  9. well.... the last time I saw/heard of this problem, I really didnt believe the poster, and chalked it up to "not changing oil"..... but now I am a believer.... no 430's in my future... hang on to those 400's......... I would not want to repair or replace this engine, just get another LS400.
  10. you really didnt need to start a new thread, just read the one before yours... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68495
  11. one of my 99's had a little shimmy/vibration (very light, but there) @147k replaced engine mounts, strut rod bushings (oem only) tranny mount.... now they are both smmmoooth.. by the way 32psi is too much, Lexus recommends 29psi.
  12. West Michigan (Grand Rapids) - but will travel to get a nice car at the right price :-) I dont know if you must have an LS or what your budget is but this '04 SC430 in Greenville(just NE of GR) would have me drooling...-> http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/2194770856.html boy you sure know how to hurt a guy................ "get thee behind me" envy, envy, no, no more, close this link... now!
  13. West Michigan (Grand Rapids) - but will travel to get a nice car at the right price :-) look on craigslist.org in the dallas area, several down here... and I am sure Houston has several.
  14. where are you?
  15. well we are doing the 2000 LX470 this week TB/WP bearings (all OEM) plus brakes and antenna. we are using the Aisin kit and getting the seals from Park Place.
  16. excellent work Jim, the photos are a great help (I copied them for future help) you said you enjoyed my post' , but yours are so much more helpful.. professional!! keep up the good work
  17. finished the 2002.. the Aisin parts came in today. the belt is a Mitsuboshi CD298, the bearings are both Koyo, from JTEKT corp in Japan (this is the same Aisin kit that partsbin sells for 240.95) on ebay it was 189.95, the water pump was aisin, with gaskets & o ring. the aftermarket parts from PartsDinosaur are lower in price and the pump and seals are also for sale there. so it is up to you, OEM or aftermarket... good luck

  19. well, when the old man gets up and sees snow, I just set and wait for it to go away. but this has been a different winter, (where is that global warming) we have had snow/ice for about week now. Bring on the spring for me.... and this morning they say more is on the way.. we have finished the 2002 LX470 but cant move it.
  20. we are doing the 2002 LX470 now with parts from PCI (preferred components inc) and the pump from Rock.... I just ordered the 4.7 kit from aisin (ebay)for the 2000 model. I will give you an update (soon as the ice & snow stop) good old Texas, if you dont like the weather, just wait a minute, it will change.... bah-humbug
  21. we are putting the PCI kit with the Rock water pump on the 2002 LX470 from PartsDinosaur. and I just ordered the Aisin (all OEM) kit from ebay, for the 2000 LX470, so I can evaluate the two... updates later...
  22. this dosent sound right,, He mentioned some minor bumper damage which I presume has been fixed, the carfax "should" show damage "if it was reported". If not?????? who knows what?? this just sounds fishy to me..... I would just have to pass.... go find the newest LS for $15k you can find and enjoy it.....
  23. Micah, the $$ I collect is for the cost of parts, plus I pay my nephew $60 an hour for his work. not for me... I do it because it blesses people, and I know God blesses me for it.... Matt 6:33 it only cost me time.... and I have some... and God lets me use it this way. by the way: expert... definition, X is for the unknown value, and spert is a drip under pressure.
  24. well we finished, water pump, timing belt all seals and bearings. hood struts. egr tube and front brakes also... now we have a 2000 LX470 and a 2002 LX470 that needs the TB/WP, the 2002 is turbocharged (factory) but the parts seem to be the same.. and it also needs a RF axle/CV replaced plus the RF inner tierod end
  25. I changed my tranny & engine mounts at about 160k on one of my 99's, and they came out in pieces, but I had no "sound/clunk" in mine, just some vibration I wanted to get rid of. and did.
