I have had 7 different LS400 in the past 15 years, with mileage from 90K to 250K and never had a bad/faulty ECM, and our Dallas sun is as hot as your Houston sun..... This is not part of their history, light bulbs, instruments(pre 95), door handles, sure. The LS is one of the best cars you can own....

I looked at the car, and you really got a good deal. I would not even have the fender dent fixed, I love original paint. just fix the rest and enjoy it.... my 2 97's have 236 & 247K on them and run perfect and look show room new

Your power steering system has two screens in the system. one in the resivor tank and one on the selonod valve on the rack by the drivers side. Years ago i did a very extensive post on how to take care of those screens. Do a search if you can for posts by me. You should then see it. cheers.

THIS MIGHT HELP. SRS Airbag Warning Light Reset Procedure To Reset the SRS Airbag Warning light on a 90-94 LS400 (maybe other models too): 1. Make two jumper wires, each about three feet long. 18 gage, insulated, solid copper (doorbell wire) works best for this procedure. Strip about 1/4" of insulation at each end of both wires. 2. Find the OBDI connector (it's in the center of the engine bay next to the intake) It is black plastic about 2-1/2 inches long and 1-1/2 inch wide. 3. Open it up, it is hinged at one end, and find AB & TC sockets. There is a socket diagram on the inside of the lid that tells which pins are which. 4. Plug a jumper wire into each socket. Be careful to keep the other ends of the wires from touching other stuff, or each other, at this point. 5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 6. Now, touch the other ends of the wires (one wire at a time) to the negative battery terminal, alternating TC, AB, TC, AB at about one second intervals. Continue for about 10 - 15 seconds. Note: I am told that if it doesn't work, try either speeding up or slowing down the TC, AB, TC... routine. While doing this, have someone observe the SRS airbag light from outside the car. It should start blinking slow at first, then faster and faster until it goes out. It may take several tries, but it does work.

you could have a faulty seal that lets the fluid "bypass" instead of assisting you. but I would check out the "screen" before you do anything

I bought one from a local wrecking yard for my old 94, for 15.00 and it was the right color. follow the links for how to take the door apart, no problems, just dont "force" anything. you can do it.

when was your timing belt/water pump changed? In my time I have seen water pumps with the impellars damaged/ rusty, eaten up, (never in a lexus, we didnt work on them, since I retired and closed my shop in 1996), to where they would not move water except at high rpm's. see if you can remove a water hose and see what kind of water movement you have.. should be easy to do, and you can elimanate the pump.

very same principal, take the screw out and pull forward, just a pin holding it on, and if you want to remove the longer one, there is a hidden screw behind the one you just removed. nothing to it...

HORROR STORY! I bought my old 94 model with a busted belt, at 230k miles. seller thought engine was ruined, we replaced the belt/pump, and it ran like a champ. sold it at 248. still know the owner, bought it and drove it himself, then gave it to his mother and it is still going.. I just wish my 97's had the same engine... non interference. I would like to know also, . just what would happen???? .cheers

My DWP is standard, and had the leather knob, I changed it to this (photos) good luck..

HAHAHA :D If only it were that easy. It is farly complecated to swap the knobs. You have the O/D switch and wires to mess with too. It took me 5 minutes to swap shift knobs in an 85 Chevy S10 I looked at the one in my LS and said NO WAY. your confused KF, there is no OD switch on the later models, you just unscrew it.... thats all.
