  1. yes would any engineers who work for pioneer industrial electronics in springboro, ohio out there please answer that question.
  2. only can be done on nakamichi system. the pioneer system has no cd changer port on the back of the radio so cant use the blitzsafe adapter.
  3. the pioneer amp is behind the glovebox mounted upright and has a blue, orange and grey connector plug ports on 98gs. the nakamichi amp is in the trunk similar to first generation.
  4. WHAT YEAR, MODEL AND RADIO TYPE NAKAMICHI OR NON NAKAMICHI ?
  5. the ls400 under identification is from a long tradition of automotive history. i collected 1930's to 50's packard cars and the more expensive the model the less it had any name markings.the 12 cylinder said packard no where on the car. the low end 6 cylinder packard said it 14 times on the car extrerior.. the 12 had cloisonne hubcaps with no packard name on them. the 6 cylinder has large packard script. the 6 bumper even had had packard script in the chrome.. the elegance of the 12 needed no names. so the rebagded camry needed lots of lexus identification in 1990. . the 3 times as expensive ls400 didnt need any. by the way the 400 300 250 200 model numbers on lexus are exactly the same as the 1950 packard nomenclature.
  6. THERE IS NO CD CHANGER PORT ON THE BACK OF YOUR RADIO SO IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO PLUG IN THE BLITZSAFE ADAPTER . BLITZSAFE BROUGHT OUT THE ADAPTER A YEAR AGO AND ARE STILL DISCOVERING ALL THE LEXUS VARIATIONS OF WIRING HARNESSES. THEY THOUGHT JUST BECAUSE THE RADIO THEY WERE WORKING WITH HAD CD CHANGER PORT THEY ALL DID...................................................................................... THE 98 GS PIONEER SYSTEM ALSO HAS NO CD CHANGER PORT ON THE BACK OF THE RADIO.PORT . THE 98 TO 2000 SC MODEL HAS A 15 PIN CD CHANGER PORT AT THE CHANGER END SO THE 12 PIN BLITZSAFE DOESNT HAVE ENOUGH WIRES TO WORK. ALSO THE 98 TO 2000 LX470 HAS NO CD CHANGER PORT................................................................. BLITZSAFE LITERATURE SAYS IT WILL WORK ON A 97 LX470 BUT IT CANT. IT IS A PBUS SYSTEM NOT MBUS........................................................................................ LEXUS HAD SO MANY STEREO SYSTEMS IT MAKES YOUR HEAD SPIN. LEXUS IS THE ALL TIME CHAMPION UNKNOCKOFFABLE FACTORY OEM CD CHANGER CHAMPS. BLITZSAFE WAS TAKEN TO THE CLEANERS BY LEXUS STEREO ENGINEERS. BLITZSAFE MUST HAVE HAVE PILES OF JUNK ADAPTERS. I HAVE 6 OF THEM MYSELF AND SEVERAL BLOWN UP 1998 SC400 RADIOS THAT THE ADAPTERS RUINED.
  7. SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND I WILL EMAIL PICTURES OF THE INSTALATION.
  8. yes , send me your fax number on private message and i will fax the lexus tech directions. anyone can do it with the directions.
  9. there are 2 fuses to check. radio fuse but if was out radio wouldnt play either. but the cigarette lighter/radio fuse could be out. if lighter socket doesnt work then its just the fuse. i will message you with both new and used factory es300 cd changers available in case you eed one.
  10. no the lexus radios from first generation cannot be swapped. the only radio that will work is keh-m9471zt. your 4 channel amp is in the radio not external like every other model of lexus.
  11. tap is a used parts supplier in california. used parts salvage yards like tap dont even test there stuff just send it out and half the time the older stuff doesnt work. they give refunds but its a hassle.the 1350.00 is for a new one. i dont think there a really any new ones left at the lexus new parts depot.. the panasonic made 12 disc havent been made since 1997. the dealers charge 500 to 700 for a refurbished 12 disc changer so 295.00 is the cheapest way to go.
  12. welcome to the forum. go on carstereohelp.com and hit the install prompt then lexus ,then 98 to 01 gs radio, changer etc. has step by step removal and pictures too.
  13. does your 93 gs radio have a cd button. if it does your prewired. if it doesnt your not prewired for a cd changer and will need custon made cable. lexus would half to sell you entire main wiring harness($1200.00) so i am sure no dealer has ever sold one just install a cd chaNGER. the only other problem is the nak system switch would need you to switch the amp to nak and also the sub and possibly the speakers. the pioneer door speakers should be ok if your not at highest volume on everyday basis. so it would be easier to stay with pioneer system only requiing plug in and play instaltion of headunit and changer install on top of the amp in trunk right q- panel
  14. if your radio has a cd button your gs is prewired. if your radio band row ends with tape button to the far right you arnt prewired. lexus does not sell the cd changer cable seperate. it is part of the 1500.00 main wiring harness. i have the cable custom made with shielded cd changer cable wire so it gets no interfence. you would have to change the radio to one with cd button to install the custom cable. you would then be able to install the cd changer in the trunk. everything would be plug in and play. the cd changer power runs down the cd changer cable so need need to run extra power wire to the trunk. i recommend the 92 to 96 es300 cd chabnger 6 disc. it is a third genertion pioneer changer. the gs changer is a first genertion 12 disc made by fujitsu and are hard to find in good functioning condition. fujitsu doesnt know much ABOUT CD CHANGER DESIGN COMPARED TO PIONEER WHO INVENTED CAR CD CHANGERS. i will email you about an indash plug in and play option if you dont care to install the 3 piece change over system. i have an indash option for you that fits in the dash space and uses same brackets as your present radio.
  15. send me your fax number i will send lexus factory deinstaltion instructions. i also have the faceplate .
  16. the code was an owner installed code so dealer or factory would have no knowledge of it. very few lexus owners installed a code. I HAVE ONLY ENCOUNTERED 1 CODED RADIO EVRY 100 LEXUS RADIOS. I HAVE A MASTER CODE NUMBER BUT HAVE NEVER TRIED IT. EMAIL ME AT PIOCDX@HOTMAIL.COM IF YOU NEED THE MASTER CODE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO TURN ON THE RADIO NO MATTER WHICH CODE HAS BEEN ENTERED.
  17. the easiest solution is take back the aftermarket cd player and install a factory cd changer. i suggest a pioneer made factory es300 cd changer for a 92 to 96 es300. it is much better cd changer than the factory gs300 12 disc made by fujitsu. if you dont have a cd button radio thats no problem just swap out the headunit with one with a cd button. i am just an expert on factory systems not aftermarket so maybe soeone else can help you. i know that no one makes a wiring adapter for the 15 pin radio plug so you have to tap the wires after the amp which is 14 feet away from the radio so difficult to do.
  18. sorry, The gs changer cant be replaced even by other lexus changer more less an aftermarket changer. the pioneer made gs changers for both the pioneer system and nakamichi system are very high quality changers. Even a working used changer would outlast any new aftermarket changers which are usually made in malaysia or china not japan like the lexus changers. Even if you matched all the wires on the cd changer cable the headunit wouldnt recognize any other cd changer except the lexus brand changer.
  19. I AGREE WITH YOUR FRIEND THAT AN FM MODULATED CHANGER IS A VERY POOR CD CHANGER. IT IS SUBJECT TO FM INTERFERENCE IN BIG CITES WITH LOTS OF FM STATIONS.THEY DO MAKE ADAPTERS TO RUN AN AFTERMARKET CHANGER FDIRECTLY TO THE CD CHANGER PORT . BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO PUT IN A NEW AFTERMARKET CHANGER WHEN A USED LEXUS CHANGER WOULD OUTPLAY AND OUT LAST ANY NEW AFTERMARKET AND IS THE SAME PRICE. BY THE TIME YOU BUY THE AFTERMARKET CHANGER AND AN ADAPTER YOU WOULD HAVE 400.00 IN IT SAME AS A USED LEXUS CHANGER AND IT WOULDNT INSTALL IN THE GLOVEBOX. YOU WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE RADIO TO PLUG IT IN AS THE ADAPTER DOESNT PLUG IN THE PREWIRED PLUG IN BACK OF THE GLOVEBOX.YOU WOULD THEN HAVE TO RUN THE CABLE TO THE TRUNK AND INSTALL IT THERE LIKE THE FIRST GENERATION ES300. THE LEXUS CHANGER WOULD PLUG IN THE PREWIRED PLUG AND WOULD MOUNT IN THE GLOVEBOX WHICH IS A GREAT LOCATION FOR IT AND YOUR GLOVEBOX IS STILL FUNCTIONAL.THE LEXUS CHANGER IS HIGH QUALITY CHANGER MADE BY PIONEER in japan AND THEY LAST At least 10 years. the aftermarket changers from circuit city are made in malaysia and lucky to last a YEAR OR 2. THE ANALOGY WOULD BE TO PUT A NEW HYUNDAI 2 CYLINDER 2 CYCLE ENGINE IN YOUR ES 300 WHEN IT BREAKS INSTEAD OF A USED LEXUS ENGINE EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE THE SAME PRICE . A NEW AFTERMARKET CHANGER ARE VERY POOR INSTRUMENTS COMPARED TO THE LEXUS ORIGINAL CHANGERS MADE BY PIONEER. PERHAPS YOU ARE HEARING BAD THINGS ABOUT IS300 AND LX470 CHANGERS BUT THOSE ARE BOTH MADE BY FUJITSU10 A COMPANY WHICH KNOWS LITTLE ABOUT MAKING A CD CHANGER. THE ONLY REASON ANY FUJITS10 PRODUCTS ARE IN A LEXUS IS BECAUSE IT IS A COMPANY TOYOTA OWNS AND MAKES THIER LOW END TOYOTA STEREOS. EVEN THE HIGH END TOYOTA CHANGERS IN THE AVALON ARE MADE BY JBL A DELCO GM COMPANY SO I DONT KNOW HOW A FUJITSU
  20. THE SC400 HAS THE BEST SOUNDING OEM SYSTEM EVER INSTALLED BY A CAR COMPANY. THE NAKAMICHI SYSTEM HAS GREAT CLARITY AND IS MATCHED PERFECTLY TO THE INTERIOR SPACE. IT IS OF COURSE A LOW WATT 220 WATT SYSTEM LIKE ALL OEM SYSTMEMS. THE SUBWOOFER IS ONLY MODEST THUMPER. YOU WOULD HAVE TO GO AFTERMARKET TO RATTLE ANY WINDOWS AFTERMARKET SYSTEMS WOULD COST 1 TO 5000 DOLLARS FOR A LEXUS. I THINK THE FACTORY SYSTEM SOUNDS BETTER THAN ANY LOW END AFTERMarket. you would have to spend more than 3000 aftermarket dollars to sound better on clarity than the original. you could vibate and rattle for a 1000.00 system but it would sound worse than original at low volume.
  21. YES THERE WAS A BASE MODEL THE DEALERS ORDERED AND SOLD FOR $28,000 NEW in 1999. THAT WAS THE ONE THAT WAS IN THE SUNDAY PAPER RX300 FOR ONLY THIS MUCH. when you got to the dealer the loaded model was $40,000THAY ALL CAME WITH NO CD CHANGER AND MOST WITH THE TAN INTERIOR. NO BLACK OR GREY ORDERED FOR THE 28,000.00 SALE PRICE. toake up the $12,000 difference lexus raised the prices of the missing accesories to match the 12,000 difference. so the cd changer which was 1000.00 new on all the other lexus models was raised to $2,500 THE CHANGER CAN BE BOUGHT ON THE USED MARKET FOR $450.00 AND YOU WILL NEED THE WHOLE GLOVEBOX CHANGED TO ACCOMODATE THE CHAnger.
  22. i think an fm modulated changer is poor choice. the factory changer runs through the headunit diectly with much better sound. the amp under the passenger seat doesnt turn on to its best internal equalzer sound to full fidelity unless the cd button on the radio is pushed. you are wasting a 3000.00 new price sound system by playing cds through the fm antenna which does not trigger the amp. also you are subject to fm interference even on your cds. the best fm changer in the world still only plays low end fm sound.a used made in japan es300 changers will outlast any new fm changer. most are still playing 10 years later. your fm changers lucky to last a year or 2. i dont get it why anyone would install an fm changer when the factory changer is such high quality. if you need a new engine someday are you going to in stall a new hyundai 2 cycle engine or a used lexus 6 cyl engine.. that is the anaolgy that comes to mind what owners putting fm changer in an es 300. the fidelity is onr third that of the factory changer.
  23. THE OTHER OPTION IS TO HOOK UP AN EXTERNAL CD CHANGER LIKE THE 2003 HAS. THE INDASH CD CHANGER RADIO STILL HAS A CD CHANGER PORT ON THE BACK OF THE RADIO SO ITS POSSIBLE TO GET A HIGHER QUALITY CD PLAY3ER WITH THEW 6 DSIC MAGAZINE3 . FUJITSUTEN UNFORTUNATELY KNOWS LITTLE ABOUT CD CHANGERS COMPARED T COMPANIES LIKE PIONEER AND ALPINE THE 2 BEST CD CHANGER MAKERS.
  24. yes they were 1200.00 new but havent been available new for years. refurbished are 600.00 but you need a broken one to trade in. used in mint condition are the best option. i have a source for one. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com and i will conncet you with a good seller of used es 300 changers models cdx-m9071zt.
  25. a similar pioneer changer cdx-m40 as the es300 cdx-m9071zt does have reset button near thew eject button but the lexus doesnt seem have one. unplugging it and plugging it back in at the back of the cd changer is best way to reset it. make sure both of your fuses are working radio #1 and cig/ radio fuses. of course if cig/radio blown cigareete lighter wouldnt work.
