  1. the trunk... you will not need a video, but you can make one for others who find it so confusing.
  2. plastic with a chrome finish or gold, or black, or platinum......
  3. call a locksmith and have him make you an extra key so this will never happen again..... I am 77 and have never had a car with only one key, for over a week... ALWAYS the first action I take.
  4. quote " Has any body heard of this problem before?" quote if you have been lurking around, you should have heard of doing a search on code 13. I found this immediately... http://lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10579 try your own, and be someone who helps the forum
  5. my personal feelings are just the contacts and keep the original starter.. (but you need someone who knows what he is doing.) I dont think a rebuilt starter will be as good or last as long.
  6. curiousB "If you can do it yourself or have helpers who can tackle this then I might be inclined to just service the solenoid." Barbara this (complete starter)is a good idea if you are having it done, the labor is about the same..
  7. if your 98 has the wood/leather steering wheel, use a sunscreen on your windshield to keep the wood from cracking.
  8. Barbara..... I have 2 99LS's and just sold a third one. I have replaced the starter motor contacts in two of them. the click click is the tell tell sign. so do like srk says, and take it to toyota... and do like I say and stay out of firestone.....
  9. I think there's a typo in the torque specs. 7.5 N-m is about 66 INCH pounds, which seems to make more sense anyway. IF so, the manual is wrong.. page 1206 section EM-24, item 13.
  10. great, fix it right, you will be good for another 100k.
  11. this is an old post from dec 2005... you may or may not get a lot of activity.
  12. If it was one of mine, I would flush and refill with ATF. a little wasteful but wise.
  13. Park Place automatically sets your changes at 5k.
  14. one thing you better do, is find out where that bolt came from. I suspect one of the four bolts that hold the cam gear on..... check it out. might not have been torqued right. Torque: 7.5 N·m (80 kgf·cm, 66 ft·lbf) dont take a chance on ruining your engine.... the old saying (only ones I know) a stitch in time saves nine.... think it over.
  15. most of the same people read both forums, have you taken the lower seat out so you can see the bottom of the cushion and determine how the cover comes off??
  16. what are you trying to tell us??? I don't understand, please explain..
  17. FROM Jim.... If you decide to go ahead and have your bumper repainted, consider contacting one of the mobile touchup guys who service car dealers. I had the front bumper of my LS painted in my driveway maybe six years ago by the same guy who touches up and repaints bumpers for the local Lexus dealer. My cost? $100. The quality was great, he used flex additive and the new paint held up well. that sounds like the way to go............ thanks Jim.... very smart.. used car mgr should have his name..
  18. Micah I used SEM 39073 BUMPER COATER spray on mine to cover the chips and it looks ok.
  19. quick question, when you wrecked your 99LS, did you keep the owners manual? the new 99 I just got didnt have one in it...

  20. Malcolm I think you should be on the ES300 forum, this is the LS400/LS430 forum. you might get some good answers over there...
  21. with the belt off, I think you can turn the CAMshaft pulleys clockwise with out any damage. I dont think you can turn it the other way, more than a fraction without damage. line the three up and put the belt on. I got this info from others...... none of mine ever moved... so try to get confirmation..
  22. Thanks! Do you mean to pull forward, in line with the length of the car? Or pull laterally, swiveling the part at the rear of the housing? This is where I was unclear based on other info I could find. HA, both, you have to wiggle it out, there are 2 PINS that are snapped in their holes (I think)
  23. and if you are talking about the upper one, raise the hood, remove 1 screw by the fender, on a little tab, gently (with force) pull the light out WATCHING the tab that had the screw in it. (I am doing this from memory, so if any of you guys need to correct me, feel free)...
  24. What's up with the 'DEATH_AWAITS_YOU' and your doomsday predictions. Death awaits all of us. It's what you do with your life until then that matters. Life is a journey not a destination. If you are trying to come across as a nut job with that handle you've done so. To OP: After you get belt on just check cam markers line up with lines on TB and same goes for the sprocket on the Crankshaft. If all the lines line up you are fine. Hi, I am with you on both statements,..... he is some kind of a nut (need to remove him) Dashan follow Landars post.. you will be fine.
