  1. the direct connection to cd port by blitzsafe only for 98 and up lexus. no such luck for 1990 models.
  2. THAT IS NOT A SINGLE CD .IT IS A CASSETTE PLAYER WITH CD BUTTON FOR RUNNING THE TRUNK CHANGER. IF YOU HAVE THE TAPE BUTTON ONLY pioneer RADIO IT WOULD BE EASIER TO CHANGER TO THE PIONEER CD BUTTON RADIO. THE NAKAMICHI CD BUTTON RADIO WOULD REQUIRE NEW Amp speakers and wiring. the pioneer has internal amp and nakamichi trunk mounted amp so no wiring for the NAK amp on a pioneer car. the pioneer radio with cd button would be a plug in and play. sellers of those cd button radios advertise them as AM/FM cassette cd but should say AM/FM cassette cd controller. they seem to forget to put the controller part when advertising then blame the buyer for not knowing an ls400 never had a single cd. as a rule the more expensive a car the less chance it has a single cd because of expense of repaining dash when crook breaks in car to steal single cd player. 7 series bmw and ls430 still have cassette players in view to discourage theft. the cheaper cars like is300 and bmw 3 series have had single cd standard since 2000.
  3. THE ONLY WAY TO SAFELY EJECT THE CARTRIDGE IS TO REMOVE THE CD CHANGER FROM THE GLOVEBOX . THERE IS A SMALL OPENING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CHANGER THAT ALLOWS MANUAL RELEASE OF THE MAGAZINE IF THE ELECTRONIC EJECT ISNT WORKING. ONLY THE 95 TO 97 LS400 GLOVEBOX CHANGERS HAVE THIS MANUAL EJECT OPEINING. ANY ATTEMPT TO FORCE OUT THE MAGAZINE WILL RUIN THE WHOLE MECHANISM SO I DONT RECOMMEND IT. I AM A PIONEER FACTORY TECHNICIAN SO I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. YOUR CHANGER IS PIONEER MODEL CDX-P8056ZT. THE NEWER 98 UP LS400CHANGER IS CDX-M8196 ZT AND DOESNT HAVE THE OPENING.
  4. nothing in the world is compatible with the 98 up gs300. it is powered backwards through the amp and has no cd changer port on the radio. it is the most bizarre stereo set up ever. i dont underastand why toyota did it except it must be about money.no other model lexus stereo equipment is cross compatible. no other toyota or lexus headunits, amps, cd changers can be used on a gs. as far as using a fujitu or panasonic made toyota headunit they aRE MUCH LOWER QUALITY THAN THE PIONEER EQUIPMENT ON THE GS. ALSO THE DASH WOULD LOOK TERRIBLE WITH THE DASH LIGHTS NOT MATCHING AND THE ODD SHAPED HOLE TO FILL WITH THE DOUBLE DIN 4RUNNER RADIO.
  5. YUP THE 12 PIN CONNCTOR ON THE LEFT IS THE CD CHANGER PORT FROM AN ES300 RADIO . THE ADAPTER PLUGS INTO THE 12 PIN PORT ON THE LEFT AFTER YOU DISCONNECT THE CD CHANGER CABLE... TYPE 11 IS ADAPTER COMPANY TALK FOR NON NAKAMICHI. TYPE ONE IS FOR NAKAMICHI ES300 HEADUNITS..........................................................................................AS FAR AS AUGUY THE 99GS OWNER WITH THE FACTORY CHANGER .THATS GOOD YOU HAVE THE CD CHANGER CABLE BUT THEIR STILL ISNT ANYWHERE TO PLUG IN THE ADAPTER. IF A 98 UP GS OWNER CHECKS THE BACK OF THEIR RADIO THERE IS NOT A 12 PIN PORT LIKE ON THIS ES300 PICTURE ABOVE. SO WHERE DOES THE ADAPTER PLUG INTO? I DONT KNOW AND I DOUBT IF THE ADAPTER COMPANY KNOWS EITHER.THERE ARE NO 12 PIN PORTS ANYWHERE IN A GS STEREO SYSTEM. THE ADAPTER COMPANY IS REALLY MEESED UP ON THE GS AND ALSO ON 98 TO 2000 SC MODELS. THE SC HAS 12 PIN AT RADIO BUT A 15 PIN PORT AT THE CD CHANGER END. SO IT ALSO COULD NOT POSSIBLY WORK ON THE 12 PIN PLUG OF THE ADAPTER. IT MAKES YOU WONDER HOW WELL THE ADAPTER IS GOING TO LAST WITH THE ENGINEERING MISTAKES ON THE COMPATIBILITY OF THE ADAPTER. GS OWNERS GO AHEAD AND BUY ONE BUT I DONT KNOW WHERE YOUR GOING TO PLUG IT IN. SEE IF AUTOTOYS WILL GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK IF THERE IS NO WHERE TO PLUG IT IN ON YOUR 99GS.
  6. an option would be toCHANGE OUT THE WHOLE RADIO TO ONE WITH A CD BUTTON. THEY Are not hard to come buy. then a cd changer cable can be made and attached to the factory changer. it would use your present amp and speakers.
  7. YES ALL GS300 98 UP ARE NOT PREWIRED FOR A CD CHANGER IF NOT ORDERED WHEN THE NEW FROM THE FACTORY. THAts why the adapter from autotoys wont work.LETS HOPE YOUR GS300 HAS A CD CHANGER OR THAT IT HAD ONE WHEN NEW BUT REMOVED BY THE LEXUS DEALER PRIOR TO USED CAR RESALE. IF YOUR BUYING THE GS300 FROM A LEXUS DEALER TELL THEM YOU WANT THEM TO INSTALL A GS FACTORY CD CHANGER OR YOU WONT BUY IT. DONT LET THEM INSTALL A 150.00 FM CHANGER FROM BEST BUY TELL THEM YOU WANT A REFURBISHED FACTORY CHANGER WITH TOYOTA PART NUMBER 86270-30150. IF LEXUS ORDERS A REFURBISHED CHANGER (THEY COST 550.00 )IT WILL COME WITH THE GS CD CHANGER WIRE WHICH PLUGS INTO THE AMP, THE CD CHANGER AND A POWER PORT BEHIND THE AIRDUCT ABOVE THE RADIO.THRE CHANGER WIRE ALONE COSTS 250.00 FROM LEXUS SO BETTER TO GET IT WITH CHANGER. IF YOUR NOT BUYING IT FROM THE DEALER I KNOW A GUY WHO SELLS THE WIRES AND CHANGERS.
  8. blitzsafes adapter for 98 up gs cars does not work. it is a 12 pin cd changer port plug and the pioneer gs system doesnt have a 12 pin cd changer port. it is 10 pin.
  9. it is possible to install the factory system nav unit in a 98 gs. but you would want to find one from a salvaged gs not a new system from the dealer. no lexus dealer has ever sold the whole system new because the parts needed add up to 10,000.00 new. the reason it was only a 2000.00 option when new is they eliminate all the other parts when they put in the nav system. so the best way is to find a used system but even that would cost the same as the option when car was new around 1500.00 to 2000.00 from a salvage yard. you need the whole nav, radio climate control. the nav computer from the trunk, a hard disc drive not dvd based. the antenna and the wiring harness for the digital avc-lan system connection. i know a gs300 owner who did it and it wasnt that difficult.
  10. the nakamichi sounds better than the pioneer but the pioneer system as good as any other oem system with 20 watt speakers. of course no oem system is going to compare to the 1000 watt aftermarket systems with their 200 watrt rated speakers. also the pioneer system more reliable than bose or infiniti systems. the main problem with pioneer system is it has automatic sound leveling system and is missing the 5 control buttons that the nakamichi system has. you be the judge if the microphone in the radio on the pioneer system which senses the road noise and turns the sound up and down automatically is worth not having the 5 control buttons. i dont think so but not having to adjust the sound up and down could be an advantage in certain situations.
  11. sorry to inform you that the autotoys adapter shown to work on gs cars does not work. as the picture from autotoys shows there is a 12 pin cd changer port to plug it into on the back of the gs radio. very sorry to inform you there is no 12 pin cd changer port on the back of the gs 98 radio in fact there is no cd changer port at all only the radio port.. the adapter company that made the adapter did not do their homework very well. they assumed all 98 lexus have a 12 pin cd changer port on the back of the radio just like all toyota products. but for some reason lexus made the gs stereo system like no other toyota product. it has no 12 pin port in the system anywhere to be found to plug the adapter cable into................................................................................................. you may think i know not what i am talking about but in actuality the adapter company doesnt know what they are doing on this one.. autotoys will wash their hands of it if you buy one and blame the adapter company. how do i know all this.. because i have personal experience and have a lexus radio sitting in my basement that the adapter company blew up trying to make it work with their adapter. they are way out of thir league on trying to figure out the idiosyncraSIES OF THE LEXUS AUDIO SYSTEMS
  12. do you have a working changer now or did your gs300 come without a changer when new.
  13. The 98 gs has a hard drive computer not a dvd navigation unit. the dealer charges over $10,000 for the parts new so obviously no one has ever bought one off a dealer. you need the nav sreen a new single din radio, the antena, and the hard drive computer and 15 feet of digital cable. your car should have the pioneer system now not the nakamichi system because the nak amp is in the trunk where the navigation hard drive computer goes. the pioneer amp is behind the glovebox. the only difficult part of the instaltion is running the digital cable. the other wiring is already preinstalled at the factory except for the digital cable. a good price for a WORKING SYSTEM USED WOULD BE FROM 1000.00 TO 1500.00. THE HARDEST PART TO FIND USED IS THE ANTENNA. IF YOU HAD TO BUY THE ANTENNA FROM THE DEALER THAT ALONE IS 850.00 SO ITS BEST TO FIND THE COMPLETE SYSTEM USED. THE HARD DRIVE SYSTEM IS ACTUALLY BETTER THAN DVD BUT MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE DVD SYSTEM SO THEY QUIT OFFERRING IT AFTER 2000.
  14. WOW, YOUR CHANGER LASTED 11 YEARS. TODAYS AFTERMARKET STUFF LUCKY TO LAST A YEAR OR 2.MAKE SURE YOUR CIG/RADIO FUSE NOT BLOWN YOUR LIGHTER WOULDNT WORK IF IT WAS BLOWN. ALSO THE RADIO FUSE #1 IS THE 2ND FUSE POWERING YOUR CD CHANGER. THE CIRCUIT BOARD ISNT AVAILABLE ANYMORE SO IF THATS BLOWN THEN YOU HAVE TO BUY A USED ONE. THEY GO FOR AROUND 250.00 FOR A MINT 96 ES300 CHANGER IS WHAT I WOULD LOOK FOR. IT WILL STILL HAVE PLENTY OF LIFE LEFT IN IT. IT IS MODEL CDX-M9071ZT MADE BY PIONEER AND JAPAN AND IS VERY HIGH QUALITY(IT LASTED 11 YEARS FIND ME A BETTER ONE) VERSION OF IT IS STILL USED IN THE 2003 BMW 7 SERIES.
  15. YES THE CONVERSION TO FACTORY CD CHANGER CAN BE DONE. THE ONLY HARD PART IS YOU HAVE TO GET A CUSTOM CD CHANGER CABLE SINCE YOUR CAR WAS NOT PREWIRED IF THE RADIO DOES NOT HAVE A CD BUTTON. IF NO CD BUTTON THE ID NUMBER ON THE CASSETTE FLAP SAYS P623 OR P624 AND MODEL NUMBER IS KEX-9741ZT WHICH HAS NO M IN THE MODEL NUMBER WHICH IS MBUS CD CHANGER SYSTEM INDICATOR.............................................IF YOU WANTED TO INSTALL A FACTORY SYSTEM YOU ARE LOOKING FOR RADIO MODEL KEX-M9741ZT WITH THE ID NUMBER ON THE CASSETTE FLAP DOOR OF P625 OR P626. THEN YOU ALSO NEED THE FACTORY CHANGER CDX-M9741ZT AND YOUR IN BUSINESS. THE PLUG AT RADIO END IS 14 PIN AND AT CHANGER END THE STANDARD TOYOTA 2 CONNCTORS OF 10 PIN AND 6 PIN WHICH ARE EASY TO GET. BUT THE RADIO END IS HARDER TO FIND. ONCE YOU HAVE THE 2 CONNECTORS THEN YOU MAKE A 14 FOOT WIRE LOOM TO RUN FROM THE CD CHANGER PORT ON YOUR NEW CD BUTTON RADIO TO THE TRUNK. PLUG IT IN AND IT WORKS. THERE ARE NO POWER CONNECTIONS NEEDED THEY ARE IN THWE CD CHANGER CABLE.............................................................. A STEREO SHOP WOULD LAUGH AT YOU SAME AS THE DEALER IF YOU WANTED TO PUT IN THE FACTORY CHANGER. THEY WOULD SAY IT WOULDNT BE POSSIBLE BECAUSE YOUR NOT PREWIRED.THE STEREO SHOP WILL TRY TO SELL YOU FM MODULATED CHANGER WHICH DOESNT EVEN TURN THE AMP ON TO HIGH FIDELITY LIKE HAPEENS WHEN YOU PUSH THE CD BUTTON ON THE FACTORY CD BUTTON RADIO. .THE RADIOS GO FOR 150.00 THE CHANGERS 150.00. THE CABLE WOUJLD BE WORTH 150.00 ALSO IF SOMEONE WOULD BMAKE IT FOR YOU. SO IT WOULD TAKE 450.00 TO SWITCH IT OVER. TO FACTORY PIONEER SYSTEM THAT CAME ON THE CARS AS AN OPTION WHEN NEW. THE SYSTEM HAD A LIST PRICE OF $3500.00 WHEN NEW SO CERTAINLY BETTER THAN A 199.00 STEREO SHOP AFTERMARKET AND IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT...........
  16. THE 98 NAKAMICHI GS RADIO HAS CONTROLS TO ADJUST THE BASS, MID AND TREBLE. THE PREMIUM ALL PIONEER SYSTEM ONLY HAS ASL (AUTOMTIC SOUND LEVEL)CONTROL AND CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED. SO SCORE ONE FOR THE NAK SYSTEM. THE ONLY OTHER DIFFERENCE IS THE PIONEER MADE CHANGER IN THE 98 GS NAK SYSTEM HAS A BLUE COLORED DIGITAL CONNECTOR TPORT TO RUN DIGITAL CAQBLE TO THER EQUALIZER BOX SO SCORE ANOTHER SOUND ADVANTAGE FOR THE NAK SYSTEM. YES THERE IS SONIC IMPROVEMENT WHICH IS DEFINITELY HEARD IN THE NAK SYSTEM EVEN TO UNTRAINED EARS.
  17. DELAYED ANSWER BUT THE CORRECT ONE. THE ONLY PART OF THE 96 SC SYSTEM MADE BY NAKAMICHI IS THE AMP. AND WHAT AN AMP IT IS. IT IS 4 TIMES BIGGER ALL ALUMINUM FINNED PUTTING OUT THE CLEAREST SOUND EVER HEARD IN AN OEM STEREO SYSTEM.. THE REST OF THE SYSTEM THE HEAD UNIT AND SPEAKERS WERE MADE BY PIONEER AND THE POOR QUALITY 12 DISC CD CHANGER MADE BY MATSU*BLEEP*TY(PANASONIC). SO THE ANSWER IS ONLY THE AMP IS THE DIFFERNCE BETWEEN NAKAMICHI AND PREMIUM BUT WHAT A DIFFERENCE.
