  1. The rotor should come right off? All that holds it on is the slotted nut with the cotterpin. BUT there is a new process my brother had done where they resurfaced the rotors on the car.
  2. I'd call your buy a great deal. You can't buy a 3 year old Malibu for 7 grand. Mine is the same year and color and I noticed that they grey paint on the bottom seems to wear out faster.
  3. Coolant smell comes from coolant. What happens when you fill the coolant reserviour to full is that when the car is hot it overflows. The smell is probably being drawn in from that. Try running the car with the climate control button on recirculate and see if the smell stops. I'd look at the reserviour and see if you can see where it leaked out. Another indication of a heater core leak is that the window fog up on the inside especially at night and in humid weather. I had no idea replacing the heater core was so hard on these. It sounds like they built the car around it.
  4. I have the same thing on my summer to-do list. Pace sound pretty reasonable compared to other places I've checked and I have heard good comments about them from others on board. I need a leak detector. My next door neighbor had one and lent it to someone and it never came back. How much are those detectors?
  5. Are you saying that the computer causes problems on a 90 when it reaches high milage? I'll guess the TSB is the Technical Service Bulletin? Where do you find that?
  6. No mistake about it, the guy is begging on ebay.

Not sure what parts you need, but I have a Nissan Frontier. I have had great luck with partstrain.com You might check them out.
  8. I think you just made a great decision. Now, you never have to buy another car.
  9. My cars gives a good jerk when you put it in gear right after start up. I thought it was normal. Once when our cat was sick and my wife was in a hurry to take it to the vets, she started the car and threw it in reverse. We now have two (posi) burnout marks in our garage.
  10. Have you considered moving? You might save enough in gas to buy an IS or something. What color you getting?
  11. My lawn is only about 1/3 acre. I have a Toro self propelled walk behind. I get exercise and save fuel over a rider.
  12. MY guess is that it wasn't intentional. I have beed to the Depot before and seen people with long boards on carts. When they come around they can easily hit something. I park at the way far end.
  13. Well Matthew, I have to say, it shines. Absolutely beautiful rig you have yourself there. And I must add that I appreciate the fact that you recognized me on your tags! Very cool move.
  14. Beautiful car. Maybe my wife will see it, she has a meeting in RI next week. Hey when I read this, it got my attention. So i got $22,500 for my 2003 rx300. I payed the rest in cash. In all thousand dollar and 100 dollar bills. yikes. chair.gif just shoot me; suck the bank account dry!! wink.gif If you have any of those thousand dollar bils around you want to sell?. They are rare, haven't made then since the early 1930's. Check ebay. No politics on LOC. Opinions are like..... this is about cars.
  15. I say keep yours and learn how to fix it. One thing I have learned from people here is that with a little support, we can do anything. The other car? I’d buy that to, drive it a little and decide which to sell. Or sell both and move up? Either way, you win. Nice to have you in the club.
  16. You should try calling the old cellphone number from a landline. See what happens.
  17. The level on my LS varies greatly. If you fill it ot cold when it is cold, it will overflow. The Toyota coolant should be good for many years as it is longlife.
  18. The LS is one of the hardest cars in the world to jump start. I'm not sure why but I know from from experience how hard these are to jump. You have to connect the jumpers and let it run for a long time before it will start. The click you hear means not enough juice.
  19. Glad to have you here Ed. Hey, if you know of any good Chevy forums, let me know. Finding good forums is hard.
  20. Even the dealer told me the springs last for the life of the car. And you know how much they like to make money.
  21. Great weather for you too! I know you were happy with the results!. Great job with the pictures Ao1.
  22. Where is the car 2500 miles away? I bought my Corolla sight unseen, but it was an executive with my wife's company.
  23. CAR CLASSIFIED REFERRENCE - I see many posts with members asking what a certain year is worth. Who know? In order to know that you need lots of information. Every city has only a few LS400's for sale so I thought if we posted transcripts from local papers around the places we live, it might give us all a better handle on prices and value when we are looking around. It might also be nice to ad comments on what you think. Remember, this posting is for referrence only. There is a classified section for those selling. I have no interest or knowledge of any of these vehicles. You read what I read. VBD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CLASSIFIED ADS LS400's CLASSIFIED - Norfolk Virginian-Pilot Monday, April 12, 2005 (Transcript) Lexus 1992 LS400 - Runs excel, dark green/tan, 225K mis. $4300 757 235-5569 Lexus 1993 FULLY LOADED 117K LEATHER ALLOY WILL SACRIFICE AT $5700 757-839-1100 Lexus 1993 LS 400 Black/w tan leather. Loaded, chrome factory wheels. 64k miles $26,000/obo 757-408-8484 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COMMENTS The 1992 is a good deal if everything works and the maintenance is documented. I might have an issue with the green. Green cars are bad luck. I wouldn't look at this car. The 1993 looks good but the all caps scares me. Looks like either a high pressure car dealer or someone desperate. And the "sacrifice" part always is a red flag. Still, a 1993 with 117k for 5700? I'd do a look-see. I'll bet the black 93 with 86k is sweet, you think it's worth $10k? Another car I'd check out if I was looking and it wasn't too far away. I like the garaged part on the 1995. Black takes a lot of heat and garages save cars. I really have had good luck with garage kept cars. My Lexus has been stored in a garge it's whole life. I usually check out cars like this if I am looking 2000, sounds nice, I don't know about the price. Too rich for my blood. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So that is the Norfolk LS400 report for 4-12-05. When I see new 400's in there I'll let you know. Denny
  24. I sure wouldn't buy an SUV right now. With gas going up so fast, prices on used (and new) SUV's are dropping like a rock. I'm very glad I don't have one right now.
  25. They just put up red light cameras here in Virginia Beach. I am okay with them because they catch idiots who run a red light 3 seconds after going red. They deserve a $50 ticket rather than hitting someone (which is what happens all the time here). But speed limits? If they set them reasonably, cops would then have the time to go after other, more important stuff. What do you think? Between cities maybe 85, cities 60 Out west maybe higher.
