  1. I have a 95 LS400 also and when I press the auto button AC comes on also. What I have found out is when you start up and want to warm the car while sitting in the garage or driveway just turn the heat on by pressing to > button (the one to increase the temperature) and the heat will come on and not the AC. Once the car is warm I now can press the front defrost and it works like a charm. Reading the other responses it seems like you had other issues, not sure. Hope this helps.
  2. Wish I was able to but they are out of business. They did a fantastic job on the tint though. Going to stop by the dealership and see if they can tell me.
  3. Not that we here in Las Vegas have to use the rear window defroster alot, but found out last year during a heavy snow storm that it didn't work. After a close inspection I noticed that the mobile tint company didn't replace the connections when they finished my tint job. Looked in the manual and didn't find anything how to connect it. Any help with this problem before I have to use it this winter? Both sides are disconnected. 95 LS400
  4. Thanks for the link. You don't want to know the story why it has taken me so long to get to this radio. But anyhow, I got the console off and the vents out and will work on removing the radio this week sometime. One thing about the vents on the 95 is the whole unit with the temp and time come out in one piece. Vent slats all stayed in place and could not see any reason they would fall out like some have experienced. Guess they corrected that mess with the 95 and up.
  5. Is it a "no"? BTW Billy, it has only been a year. ^_^ You did ask the same Q, Mr. White. Why did the ealier post suggestions not get the job done? The forum, being the compassionate group that they are, can help you... but you got some 'splainin' to do. If you are stuck, some pics and specific questions would help. Here's the original post -> http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61722
  6. Could someone guide me to a tutorial that will show me how to remove and replace my radio. 95 LS400 Thanks
  7. Assuming that the engine is cranking over robustly, it is not a starter issue. Is it even trying to run? Simple tests would be checking for spark and fuel. Pull a spark plug wire from each bank and check for spark. If no spark, you can start chasing ignition issues. If you have spark, get a can of starter fluid and spray into the air intake while cranking. If it momentarily runs, you have fuel issues. This does not nail down the precise problem but does get things isolated. Fuel pressure was fine but no spark. Turned out to be the crank position sensor. Back on the road again.
  8. Engine is cranking over robustly, no problem there, but does not even try to start. I will do the tests that you suggested and see where we stand. Thanks

  10. Cranks but does not fire up. Sometimes I would hear a spinning noise in the starter when I would start her up so that leads me to thinking it is the starter. Maybe there could be an ignition problem. Any simple tests to do at home that might give me an idea?
  11. Just wondering if the removal of the rear door panel on a 95 LS400 can be done (more or less) by following the front door tutorial you posted a link to. Rear door will not lock / unlock with remote, works by hand. I know what I would have to replace, but not sure on the correct procedure on removing the rear panel.
  12. Not sure if this is related, but while starting up my 95 LS400 it started to misfire real bad and white smoke was coming out of the exhaust. I didn't think to look if the CEL was on but after 30 seconds it smothed out. On of the members here said it sounded like power steering fluid had gotten into the throttle body. I caped off the vacume lines form the PS to the throttle body and haven't had any problems since. Maybe that is what happened to yours. Does it still run rough? Have you found the problem yet?
  13. I haven't had the chance to cap off the vaccume lines yet but, I have driven the car three or four times and I have not had any problems. However, I did plan to cap thoes lines, but after reading other responces, I will flush the P/S unit out and add fresh fluid. By doing this does it mean I will not have to cap off the lines or is changing the P/S fluid just a good maintenance thing to do?
  14. Thanks alot. I will read up on the P/S threads as you suggested but one quick question. Will I notice anything different with the vaccume lines pluged?
  15. P/S fluid leaking into the throttle body chamber sounds familiar as I mentioned I had read about this in another post, however would that cause the engine to kinda knock and sound loud? If anyone could put a couple pictures as how to cap off the the vaccume lines it would be appreciated. What do you mean by "The black air box connecting the MAF sensor to the throttle body."
