  1. I have one off my 97, I put one of the $100 ones on mine, this is brown leather, no tears, $25 mailed to you in the USA 48.
  2. I just drained the pump, R&R the line, replace fluid and THEN turn the wheels side to side and checked it the next two mornings .... piece of cake.... but I already told you this. cheers
  3. remove the screw that holds the outside light and pull it out forward (hard) then remove the 3 bolts holding the headlight in.... 2 in front and one on the side. thats it. shouldnt be a problem..
  4. One of my 97's has the original 4 shocks at 243k, and the other had front shocks replaced at Lexus at 190k, it has 235k now and both ride and handle the same to me and I am 75 and like things smooth and quite... but while I drive 70-90 hwy, I dont stop, turn, or take off fast...
  5. on my old 95, I had to remove the liner to get to it, more than a few minutes.... camry is not quite like a 400.
  6. GO GET IT AND DRIVE IT HOME!! I have 2 97's and both ran over 100k before they got timing belts, they have 235k and 243k now. my 94 ran 230k on the original belt before it broke on the original owner.. You do need to have it replaced, but it is not like you are on thin ice... you can also do it your self for about 300.
  7. I am not an ASE certified master auto tech, never was, because I started my auto mechanic career in the 50's, 20 years before they came on the scene in 1972, by then I had my own 7 stall garage in Richardson, Texas. I retired in '96 and my shop had a low ceiling so we used floor jacks and jack stands ALL the time with NEVER a mishap or injury. So I am a believer in jack stands. My son in law gave me a pair of ramps but my 400 just pushed them along so I sold them and went back to my stands..... I like being able to scoot around under the car without the ramps... just my 2 cents..
  8. My hose was not leaking at the pump, but below the PS pump at the first flexible hose union. easy to see the problem... and the aftermarket PS pressure hose I used (from abcmarts off ebay) was an exact duplicate of the original. for under $100 including shipping. PROBABLY made by the same company that sells Lexus their replacement hoses.... think it over. Several of us have had this "aftermarket vs OEM replacement parts" discussion before.....
  9. I used jack stands, sold my ramps, my Lexus set too low to pull up on them properly, just pushed them, plus I like the freedom of mobility under the car.
  10. I just replaced mine on my 97LS, part was under $100. and it took hour and a half...
  11. First thing I would do is remove the "friend wiring" patch, and see where you are. Next disconnect the cables from the battery and let it set for an hour or so, hook it back up and then see if anything is different. hopefully something will have changed.... for the better. post your results.. cheers.
  12. Goodyear Viva tires are Walmart specials, and WILL give you road noise. period. I took mine off and replaced them. get some michelin or bridgestone tires and enjoy the quite. you can resell the takeoffs on craigslist to someone wanting out cheap, cheers
  13. That looks pretty good, but I think I will leave them black..... for now... anyway.. I sure wish I was smart enough to know how to do that... your good.. my compliments sir. When I get a new program I feel like this:
  14. you know, I sort of liked them too..... may put them on the chrome wheels, what do you think???
  15. WELL! I found some factory chrome wheels for my other 97 LS400. I put them on this morning, and here they are: Anyone need a set of 02-04 LS430 H 74172 16x7 7 Swept Contoured Oval Slot SILVER I have 5 of them, with center caps for 4 of them. will sell one (without center cap) or a set of 4 with caps. I sold them, thanks...
  16. I dont like the 1998 and up TCs either. has a different ride (mercury) The 1995-97's dont noticebly smoke, but will be a quart low at 3000 oil change. If you want a chevrolet, you must like spending money. they made my living for 30 years at my shop. 1995-97 LS is my choice... I just like them better. and miles dont bother me, how they were put on does. both of mine are high miles 235&243k. but are smooth as silk and super clean. good luck (but pray a lot also) I think HE's waiting to hear from you... it says "if any man lack wisdom, let him ask GOD". cheers..
  17. I drove the town cars for 10 years, 90-97 models, and they are wonderful, just not a LS400. they do start burning a little oil after 100k or so. but oil is cheap... if you cant handle a LS, the TC is /would be my next choice here are a couple of my old ones
  18. Here are a few photos of our 2 97's. the Diamond White Pearl has Chrome wheels and just got a new TC/W-pump at 243K the Opal White Pearl, Coach edition has white walls
  19. Remove the complete lamp and then you can replace the bulb. Its not really hard. just remove the covering in the trunk, it was made to come off, and go back on.
  20. SMART, very smart, wish I had thought of it... TRY THIS FIRST!! Thanks Landar.... where have you been hiding??
  21. The timing belt from PCI that I used had the three alignment marks on them, CS, LC & RC. made the job very easy... good luck on yours.
  22. Follow their leads, they know what they are talking about.. check the convertors first, it's simple..
