  1. I still think it was just a case of getting a little extra fuel into the cylinders as you shut down. Once the spark plugs get so wet it takes them awhile to burn clean again. Whenever I drive at high speeds for awhile I always let the car idle for a minute or two before I shut it off. Probably just a load of crappy gas.
  2. I hardly ever drive my LS400. It sits in the garage all waxed and ready to go but I usually drive my truck around town. My very favorite place to drive my Lexus is on the Interstates. Once you get over 80 these things come alive.
  3. Great advice C. Interesting about the two different materials, they must have had some reason for doing so. Once other thing I remeber hearing is that the MAF sensor is easily damaged when being disconnected. You might search for an old thread on this.
  4. If you are talking about loosening the bolts that hold the caliper on, it is easy. Stick a half inch drive on a breaker bar and a 6 point socket over them, then slip a long peice of pipe or conduit over the shaft of the braker bar. At this point a 90lb. weakling can break it loose. The heat seems to really tighten them.
  5. A very nice car. Oh, I just KNOW how you love the Interstates now... These cars come alive over 80 if you know what I mean.
  6. Congratulations on the car and welcome to LOC. You need to check with Curt Oberg. I think he posted a repair tutorial for that in the maintenence forum.
  7. VH I hate people who do that type of thing, and not just your regular hate either. Check on partstrain.com. I have bought a couple of lenses from them and they are very dependable. Not sure if they have the lens you need. You might also look on ebay or salvage sites. I hate to say this but there were probably quite a few LS400's flooded on the gulf coast so there may be a few parts around like that. Sorry about the Lex. You let your son drive it?
  8. It was just a thought. Many people do not know that the BRAKE light neans two different things. It could be a braking system problem or tell you the parking brake is on. Anyway, for what it is woth, it worked for me.
  9. 5 miles per gallon in a 747 fully decked out? I say no way. I'll bet it burns more than 5 gallons a second.
  10. Call the Lexus dealer in the area. Most dealers rent cars. Just use caution because MOST car rental companies use onboard (and hidden) GPS tracking devices and if you read the agreement you sign it clearly states it is used to track missing vehicles and determine if the car has been driven at excessive speed.
  11. I do watch NFL but I enjoy colleg football much more. I especially like it this year with Virginia Tech doing so well. The only online kind of thing I play is Mike Arlo's fantasy racing on 1069thefox.com I have had a couple good weeks but others have done much better.
  12. Good luck AO1 - Get ready for cold weather. I went to colleg in Oswego, not too far from Camp Drum and it will be cold. Buy your snow tires early, I have seen it snow there in early October and late May.
  13. Mine stuck on a few times. I pulled out on the parking brake pedal and it went off. Sometimes they hang on the first notch.
  14. I don't live all that far from Raliegh and I KNOW we are having very humid nights. I know a couple of my cars are very wet in the morning due to the 100% humidity. I think you made the correct call. VBdenny
  15. You have my approval!
  16. I must be that Minne Sota weather that ruins them. Mine are almost perfect on my 1990
  17. Wow! beautiful looking wax. I had a question. The third picture and the last picture appear to be of the same garage with the ladder and all but they appear to be on different ends of the house?
  18. That is one sweet looking 250 you have there. Nice job!
  19. Why are you taking a CDL improvement class? What you should be taking is the Perceptive Driving class. I went through that with my daughter when she got a speeding ticket at 16. It is a valuable class. My advice is in the class don't say much since it is easy to get caught up in it and talk too much. While I think HOV lanes are the stupidest thing I have ever heard of, I sure don't drive in them alone.
  20. I have done a lot of tile work. I gutted my bathrooms and replaced everything, tub etc. In the first one I did I used 4x4 tiles and in the second the 6x6. I like the bigger tiles better. I am preparing to do my kitchen and dining room floors and we are going to use 13x13 tiles with some of the insert tile patterns. I bought a wet saw at The Home Depot for $90 and it works perfectly. I found out quickly that those score and snap tile cutters don't work very well.
  21. When that happens, take your gas cap off for a minute and let the pressure equalize. You had a little vapor lock it sounds like. Shouldn't happen but often after high speed driving it is a good idea to let your car idle for a minute or so before shutting it off to get systems squared up.
  22. I admire you kewl if you can drive 100 miles at 55mph. I think I might go nuts if I had to do that. I will have to check my milage sometime. My wife and I cruised down to the Oceanfront in Virginia beach Sunday for lunch. At one point she got annoyed and said how fast are you going? I looked down and said, just about 100. She said well that is too fast, slow down a little so I dropped down to 80 or so. How can I expect good gas milage when it is just so much fun to "get on it" a little? I figure so what, I don't spend a lot on movies, I'd rather run the Interstates.
  23. These are actual photos I took while replacing a caliper but they show the parts pretty well. That is IF the attachment attaches. I haven't had the best of luck with that. Lexus_Caliper_Replacement_PPSS_0803.pdf
  24. I got a K&N air filter at Advance Auto Parts for $42
  25. email me at vbdenny@myway.com and I will send you a PDF file that shows how to fix this. Sorry that I can't figure out how to attach this file here.
