  1. no sorry there are no aftermarket cd changers that work with the 93 ls400 or any lexus radio for that matter. lexus cd changerrs have multiple serial communication lines which no other cd changer has so no way to adapt an aftermarket cd changer to talk to the head unit. actually you should be all wired for a cd changer in 1993 . i dont think there were any 93 ls400 radios without a cd button. if your head unit is p1609 (id number on the cassette flap door)your all wired and redy to plug in A FACTORY CHANGER. when the cart was new and the factoy changer was 1300.00 new at the dealer you can see why someone chose an fm changer but now with used working changers a few dollars more than a new fm changer there is no reason not to have the best cd music possible .with a direct acsees to headunit factory changer. the advantage of direct acsess is that adio has an equalizer which only kicks he amp on high fidelity when the cd button is pushed so with fm changer you are only getting low fidelity as the radio thinks an fm station is playing.
  2. all amps run hot just like engines. even if you didnt run the air the evaporator puts out condensation in hot weather and that is getting in the equalizer. the add on equalizer behind the cd changer was not planned for in original engineering of the 98 gs and it was mounted to close to the evaporator. i have already replaced 5 different nakamichi gs changers and equalizers and 0 nak trunk amps so the equalizer has to be your problem not the amp. i advise not to touch the engine of your gs after you have been runnning your car for 1 hour either. there is an airbox in the quarterpanel below the amp so the amp is already getting air circulation.
  3. mark the hole and pick carpet up to make cut in it. your not driling the metal floor. there are 2 large 12 mm predrilled holes in ther metal frame for the cd changer.
  4. the bracket can be installed on top of carpet . just locate the 2 predrilled holes in the trunk floor frame and drill holes through carpet. then make slits to get the front and back brackets through carpet. easier than cutting carpet and makes less moisture getteing to the changer from the trunk frame. the bracket arm goes though a slit in the side panel and goes on with side brace with a 6mm nut........................................................... if your changer is out of a 92 or 93 es300 it has a large chance of not working well. there were many defects in the early models especially the door opening mechanism. . the 94 up changers were the best and parts between the 92 93 not interchangeable as the door mechanism changed for the better. the later 94 up changers are very trustworthey and should work for many more years.
  5. as far as interchangability the whole systems interchangeable but not individual parts. the only parts that could stay would be door speakers and cd changer if systems switched. sub would have to be switched as sc pioneer 1 ohm and sc nak 5 ohms. many conversions from pioneer cd changer system to the nakamichi systems have been done. only rewiring sub to 5 channel amp under the changer needs to be done. the 12 disc cd changer can stay but most nakamichi conversions switch to 3rd generation 1996 es300 6 disc cd changer made by pioneer. the sc 12 disc by panasonic was first generation and many skipping and cdr jamming faults. pioneer doesnt skip and doesnt jam on cdrs.
  6. 5 channel not more than 40 watts per channell. front door speakers and the sub are 2 ohm on the premium pioneer system just to make ot difficult. if nakamichi they are all 4 ohms. so pretty hard to get an aftermarket 5 channel amp that works well with the pioneer system speakers . it will sound bad and the stereo shop will then try to sell you new spealkers. it will still sound bad. then a new headunit. then new cd changer. it never ends once the stereo shop gets you to change the amp. ...............its better to switch to the 93 to 97 nakamichi gs300 system amp and headunit. and now its cheaper than aftermarket to make the switch and it is all plug in and play and doesnt require any stereo shop to help with the install. there in not 1 wire to splice. new new wiring needed. no hook up to the battery that the aftermarket amp would require.
  7. when you ask for the model numbers that means the pioneer model numbers. they are different than the lexus toyota part numbers. do you want the pioneer model numbers or the toyota part numbers? the manuals and guides is also a matter of what you mean by that. i have the pioneer lexus service manuals for the radio and the cd changer. the speakers have no manual that i know of. lexus makes a the 1999 gs electrical manual that has every wire going to every electical item and all are color coded like the color of wire actually going to the item. it depends what you need these for. if you want to go aftermarket stereo like most gs owners than the electrical manual is best. if youn are just needing to sell removed items then any motor crash manual has all the toyota part numbers.
  8. yes their are 3 belts to replace. in have the instructionsa and the belts email me.
  9. the lexus factory 6 cd changer lists for $2400.00 . hopefully hes putting in the factory changer not an fm modulated one that cost 129.00. it also taqkes major glovebox changes to the tune of 300.00 so make sure the new glovebox parts are included with the free facxtory cd changer.
  10. thanks for the compliment. to paint a less gloomy picture i have the nakamichi service manual for the sc nakamichi amp i will send you for free. i will point out the chip that usually goes bad with your problem. it may fix the problem just to replace that protection chip. email me your address at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com and i will send the manual to you.
  11. sorry to say its the amp again. this time make sure all water leak areas(5 places are trunk lip gasket, water overflo, gas overflo, right tailite gasket, airbox gasket) are checked. that is the usual cause of amp failure as nak amps mounted in non wet areas in other lexus are going strong 14 years later.
  12. 9IT DEPENDS ON WHICH 92 SC RADIO YOU HAVE. IF YOU HAVE THE BASE RADIO WITH NO CD BUTTON P1600(ID NUMBER ON CASSETTE FLAP DOOR). THEN THE SPEAKER WIRES CAN BE ADAPRTYEDE RIGHT AT THE RADIO. CONNCTOR IS STANDARD 2 CONNCTOR 10 AND 6 PIN SPEAKER WIRE ADAPTOR FOR REGULAR TOYOTA 88 TO 1999 AND IS EASY AFTERMARKET CHANGE. IF YOU HAVE P6800 RADIO THEN ALL THE WIRES GO TO TRUNK. I HAVE A NEW IN THE BOX SPEAKER ADAPTOR BY METRA. THEY ALSO MAKE THE FACEPLATE KIT FOR SC NOW. AN AMATEUR CAN DO THE INSTALL NOW THAT THE ADAPTER AND KITS ARE AVAILABLE.
  13. there were 3 completely different audio systems in 1993 sc300. radio p1600 had internal amp and no cd button. it is not adaptable to lexus cd changer system. if you have the premium system with cd button radio p6800 you are prewired and can plug in any first generation cd changer. the nakamichi system n104 (id number on the cassette flap door)came wioth a cd changer standard so assuming you dont have that headunit. i just realized while tyoping this that the 99 sc400 premium system radio would fit in the dash and would plug into the 92 sc p1600 no cd button system wiring harness.. i havent check it out yet but that may be the answer to switching systems. the 99 sc300 external amp could be mounted behind the glovebox and the out to speaker wires could go out from there. plus the 99 6 disc factory changer is way advanced over the 92 to 98 sc 12 disc. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com for part numbers of the amp and headunit. i think it will be a plug in and play switch. a cd changer cable would have to be run to the trunk but thats no problem. the 99 6 disc cd changer has brackets that would mount on top of the 92 subwoofewr amp bracket in the left quarterpanel.
  14. the only way to get it out is to remove the changer from its bracket then remove the black colored top of tyhe changer. if here is a cd stuck in the clamper than powering it up only way to get it out. if all the discs are still in the magazine there is a blue square eject botton on top if the magazine cage at about 7 olock if the magazine was a square clock looking from the top down . if stuck in the clamper and power is gone due to blown power board than complte disassmbly will get you the 5 cds in the magazine but not the one in the clamper. i can remove the magazines and fix theb changer if you send it to me. if yoiu attmpt to extract the magazine without power it will ruin the changer and wont be able to be refurbished.
  15. salvage yards are about the only place that has them. due to location in the low part of right quarterpanel they can easily water damaged and also damagfed easily in accident of rear fender. so they are not very plentiful.
  16. WHY WOULD YOU REPLACE THE BEST OEM SYSTEM EVER INSTALLED IN A FACTORY OEM INSTALTION . THE NAKAMICHI RADIO COST 4089.00 NEW, THE NAKAMICHI AMP 1204.00,THE CD CHANGER 1406.00, THE SUBWOOFER 446.00, THE 4 DOOR SPEAKERS 366.00 NEW. THE 2 TWEETERS 179.00 EACH. YOUR GOING TO PUT IN A 199.00 INDASH CD PLAYER? ALL THAT WILL GET IS YOUR WINDOWS BROKEN OUT BY A STEREO THEIVE. THEY DONT EVEN OWN A CASSETTE TAPE SO THEY WONT BOTHER YOUR 9000.00 NAKAMICHI STEREO. THEY CANT EVEN PRONOUNCE IT. WHEN YOUR LEXUS V8 ENGINE BREAKS ARE YOU GOING TO GO TO A HYUNDAI DEALER TO GET A BARGAIN ON A HYUNDAI 2 CYCLE DIESEL TURBO TO REPLACE IT WITH?
  17. your amplifier just needs replaced. it is in the trunk in the right quarterpanel. be sure to seall the water leak that caused it to go out. they cost around 125.00 to replace. there is no need to go aftermarket for a 125.00 fix.
  18. factory nakamichi door speAKERS ARE 4 OHM. nakamichi sub is 5 ohm. the ls400 pioneer sub is 2 ohm. there are no nakamichi 2 ohm door speakers or subwoofers on any lexus.
  19. a factory lexus changer is best. the rf changewr will not turmn on the amplifier to full fidelity. any first generation changer from lexus will work . the es 300 is small enough to fit under the passwenger seat.
  20. yes the 1000.00 liost price es300 changer was made in japan by pioneer. pioneer perfdected and brought o market the laser disc in 1984. they then marketed the first home burner of cds in 1988. every pioneer cd changers can play cdrs because they werer the company that perfected them. they are now the best dvd burner. rest asuured pioneer cd changers made for your lexus can play cdrs.
  21. no. the audio input to the headunit is controlled by a propietary code which no one has figured out. blitzsafe made an adapter but i dont think it worked as they are no longer offering it.
  22. yes it is an easy task to install the nakamichi system. you will need a nakamichi headunit with a cd button, a nakamichi subwoofer amp and the subwoofewr, a lexus 6 disc cd changer and a 16 foot cd changer cable. email me at piopneersuby@woh.rr.com and i will give you the part numbers and pictures of the items you are looking for.
  23. IVE NEVER HEARD OF P1608 ON A GS MODEL. do you have a button on your radio faceplate labeled CDcmp? or is the last button in the selection row TAPE.
  24. big g, what is the id number on your radio? the id number is on the cassette flap door where you put in the caseette . there is a number on the little flap that goes up when you put in a cassette. if there is a cassette in the there you will have to remove the cassette to see the number on the door.door by the antitheft logo. can i please have the id number so i can advise about a cd changer..is the id number p6802 or p1702
  25. if your radio has a cd button your car is prewired for a factory changer in the trunk above the amplifier in the right quarterpanel. . a factory changer is best because the radio thinks a radio station is playing and does not turn on the trunk amp under the changer to full fidelity unless you push the cd button. there is an internal equalizer in the radio that only is activated if a factory cd player is attached. . so an fm changer is no better sound than listening to the fm radio...................................................................... the cost of a working used factory changer is the same price as a new fm changer so i dont see why anyone would want less fidelity for the same money plus the factory changer is controlled by the factory cd button radio p6802 which is the id number on the cassette flap door. if you have id number p1702 then you dont have a cd button and are not prewired. . another problem with fm changers is if you get near the fm radio tower the station will interfere with the fm changer cd while it is playing. . so hopefully you buy a used factory cd changer not an fm changer. even if you have the tape only non cd button radio you could change the radio and run a cd changer cable to enjoy the high end cd changer factory sound.
