  1. I would go get a second opinion even if you have to pay Lexus $75 to check it. Firestone doesn't know Jack about a Lexus. I drove in Boston before and was quite glad it was in a rental car.
  2. westt nailed it. Brakes are cheaper than transmissions or clutches. I use the brakes.
  3. It looks to me like you are looking for more horsepower. The very cheapest way to get this is to put on a K&N air filter. Costs 40 bucks and well worth it since you will never have to buy another one. I put one on all my cars and they increase power quite a bit and improbe fuel economy. You can't lose on the deal. They sell them at alll auto parts stores or you can order online.
  4. Hey cool dude, You brought up a couple of things I haven't thought of. My wife was driving the car when the ac went out and said ir made noise but I never heard it. Perhaps the clutch went bad. No codes, no flashing ac light still. Just no cool air and the compressor doesn't engage.
  5. Sounds more like an electronics problem? Do you think the RPM's are higher than what the tach displays?
  6. I wil gladly take that advice when I check. My neighbor has a sniffer so I will be using that. Sure is nice to know these things in advance.
  7. Texas has two
  8. pachocco1 Great file, thanks, exactly what I needed. Denny
  9. Thanks for the great info, Haven't had a chance to get to it yet, something always comes up. Had to put a lower ball joint in my Caprice today, lots of fun for only $9.99
  10. So if my A/C doesn't work and the A/C never flashed, it could just be a leak? I have the R-12 so that isn't a problem. Is there a sightglass on a 90LS? Thanks
  11. After spending all week in both of my attics I'll have to say the thing I collect the most of is junk. Been to the dump twice, Goodwill tomorrow. Other than that I seem to also collect cars, way to many around here.
  12. The one on the picture is fake. I used photoshop to make it and paste it onto my car picture. Not that I care but my regular plate is just a bunch of letters and numbers and I though having VBDENNY on there looked better. I'd have to go look at it to tell you what it really is.
  13. Sounds like an "urban folk lore" story to me. But you did list your address so I suppose it's true. Unreal and you have my sympathy. Well, I didn't want to say this but it was my wifes lazy cousin and his buddies that did this. He is such a slug. Since it was 20 years ago in Brooklyn I guess I can tell that now. People seem to have no problem stealing cars in Brooklyn, we lost a nice 1969 Barracuda there. I'd buy the insurance company a copy of "GONE IN 60 SECONDS" and mail that to them!
  14. Yeah, my 90 has the same problem. I am going to try to determine the problem soon. There are several ways to detect a leak such as electronic sniffers, sound detection and good old dye. Either way it is going to cost at a dealer. I may need a new compressor but since the A/C light never flashed and still doesn't I suspect a leak. Luckily I have a 30lb container of R-12 in stock so that isn't an issue.
  15. They use the term in Virginia but I'd be willing to bet it started in California. Answering the question on plates, some states use 1 some use 2. Some enforce it, some don't.
  16. usually 20-30 degrees below the outside temperature.
  17. The biggest waste I've seen was when the did the 1989 Ford Taurus. Should have just twoed the thing to the junkyard.
  18. I use my small California duster for interiors. Around vents and such I use a paintbrush and have the shopvac running with the brush on it.
  19. They do have an air about them don't they. I would have given them a KMA rating.... and cruised. Who are they to judge you?
  20. Hey man, you will love it. I grew up in Syracuse so Camp Drum has always been close to my heart. The good news is that you are in the heart of the snowbelt and the heart of snowmobile country. Buy yourself a monster sled and hook up with some sledder dudes. We use to rip through the country all night on them and they only went 100mph back then. Good luck on your new billet.
  21. Because they are junk. My brother has had two new ones, both broke major things before 60K. Junk for the junkyard.
  22. Excellent thread, sorry I missed it to now. 91L3xus you are an excellent writer which make clear sense to me in all your posts. Then when I read you have AHDD I understood why. I have always had the same thing. I never was diagnosted since you were just called a screw-up when I was in school, but I know it. I saw a test on TV to determine IF you are capable of driving and talking on the phone at the same time. Put a movie on your DVD, watch the movie and talk to someone on the phone in a steady conversation. IF you can do both then you are okay to drive and talk. I sure can't Denny
  23. I've been on the road. Went up to Syracuse 2 weeks ago for the Syracuse Nationals. My brother lives there and he has a wicked 1967 SS-396 Chevelle convertible. He just had a whole flowmaster exhaust put on it and it sounds great. Well naturally, he let me take it out for a little spin. Beastly acceleration from the big block as you bang through the gears. I wouldn't even have cared if the cops caught me! He also let me drive it on 690 down to the fairgrounds where I had a little race with a 69 Dodge Coronet 440. We got on and off it as a few other vintage cars like this way cool 63 black mercury raced down there. The Nationals must be the best car show in the US. Over 7,000 classic cars. I took a bunch of pictures but the one I'll try to post is of the 1935 Auburn that the guy spent 7 years restoring. He put the whole drive line out of a Dodge Viper in it! And yeah, I have the pictures of it and I'll put that on to. The only problem was way to many cops off the fairgrounds as they hold people up with checkpoints and tickets for bs stuff. All the parking lots had cops sitting there so nobody had much fun cruising. The I went to Las Vegas for a week. 117 degrees, brutal outside but I found some cool things.
  24. I dunno, it is just that V-8's have such awesome torque. I'm not sure what a GX is though, I've heard of the GS?
  25. Does NOT --- hit the key to quickly.
