little mistake like this would totally kill your car. Let us know what happens...I've never heard this one before
  7. Don't bother, you don't want to mess with the airbag. It could very well save your life one day: don't take ANY chances. Having a functional device like the airbag is much much more important than having a newer looking steering wheel. If you want a wood wheel take your current wheel off and send it into American Stitches: http://www.american-stitches.com/ They can turn your normal wheel into a wood/leather wheel. Lexus dealers use these guys so you know they're good. It's gonna set you back though....ehhh I think they charge in the $500 neighborhood for the job, plus shipping. You pay for craftsmanship <_<
  8. You couldn't even open the car with the key?
  9. Thanks, Jag. I know there's plenty of stuff I didn't include. If I put every tiny difference on the page it would take people hours to read. With a gen change everything was different. I tried to go for info that my Toyota materials highlighted. I will note your info though B)
  10. Thanks guys, I really glad you like it :D. I've made a few updates according to suggestions here. Craig, thanks for the specs to fill in the missing info that the Toyota documents didn't have! Anyone wanna submit pictures?
  11. On the LS, the gas gauge, temp gauge, lights at the bottom of the cluster, and shifter position backlighting is all done with standard bulbs. It's just the speedo and tach that are cold cathode backlit.

    New Job

IMO, I wouldn't take it. That commute is insane! I'm self employed and work at home...I love my 1 minute commute :D I may make a little less money but I'm very happy. For a summer job years ago I had to get up at 4:30AM to get to work on time. It sucked. 3 months of doing that was too long for me . If you only stay at the potential job for 2 months you're not going to make 24K extra...just a few K extra....right? Maybe I missed something.... Just my 2 cents here. The choice is up to you and I think you're on the right track by thinking hard and asking questions. I hope you figure things out bud.
  13. If you want to install 5.25" speakers you'll need to modify the speakers boxes or create a baffle for the new speaker size. The stock speakers are indeed 4" in both the front and back doors. Using aftermarket speakers with the stock HU is no problem at all. It will sound much better....if you get decent speakers that is ;) Good luck! PS - Welcome to the board B)
  14. Backlighting on the LS is also cold cathode, for the speedo and tach. The rest uses just regular bulbs. I know the backlighting on the SC, which is what Lextech does a lot of, is a number of bulbs.
  15. Guys, the LS needles are NOT LED's like the GS and ES, they're cold cathodes!!! I've talked to Lextech.org and he doesn't have a solution for the LS. In fact, he doesn't want to work on LS units at all because of the cold cathodes. I don't think you can just install the LED needles Lextech sells, there's different circuitry. I have never heard of anyone swaping cathodes for LED's. The LS cluster is an entirely different animal.... The LS cold cathode needles do have some sort of conductive material on the back of them. I know because I've tested it and the black material completes a circuit; it actually has a small resistance B).
  16. I didn't want to add every tiny detail....but I'll add what I can. The LS400 logo was added officially to the 95. You will see the logo on some first gen's because many people have replaced worn out emblems. The LS400 emblem is usually included in the emblem packages. First gens did not have the LS400 emblem, my parts catalog confirms that. I can put in top speeds for each year probably...yeah, the newer LS's are "slower" because there is a speed limiter. Bigger engine, but slower top speed.
  17. Hey guys, I have finally finished writing my article, LS Generations - the evolution of the LS series. Check it out: http://www.lexls.com/lsgenerations.html I would really appreciate it if you guys would look it over and make sure I haven't left anything out and haven't made any mistakes. After looking at it for soooo long you start to miss things...sometimes stupid things. I resubscribed to TIS and spent a ton of time downloading all the new features information from each model year. So that's where most of the info comes from...Toyota. Some years had better materials than others. I would also love to get a more standardized set of pictures. This is where you guys could really help me. What I would like is for each model to have the same set of pictures: front, rear, passenger's side, full engine bay shot, full front interior shot, and a really good instrument cluster shot. Take a look at the images I have now and you'll see what could be improved. Thanks, Carl
  18. For reference: http://www.lexls.com/timingbelt.html There's plenty more help if you click on "tutorials." The spark plugs in your link are exactly what I have. They're perfect. The image for the wires is not coming up for me now so I don't know. I recommend only OEM Toyota wires OR Vitek high performance wires. You've got a LOT of work ahead of you, good luck!
  19. EGR pipe cleaning? I thought that the EGR pipe was located at the back of the engine and a pain in the *** to even change. 92Lex, would you care to elaborate on this procedure...? I'm confused here.
  20. You must be kidding ! We're talking about a Lexus here!!!! IMO this is the most dependable car on the road....even the first gens ;). Yes, mine still runs. In fact, sometimes I feel like I have a new car....sometimes people mistake my 91 for a new car! A while ago I posted an article about a guy who had 550k on his 90 LS. 0-60? I need to time mine....may be a while though, the weather is turning towards winter here in MN. I do know that if I want to go, it goes...fast. I usually try to hold back though since gas prices are so high now. I think a good question would be: have you seen an LS that doesn't run? Accidents don't count ;). I have yet to hear of an LS that "just died."
  21. This may help you...I don't know what your problem is exactly though... http://www.cureline.net/lex/howtos/howto_w...w_regulator.htm
  22. Good job and thanks for the photoshop job! You know I have a tutorial on how to remove the cluster.... http://www.lexls.com/instrumentcluster.html As a preventive measure you should just recap both boards entirely....I mean...while you're at it, why not do them all? Just for reference...90-92 clusters are NOT the same as 93-94 clusters ;). For some reason I can't get this through to people! There is no C212 on our 90-92 boards! Saying this fixes 90-94 clusters is just not true :whistles: . I used to think 90-94 clusters were the same but then I looked into it more and saw they were not. I'm glad to hear you've got a working cluster now wandawoods :)
  23. Yup, I'm pretty sure it will. Try it, the worst that would happen is it wouldn't work.
  24. It does look like it, but all the numbers on the tenth place are cut in half. It's probably just for spacing.
  25. I think it is because nothing appears to be broken...but I haven't tested it on the road. This came from one of the clusters I bought for doing lighting testing. Email me with an offer...I could probably let this one go.
