  1. You done good.... low mileage, nice interior.. if your front end does not "POP" when you go over a bump, dont change anything..
  2. I have had 7 different LS400 in the past 15 years, with mileage from 90K to 250K and never had a bad/faulty ECM, and our Dallas sun is as hot as your Houston sun..... This is not part of their history, light bulbs, instruments(pre 95), door handles, sure. The LS is one of the best cars you can own....
  3. If your so slow "getting around to it", just download the ebay photos..... for all to see.
  4. Hey Billy, why don't you upload photos of the fine collection of cars you've owned in the past along with your current LS's to the Gallery section of your profile. I think you'd be approaching Leno's collection, although he still owns his. I dont know how to do that. I tried. deleated some added one and got lost. can you give me instructions? HERE IS A LINK TO PHOTOBUCKET http://s646.photobucket.com/albums/uu188/b...20have%20owned/
  5. I looked at the car, and you really got a good deal. I would not even have the fender dent fixed, I love original paint. just fix the rest and enjoy it.... my 2 97's have 236 & 247K on them and run perfect and look show room new
  6. Thanks. I guess I will just have to find a mechanic that knows more about it. THIS IS FROM: 914lps . Your power steering system has two screens in the system. one in the resivor tank and one on the selonod valve on the rack by the drivers side. Years ago i did a very extensive post on how to take care of those screens. Do a search if you can for posts by me. You should then see it. cheers.
  7. THIS MIGHT HELP. SRS Airbag Warning Light Reset Procedure To Reset the SRS Airbag Warning light on a 90-94 LS400 (maybe other models too): 1. Make two jumper wires, each about three feet long. 18 gage, insulated, solid copper (doorbell wire) works best for this procedure. Strip about 1/4" of insulation at each end of both wires. 2. Find the OBDI connector (it's in the center of the engine bay next to the intake) It is black plastic about 2-1/2 inches long and 1-1/2 inch wide. 3. Open it up, it is hinged at one end, and find AB & TC sockets. There is a socket diagram on the inside of the lid that tells which pins are which. 4. Plug a jumper wire into each socket. Be careful to keep the other ends of the wires from touching other stuff, or each other, at this point. 5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 6. Now, touch the other ends of the wires (one wire at a time) to the negative battery terminal, alternating TC, AB, TC, AB at about one second intervals. Continue for about 10 - 15 seconds. Note: I am told that if it doesn't work, try either speeding up or slowing down the TC, AB, TC... routine. While doing this, have someone observe the SRS airbag light from outside the car. It should start blinking slow at first, then faster and faster until it goes out. It may take several tries, but it does work.
  8. you could have a faulty seal that lets the fluid "bypass" instead of assisting you. but I would check out the "screen" before you do anything
  9. just unscrew it, send me 25.00 and put this one on... it is off my 97LS, and has no flaws What color is it. It was hard to tell in the picture. I have the beige seats. beige, some call it tan

  12. just unscrew it, send me 25.00 and put this one on... it is off my 97LS, and has no flaws
  13. I bought one from a local wrecking yard for my old 94, for 15.00 and it was the right color. follow the links for how to take the door apart, no problems, just dont "force" anything. you can do it.
  14. when was your timing belt/water pump changed? In my time I have seen water pumps with the impellars damaged/ rusty, eaten up, (never in a lexus, we didnt work on them, since I retired and closed my shop in 1996), to where they would not move water except at high rpm's. see if you can remove a water hose and see what kind of water movement you have.. should be easy to do, and you can elimanate the pump.
  15. I figured you could read and find the locks your self, but here they are for the driver door.... http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1998_LEXU...3.html?hl=69320 and from here you can find the other parts also..... it has a search box. good luck
  16. will this help? http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1998_LEXU...EAGKA_8511.html
  17. very same principal, take the screw out and pull forward, just a pin holding it on, and if you want to remove the longer one, there is a hidden screw behind the one you just removed. nothing to it...
  18. you just have to pull forward on the lamp to get it out, and be careful not to break the extention that the screw goes into. this should help: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1996_LEXU...EPGKA_8104.html
  19. 2009 Annual Auto Reliability Survey The best Toyota Motor Company model in our reliability survey is the Lexus SC—its predicted reliability score is the second highest out of over 300 vehicles, but the worst is the Lexus GS (AWD), which scores in the bottom 10 percent, and receives a much worse than average rating, and is not recommended in our testing. While it is true that Lexus models tend to be reliable and test well, this is not the case for all Lexus vehicles. The greatest disparity comes from Volkswagen. The VW Golf (aka Rabbit) is one of the most reliable small cars you can buy, but the Volkswagen Touareg has the lowest predicted reliability score in our 2009 Annual Auto Survey. BMW Best: BMW 328i (RWD) Worst: BMW 535i (AWD)* Chrysler Best: Jeep Patriot Worst: Chrysler Town & Country/Dodge Grand Caravan Ford Best: Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan (4-cyl.) Worst: Ford F-250 (turbodiesel, 4WD)* General Motors Best: Chevrolet Malibu (V6) Worst: Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon (4WD) Honda Best: Honda Insight* Worst: Acura RL Hyundai/Kia Best: Hyundai Tucson Worst: Kia Sedona Mazda Best: Mazda3 sedan Worst: Mazda CX-7 Mercedes-Benz Best: Mercedes-Benz GLK* Worst: Mercedes-Benz GL-Class (turbodiesel)* Nissan Best: Infiniti M35 (RWD) Worst: Nissan Versa sedan* Subaru Best: Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Worst: Subaru Impreza WRX* Toyota Best: Lexus SC* Worst: Lexus GS (AWD) Volkswagen Best: Volkswagen Golf (Rabbit) Worst: Volkswagen Touareg* Volvo Best: Volvo S40 (FWD)* Worst: Volvo XC90 (V8)* hope yours is not here....
  20. HORROR STORY! I bought my old 94 model with a busted belt, at 230k miles. seller thought engine was ruined, we replaced the belt/pump, and it ran like a champ. sold it at 248. still know the owner, bought it and drove it himself, then gave it to his mother and it is still going.. I just wish my 97's had the same engine... non interference. I would like to know also, . just what would happen???? .cheers
  21. I have one off my 97, I put one of the $100 ones on mine, this is brown leather, no tears, $25 mailed to you in the USA 48. Thanks for that kind offer Billy. I think I will look a bit more to try and stay "original" but if that doesn't work I will come back. I understand, I'll be here. My OWP is a Coach Edition and this was standard (like yours) on it. My DWP is standard, and had the leather knob, I changed it to this (photos) good luck..
  22. HAHAHA :D If only it were that easy. It is farly complecated to swap the knobs. You have the O/D switch and wires to mess with too. It took me 5 minutes to swap shift knobs in an 85 Chevy S10 I looked at the one in my LS and said NO WAY. your confused KF, there is no OD switch on the later models, you just unscrew it.... thats all.
