  1. the lower glovebox top edge is held in by 2 pop out springs. once the lower glovebox is popped out the screws will be seen to remove the changer.
  2. if you email me i will send a picture of the glovebox removal or i could fax you the factory directions that come with a new cd changer. my email address is pioneersuby@woh.rr.com.
  3. i tried to send removal instructions for the lcd itself not the radio but i am not able to pm you. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com amd i will send them to you.
  4. conversion to nakamichi radio (n104)from the non cd button radio in 1992 not very doable. every other nakamichi converesion is easy to do. especially ls400 and gs300 conversions easy to do. conversion of sc400 with pioneer system cd changer radio(p6800) only needs lengthing the subwoofer amp wiring and connector. but the tape only radio of 92 sc (p1600)has no wiring to the trunk except subwoofer amp so cant be easily converted to nakamichi.
  5. what would be the purpose of additional cd changers. do you have the under the glovebox 6 disc cd changer right now?
  6. i have a 98 nakamichgi amp and live near columbus ohio. if you want to swing by we can install the amp and see if that cures the problem. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com and we will arrange a time to do that.
  7. YES I FIGURED IT WAS A BODY SHOP GOOF UP. I AM GLAD THEY STILL HAD YOUR OLD QUARTERPANEL. TYHE QUARTERPANEL THEY PUT IN WAS FRPOM A NON CD CHANGER LS400; THEY ACTUALLY MADE 2 DIFFERENT QUARTERPANELS IN FIRST GENERATION CARS. THE ES300 HAS DIFFERENT CROSS MEMBERS OIN THE FLOOR.
  8. did they replace that qurterpanel or not. if they replaced it with a non cd changer installed parts car the bottom circled in red bolt holes arnt going to be there. i dont think your doing anything wrong. they actually had 2 different floor trunk support beams. 1 for cd changer and another when no cd changer.
  9. i just check the radio plugs on 1998 ls400 nakamichi aND PREMIUM RADIOS. THEY HAVE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT WIRING HARNESSES IN 1998. the premuim 98 ls400 has the same plugs as the navigatioin radio. the nakamichi has the same plugs as the 95 to 97 premium and nakamichi but not 98 up premium. so i dont think you are going to be able to do the switch. i hope you didnt buy the equipment already. thats why you couldnt have navigation unit in 98 ls and gs with nakamichi because they are 2 different wiring harnesses.
  10. i just tried to swap nak with premium on a 98 es300 and the wiring harness doesnt support the switch. if you can do it on an ls400 let me know because i couldnt do the switch on an es300. the hang up was the digital cable that plugs in the equalizer to the radio. .
  11. ITS THE RUBBER BELTS THE CASSETTES GO OUT AFTER 12 YEARS DUE TO THE OLD STYLE RUBBER BELTS THAT GO BAD. I HAVE THE BELTS IN STOCK 2 SMALL 1 INCH AND ONE LARGE 3 INCH D1AMETER . ALSO AM GETTING A SUPPLY OF SERVICE MANULS ON HOW TO REPLACE THE BELTS. I HAVE THE CASSETTE UNIT REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS . THERE ARE JUST 4 SCREWS TO REMOVE THE CASSETTE UNIT. DONT REMOVE FACEPLATE WITHOUT DETACHING THE RIBBON CABLE FIRST. EMAIL ME AT pioneersuby@woh.rr.com .
  12. if they replaced the right quarterpanel from an ls400 without a cd changer ordered at the factory then there wouldnt be any holes. the holes were only in the models ordered at the factory. the non cd changer cars wernt prewired either but putting different quarterpanels at the factory seems unbelievable but true.
  13. EMAIL ME AT PIONEERSUBY@WOH.RR.COM. I WILL SEND PHOTOS OF WHAT THE CD CHANGER CONNECTOR LOOKS LIKE . YPOUR MODEL IS PREWIRED BUT THE CONNCTOR IS HIDDEN . IT IS PLUGGED INTO A DUMMY CONNECTOR. ALSO I CAN TELL YOU WERE TO GET A BRAND NEW 1999 ES300 FACTORY CHANGER FOR 2/3RDS OFF DEALER PRICE AND IT EXACTLY WHAT THE DEALER SELLS. NONE OF THE ADAPTER AFTERMARKET CHANGERS WORKED AND THE ADAPTERS ARE NO LONGER MADE SO THE FACTORY CHANGER IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO BUT NOT AT THE DEALERS PRICE OF 1195.00.
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
  15. I HAVE NICE NAKAMICHI AFTERMARKET 4 INCH SPREAKERS 4 0HM AND MATCHES ORIGINAL WATTS PERFECTLY. THE SAME HIGH EFFEINCIECY LOW WATT SPEEAKER LIKE ORIGINAL EXCEPT NEW UPDATE BY NAKAMICHI. THAT LOOK AND WORK GREAT. EMAIL FOR EMAIL PICTURE OF ONE MOUNTED IN THE LEXUS NAK SPEAKER BOX. PIONEERSUBY@WOH.RR.COM
  16. IT DCOULD BE THE EQUALIZER. THE NAK HAS AN EQULIZER PLUGGED INTO THE CD CHANGER. ITS BEEN SQUEEZED INTO THE SPACE BEWHIND THE CD CHANGER. FOLOOEW THE BLUE CONNCTOR WIRING TO THE EQUALIZER AND YYOU WILL FIND THE PROBLEM. WATER GETS IN IT FROM THE EVAPORATOR WHICH IT WAS MOUNTED TOO CLOSE TOO,. THE PIONEER SYSTEM DOESNT HAVE AN NAKAMICHI EQUALIZER SP DOESNT HAVE THE PROBLEM ONMLY THE NAKAMICHI. WATER CAN GET INN THE CHANGER THAT WAY TOO.
  17. the cd changer cable is not some seperate cable. it is part of the main wiring harness and is not extractable. the dealer sells main wirng harness for 1500.00. so the dealer says not possible to change to gs300 cd changer system because lexus didnt install with seperate cable like other makes. ......................................................... so the solution is a custom made cable. better to buy from someone whon knows how to make them. the cable should be made out of shielded cabling and be 16 feet long so it will reach the trunk. i treid once to remove the main wiring harness from an gs300 even with all the seats removed. it had four huge 40 pin connctorsalong the way as it wigwagged from one side onm the way to the trunk. even if you got it out it woulkd be too big .its 2 inches thick to have any use . custom 12 wire cable is the only way to go. it canm be run under the sill plate to under the rear seat in a few minutes. it is self conmtaioned there are no wires to splice or power hookups.
  18. yes the 4 door speakers should work even if sub amp not there or not working. the blue plug in the lower left corner when looking at the back of the radio is the subwoofer connector. i have a pile of those pioneersub amps so let me know if you need one free with the cd changer cable. i have helpred over 20 lexus ownersa convert their non cd button radios to the cd changer system with my custom mnade cables. they are profesionally constructed of shielded wiring . regular wiring would pick up electronic interfence .
  19. hello flanker, the radio itself contains has the 4 channel door amplifers. the 1 channel subwoofer amplifier is in the trunk to the left of the gas tank behind the truunk liner carpet. just pull it back on the left and the amp should be there. . if it is missing i have one to give you free if you purchase my custom made cd changer cable you will need with your cd changer system conversion. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com for details. i also have the advanced 1996 lexus changer to use with the upgrade instead of the first generation pioneer 6 disc.. it is small enough to fit under the passenger seat or possibly in the glovebox . since your running the cd changer cable you can install the changer anywhere you want.
  20. SURE I WOULD BE GLAD TO HELP YOU CONVERT YOUR ES300 SYSTEM OVER TO FACTORY CD CHANGER SYSTEM. IF YOU JUST NEED THE CABLE THAT WOULD BE FINE. I ALSO HAVE THE COMPLETE SYSTEM AVAILABLE WITH ALL 1996 ES300 YEAR EQUIPMENT.................................................. I DONT RECOMMEND THE EARLY ES300 RADIOS OR CD CHANGERS. THERE WERE MANY FACTORY DESIGN DEFECTS ALL CORRECTED BY 1996....................................... SO THE COMPLETE CONVERSION KIT WOULD INCLUDE THE CD BUTTON RADIO, THE 6 DISC CHANGER WITH 3 MAGAZINES, THE TRUNK MOUNTING BRACKETS OR A REAR TRUNK CEILING BRACKETS WHICH EVER YOU WOULD PREFER. I ALSO HAVE A UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT INSTALL BRACKETS. SINCE YOUR RUNNING THE CD CHANGER CABLE YOU CAN INSTALL THE CHANGER ANYWHERE YOU WANT EVEN THE GLOVE BOX TIGHT FIT AND YOU WOULD LOOSE GLOVEBOX USE. ALSO INCLUDED IS THE CARPETED COVER...................................................................... I HAVE HELPED OVER 20 ES300 OWNERS GET THE HIGH END FACTORY CD SOUND WITH MY CONVERSION KITS. INALSO CONVERT ALL THE OTHER FIRST GENRATION LEXUS WITHOUT CD CHANGER BUTTONS ?FOORDOOR ON THIS CLUB JUST CONVERTED HIS 1991 LS400 WITH MY 90 TO 94 LS400 NAKAMICHI CD CHANGER CONVERSION KIT. THAT ONE EVEN CHANGES THE SUBWOOFER TO 5 OHM NAKAMICHI. THERE ARE NO SPEAKER OR AMPLIFIER CHANGES NEEDED IN THE ES300 CONVERSION YOU ARE DOING. EMAIL ME AT PIONEERSUBY@WOH.RR.COM FOR PICTURES OF THE ES300N CONVERSION KIT AND THE PROFRESSIONALLY MADE CD CHANGER CABLE WHICH IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM THE LEXUS DEALER.
  21. what is the id number on the radio removed from your sc. the id number is on the cassette flap door. there are 3 different sc wiring harnesses(pioneer no cd button, pioneer cd button and nakamichi 92 to 97, in 98 everything changed again so actually 5 different wiring harnesess). so difficult to answer with out knowing original radio that was in the car from the factory.
  22. i have new replacement nakamichi speakers that fits right in the box. i will send you one an approval to try. if they meet your approval you could get all 3. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com. the dealer cost is 540.00 for the one speaker and box. these would be around one tenth of that price.
  23. THERE ARE NO AFTERMARKET MAKERS OF THE RADIO PLUG SO YOU HAVE TO GO WITH FACTORY WIRE HARNESS. LEXUS WONT JUST SELL THE SEPERATE PLUGS ONLY THE WHOLE HARNESS. I HAVE A HARNESS I WILL PART OUT.
