  1. I would suggest you only use a Lexus replacement battery. My '98 GS3 came with a Panasonic battery from the factory in Japan that lasted 10 years! I don't think you want some dumb looking yellow or red top battery sitting in the pristine engine bay of your '05, do you? Come original. His 05 has an OEM battery in it... it obviously hasn't lasted 10 years. My 02's OEM battery lasted a good 4 years... but for what an OEM battery cost, just go with another brand battery... chances are the black shroud that was with the old battery will still fit over the new one.
  2. just kidding, looking to help my friend's sister get a car... she liked these if anyone has a carfax account and can run these VIN's i'd really appreciate it. Thanks. jtkde177160083600 jtkde167150047129
  3. My name is Mo, the battery I had last the longest was a Die Hard Gold Battery from sears... it still works... lasted 9 years in my mazda 626 and now its just sitting in my garage becoming an environmental hazard. I went with the Kinetik because I get it at cost price and because I've seen my friend who is a professional installer use it in hundreds of cars without any issue. I just figured I'd give something else a try.
  4. Toyota extended the warranty on these engines... have them take a look...
  5. most retailers have a fitment guide already handy for you... as far as what brand you want to use thats entirely up to you.... I usually use the walmart brand battery because I go ahead and exchange them every two years.... although I sent back the last one for store credit and I installed a Kinetik HC1800 ($220) instead. The yellow tops that Brian mentioned are also very good. They Kinetik's Dimensions are 10" x 6.5" x 8.2" so anything around that size would fit. Wider would fit also, but no taller.
  6. I've heard they are prone to cracking.... but thats just what I heard I have no personal experience with OBX products.
  7. so it knocks but once it warms up it runs fine? I hope its not the dreaded sludge issue....
  8. I am not sure they specify 5-30; my oil cap does not have that designiation. Are we speaking of the 460 engine? it will specify what you need right in your owners manual..
  9. Two years ago a good friend of mine was murdered... he was shot as he drove away from an altercation that turned physical. He was a good guy that just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. You never know how life is going to end up. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, be thankful for what you have, and appreciative of those who you can share it with. R.I.P. Craig S. Walker Jr. 1/30/84 – 11/26/06
  10. before you bake them, try cleaning them up with Meguiars PlasticX. It made a huge improvement on mine and only takes a couple of minutes. Yellowing and haze that appeared to be on the inside were actually removed, especially near the top of the lens. It's worth a shot, if it doesn't work just throw them badboys in the oven.
  11. did you have any signs of head gasket breach before? Are you getting any CEL?
  12. I could be wrong but the 93 rated tires just have harder sidewalls thus the increased choppiness that most would expect. However not all tires are constructed the same way so you can get a higher load rating without necessarily decreasing ride quality.... I'd be more concerned with the treadwear rating though. I was just looking at costco's website and they don't have my Michellin Pilot Exalto's anymore... I got 45+k out of those tires... I hope its just not on the site and I can still get them.
  13. If you're talking about the actual lens being yellow you can polish it up with Megiuars PlasticX which cleans them up very well. If you actually want to change the lens itself there may be a group by going on elsewhere, PM me if you want info.
  14. tonight was the first time I watched 24.... whats with the blatant product placement... its like watching a Sprint and Hyundai commercial... and the kids acting was horrible... but other than that it was pretty interesting.. I'm going to miss the Shield.
  15. Did they tell you to get your flux capacitor re-tuned? You can just top off the power steering fluid with Dexron III transmission fluid. You also don't need to change your transmission cap every 30000miles... at most you just change the drain plug gasket which is a metal washer. You'll be able to find DIY tutorials on here and on clublexus.com that can show you step by step instructions. It may be on different cars but the process is very similar. Goodluck and welcome to the club.
  16. the dealers can say what they want, but i get my nitrogen from costco.. for free... its overrated if you're expecting a drastic improvement in anything. The only benefits I really noticed is that you don't need to add air or in this case nitrogen as often it won't corrode your wheels or deteriorate your tires. I don't have any issues with wheel corrosion of rotting tires but someone who doesn't go through tires as quickly as I do may appreciate that. tires filled with regular air lose about 1psi a month... thats not the case with nitrogen.
  17. I don't think you searched well enough... there are tons of post asking this same question. I'm glad you found your parts though but for future reference there are dealers such as: Sewell Lexus http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/ Carson Toyota http://www.l-tunedparts.com/index.php Thompson Toyota www.irontoad.com and others that offer OEM parts at discount prices. Most Have coupon codes for additional discounts.
  18. You've got me stumped here.... usually if you're not tapping into a factory ground wire you're just tapping a wire onto a bare metal part of the chasis... I'd try this question out at the12volt.com unless someone here can chime in.
  19. apparently your PM's are blocked so........... I find that clublexus.com classifieds are much better for finding parts. Post a WTB add up there... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=37 Or contact member ALIGA directly on that forum. He is a reputable parts dealer on there and a good guy to do business with. Hope this helps. I'm too lazy to log into my email right now...
  20. possibly a bypass switch.... to stop mileage... :whistles: or so the person could watch dvd's while driving? I'm not too familiar with your setup but thats the first thing that comes to mind.
  21. I'm assuming you disconnected the terminals and the bracket that secures the battery and its still stuck?
  22. that would've been a much better route to go! but at least now you know.
