  2. thanks guys, I got both downloads. my fcc is different HYQWDT-C. PARK PLACE wanted $650 to reprogram a master key with the doorlocks.
  3. nope, I do it a little at a time..... go look at my new post and help me
  4. Hi guys, I bought a 2000 LS400 for my sister-in-law, and the key does not have the push buttons in it to lock/unlock the doors. and we want one I have extra 97 LS400 remotes, do you know if this can be programed for the 2000 models? it looks like 97 is the end of separate remotes and 98 is the begining of the buttons in the key head. anyway... I need some answers if you have any.. thanks.. bp
  5. Probably a placebo effect. Its hard to see how a couple of ounces of an additive you add have to a tank of gas (thereby instantly diluting its concentration) would have an instant noticeable effect. At best it might have a slight gain after a period time to wash through the system. And even that is a little suspect. As you say though it didn't cost much and it doesn't seemed to have hurt so maybe its all upside. I agree on the TB comments. Just a good maintenance item. I'd add cleaning the IACV to that todo list as well. I agree on the IACV too, PLUS I am going to go get a couple of bottles of Gumout for my LS's also, thanks 92LS, I am greedy for top performance.... cheers'
  6. yeah i did the tb cleaning about 2 years ago, it wasnt soooo bad...i was thinking of the injection system...anyway, umm, thanks.. I know you were, but your engine performance is married to your fuel/air mix, and the TB is a real robber in that area just a tip
  7. gumout is a good cleaner, it is not a mechanic in a can. it sounds like your throttle body has not been cleaned in a looooong time run a search on it and do some reading good luck
  8. SELL...SELL...SELL or DONATE it look for a 1995-2000, they are bullet-proof
  9. That's not dripping with sarcasm, is it Billy? :D Actually, my timing belt was made in the US of A.... (of only the finest Chinese materials <_< ) :o Where'd I put them aspirins.... well, you know how old people are.... rude, opinionated, (maybe just a little sarcastic), but< after working for GMC Truck & Coach Division of General Motors, in Parts supply, and after 30 years of running my own 7 stall garage and using OEM and aftermarket parts, comparing them, seeing results, and knowing there are only a few real companys that make parts, I know some things I would not like to put in print here.... better stop... put the aspirins in the glove until you see me, I'll take them. Didnt really mean to offend anyone.... but sure would like to keep you from "wasting" your funds. But, if it brings you peace of mind, it wouldn't be a waste after all.... Truly sorry.. I will try not to post in these areas.. Billy, no offence taken by anyone, I'm sure! This is no time to get overly sensitive. These types of posts are highly entertaining and give everyone a break from the typical dry, monotonous, same old daily reading on all forums. Just like your car collection over the years, your experience as a professional would be most interesting to hear about. So, now that you've brought it up, please fire away, our ears are burning. what I meant was I wont post anything about OEM............... you guys can have it.

  11. YEP, go OEM, that way you never get any parts that are not made in JAPAN, not from the USA, Europe, Russia, or anywhere in the world but JAPAN..... OEM all the way.... take 2 asprins and get plenty of rest
  12. Here is my post about 3 months ago... I just done one of my 97's a couple of months ago, and YES you will want to do it all at the same time, if you pay someone or do it yourself, lot of work and lot of time. my parts came from: http://www.store.partsdinosaur.com/page247.html everything fit perfect, and the car runs fantastic. NO LEAKS, NO ISSUES. and this is still true.... cheers
  13. well here is my 2cents worth... A few months back I replaced the belt/pump/pulleys on my 97, at 240K, the first one was done at 123K. I dont know if they replaced the cam/crank seals, but I didnt.... there were no signs of leakage, and nothing is leaking now... I am 76, retired mechanic/garage owner, my nephew helped me and it took us a little over 6 hours .... and it was our first LS to do.. I did research it out, completely, but it was not hard to do , just time consuming.. so... what ever that is worth.. but I will add this.... IF your seals were RUBBER, I would check REAL good, bacause RUBBER never quits curing, ever. that is why tires "dry rot" and wiper blades get hard... cheers

  16. Geeze! Thanks, I'm usually the first one I know to recommend "look it up on the computer" . Seriously, thanks, it was "on the internet". The original Lexus LS 400, the first Lexus to be developed, was introduced as the luxury marque's debut model in 1989. Following the initial model, subsequent redesigns included the second-generation LS 400 in 1995, third-generation LS 430 in 2001, and the fourth-generation LS 460/LS 460 L series in 2006.
  17. I know both of mine seem to be trouble free.... and I "love" both of them.. Best Lexus' I have ever driven.. out of 7

  19. I have a 96 LS400... can you ship to 93274. Send me details to lealspeed@gmail.com I sent you am email
  20. Yes it can be put off, because it is your car. improper alignment causes excessive tire wear, when a tire wears improperly, it must be replaced, not just "lined up", alignment will NOT correct the problem. SO yes, it can be put off as long as you want to, just be prepared to replace the worn tire/tires later. Its your money... the old saying .. you can pay me now or pay me later .. and the $$$ only goes up. cheers.
  21. Don't know about over there, here it would be a general automotive repair shop. They would know where to have your hose repaired/replaced.
  22. WOW, that is a nice LS, looks much nicer than the one I had, you were lucky to find one that clean. Just take care of it and it will last you forever, you'll probably get tired of it before it is a problem. Great photos also.. cheers, bp
