  1. oakland, man that is awesome. I'll bet you are looking forward to the 300,000 party. Maybe a good night of cruising around then coming hme and doing a little waxing in the garage with cold beer. Hey, maybe a little def lepard and a drive...to LA via Omaha. I was taking a trip out to LA, tooling along in my Chevrolet token on a number and .... after that I forget? Nice to have you in the club.
  2. Ed, I know there is a thread on that particular topic over a year ago. Luckily, I saved the file on my computer. Email me and I will be glad to send you what i have. It is a detailed PPT on how to repair the problem. denny vbdenny@myway.com
  3. I am getting ready to replace my tires. The car has GoodYear Aquatred III now and they are ready to go. The tires are 205-65-15T which shouldn't even be on the car but they were brand new on it when I bought the car. I am going to Yokohama Avids AVS dB S2 225-60-15V From my research on the tirerack these have really good ratings. I also have Yokoham Avids on my track and Corolla and I really like them. So I guess my question is if anybody had put 225-60's on there stock 90 15" rims? I would love to find an extra sets of rims to put snow tires on. 225/60VR15 Blackwall Serv. Desc: 95V Price: $80.00 (each) Estimated Availability: In Stock
  4. I had a battery last only 3 years and then sometimes the car would not start after sitting for a few days (usually at the airport). I put in a new one from Costco for around $70 and it has been great ever since. These cars seem to use a ton of current at startup which I guess puts a strain on the battery. When a battary is compromised many other strange symtoms can appear. I would start with a new battery and go from there.
  5. Yes, gas milage definitely improves if you continue to drive the same as you always have. My problem is that since it feels like I have more power, I am more inclined to get on it which makes milage worse. Last tank on a combined Interstate and highway drive yielded 26.4mpg
  6. Just be sure to use a good quality 6 point socket. Using a 12 point on a plug with 100 grand could cause it to round off. If you are concerned try to squirt a little WD-40 or Liquid wrench in first and let soak for a few hours without running hte engine.
  7. DC, make a video next time and put it on YouTube. I put quite a few on there that I made while driving. Nice road by the way.
  8. When you buy the K&N filter new, you do not have to oil it. I clean mine about every 20,000 miles and I use the K&N cleaning kit. They are only 10 bucks so why not. It is very important not to over oil them, a light coat does it all.
  9. I would not put regular gas in my car unless it was some kind of emergency. I filled up yesterday at Costco and gas was $1.91 reg $2.14 Premium. I happily paid the $2.14
  10. I must admit I really like the looks of the S500/600 cars as well as the BMW 740/745/750 series. BUT, after owning a Lexus and hearing horror stories on those cars, I will remain happy with what I got.
  11. Hey Blake, Where did you get the parts? Ya never know when I might get around to doing something.
  12. I have K&N air filters on all my vehicles. I would not have any other kind on my car. My Frontier is a little louder after I put the K&N filter and had the original muffler replaced with a Flowmaster Series 40. Sounds slightly louder and has a gutload more power from the 2.4L 4 banger.
  13. My 90 LS400 has just over 149,000 miles. We bought it 3 years ago from a freind of mine who bought it new. It had 120,000 miles on it when we bought it and he always used Amsoil since brand new. He waxed it and kept it in the garage. My wife had a company car for awhile, a 2006 Chrsyler 300 Limited. We ordered pearl black with the gray leather interior. Other than the hemi, the car was optioned out. Due to job shift she had to give it back and said how much better the LS400 drove than the brand new 300. That says a lot to me about the absolute quality of these vehicles. The car is glassy smooth and will rip on the highway. After a 370 mile trip today, I filled up with 14 gallons of premium at Costco ($2.14) That checks out to about 26.4MPG. Not bad for a 17 year old V-8 car huh? I enjoyed this thread. vbdenny
  14. Hey GS I am still running my 90. Love it!
  15. Tough choice. I do like the new Sonotas and Camry's but forget that Buick. Driving a Buick says to others "I'm old!"

  17. Thanks Craig. Hope you have been doing okay. When I was a kid and we went ot Ontario and Quebec they always had Imperial gallons. I think they are maybe 10% bigger than US gallons? We are chillen here in VB. Just finished watching Matt Kennseth win at Bristol and all our friends have left. Bedtime for me after an extensive alumiminum recycling effort.
  18. Mercedes never knew that, maybe Lexus does as well.
  19. My wife called me one day from a parking lot. She told me that the car would not start. Apparently as she pulled into a parking spot she had the wheel way turned. After taliking to her and asking questions I deterimined that the wheels were not square and advised that she really pull back on the wheel and it started. Happens with many cars.
  20. I have never seen a torque converter with a drain. They have some systems that flush the system completely but I am not sure how they work. Draining and refilling a couple of times does about the same thing I guess.
  21. well duhhhh is me. I just realized that the prices given were Canadian.
  22. I heard you almost have to remove the transmission to change the EGR pipe. What is your take?
  23. I had no idea the new LS models cost so much. One thing Craig, I saw it told the fuel consumption It's Natural Resources Canada fuel consumption ratings of 13 L/100 km (city) and about 8.7 L/100 km (highway) What is that in MPG? I would guesstimate at around 35mpg?
  24. If you ask the dealer they will print out all Lexus services performed on the car for free. It takes awhile to figure out but it is interesting.
  25. My 90 has only 148,000 on it. It leaks a tiny bit of PS fluid and I was told the upper control arm bushing are weak but that is not enough reason to sell it. My wife had the 2006 Chrylser 300 Limited with all the creature comforts. When she took a different position she had to give it back. They compensated her nicely though. When she took the LS400 back, she commented on how much better it drove than the new Chrusler. I guess that about says it all. You want new car payments?
