  1. TRY CLEANING THE LENS WITH WINDEX ESPEICALLY IF SMOKERS IN THE CAR. SOUNDS LIOKE LASERS OUT IF CLEANING DOESNT WORK. I WILL SEND A WORKONG MECHANISM FOR 125.00 . YOU WILL HAVE TO SWAP OUT THE PCB BOARDS AND BOARD SUPPORTS TO THE WORKING MECHANISM FROM YOUR BROKEN ONE BUT ALL OTHER PARTS WILL BE REPLACED BY SWITCHING OUT TO WORKING MECH. . IT WILL BE CHEAPEST WAY TO FIX IT. I WILL SEND SERVICE MANUAL AND DIRECTIONS TO SWITCH OUT THE PARTS.
  2. IN ANSWER TO USING A 2000 ES300 WOODGRAIN FACTORY UNIT IT IS A NEGATIVE. THE ES300 RADIO WENT TO 20 PIN PLUG LIKE ALL EXTERNAL AMPLFIED LEXUS STERES DID IN 2000 . AS TO LCD REPLACEMENT YES ITS QUITE EASY TO CHANGE OVER THE LCD YOURSELF. YOU JUST NEED INSTRUCTIONS ON FACEPLATE REMOVAL . EMAIL ME FOR INFOMATION. ON RELACING THE LCD YOURSELF. PIONEERSUBY@WOH.RR.COM
  3. your radio doesnt even have a cd changer plug on the back of it so even if they made a pioneer system interface that worked there would be no 12 pin cd changer port to plug it into. a lot of upset rx300 owners bought an unamed interface companies product and when stereo shop got the radio out there was no where to plug in the ionterface . the cd changer wires come from the amp not the radio in your rx300 and the plug is a 10 pin not a 12 pin like the INTERFACE COMPANY HAD THOUGHT. THE INTERNET STEREO SELLER ALSO UNAMED DIDNT GIVE REFUNDS EITHER LAIMING THEY ALSO WERE DUPED. ITS BEST TO BUY ONE NEW OR USED. BEWARE OF EBAY CVD CHANGERS. THE SELLERSD SAY THEIR CD CHANGER FITS EVERY GLOVEBOX APPLICATIONA ND MOST TIMES IT NAKAMICHI OR GS CHANGER OR EARLY LS NONE OF WHICH WORK ON THE RX300. BEST TO ASK FOR PART NUMBER AND CHECK WITH DELAER WHICH CHANGER YOU NEED.
  4. THEY NEVER MADE A CD CASSETTE PLAYER factory. a newer 12 or even 6 disc lexus changer would work well if you have the cd button radio with p6802 on the cassette flap door.
  5. KEY ON ACCESORY, RADIO ON. HOLD IN 1 BUTTON WHILE HOLDING UPPER END OF THE TUNE SEEK BUTTON. 3 UNDERLINES IN QUOTES WILL APPEAR AND THE TAPE OPERATION INDICAtor will appear.use 1 2 and 3 buttons to input the code.hold scan button in after code input until sec appaers then disappaers it should be working again.
  6. once its stuck in the clamper the only way to get it out is to take the entire mechanism apart. unless its an unreplacable cd not worth the truoble. i havew a mont 2000 replacemnt gs changer if you need one. email at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com 2woh.rr.com
  7. right now not many $65,000 vehicles 2002 up are in salvage yards yet. but as time gfoes on they will be showing up in salvage yards.
  8. all the headphones fromn the different mfg work on different frequencies so that is why they dont work. its a wireless fm signal so there are many fm frequecies that the headphones are setr at but only 1 freqjust like fm stations.
  9. yes its possible. the nav system wiring harnesses only require 4 connctions to your wiring harness and you caN SWITCH OVER TO NAV SYSTEM. THE NAV HAS A CONSOLE DVD PLAYER AND CAN PLAY DVDS MOVIES. THE ENTIRE SET UP COULD BE BOUGHT USED FOR AROUND 2000.00 WHICH IS EVEN LESS THAN THE OPTION WHEN NEW. THE DEALER PARTS DEPT LIST PRICE FOR THE PARTS IS OVER 10.000 BUT THE DEALER DOESNT REALLY HAVE NEW ONES TO SELL SO USED IS WAY TO GO.
  10. yes everything is plug in and play. i have done many 1992 ls400 conversions both to pioneer cd button radio p626 and to nakamichi cd button radio n004. with nakamichi conversion the subamp mounted to the left of the gas tank and subwoofer also need switched. the nak conversion is good when the paper cone of the pioneer sub has come loose. the nak sub cones are all still intact 12 years later but the pioneers arnt.............................................................................................. the most diificult part of the converesion is the cd changer cable. i have them profesionally made using real cd changer metal; shielded cable. the lexus dealer only has the main wiring harness with the cd changer wiring so the dealer will tell you conversion isnt possible. i have provided the conversion kit for several members of this club including fourdoor who has posted his results and was happy with the improved sound wihth the nakamichi cd button radio conversion................................................ email me at pioneersuby for pictures of the conversion parts and the cd changer cable with lexus connctors..................................... the cd changer power comes fromm the radio so no need to tap any power wires for the conversion . it is quite easy to do this conversion and all the ls400 owners have done the conversion without professioanl help. it also increases value of your ls400 to upgrade to the factory cd changer system . the ls400 nakamichi system was rated the best oem system ever installed in a production car.
  11. lexus makes no double din radios. they are all sloped sided.
  12. not yet. takes several; years and over several hunderd thousand vehicles before they make them. still no kit for many 90s lexus .
  13. what is the number on the cassette flap dor. they made several 95 to 2000 ls400 radio models .
  14. that is my point in saying the 1996 changer was a the ultimate lexus first generation cd changer. i didnt mean the 92 to 96 es300 cd changer was the best i meant the 1996 was the bast. pioneer worked out all the problems by then. the door and circuit boards cannot be interchanged betweeen the early and late changers they had to do such an overhaul of the early changer. . .so you need to buy a used one from a 1995 or 96. the 92 93 es300 changer had many bugs. the good changers have the date and month ink stamped at the bottom of the serial number id. . the bad changers start with serial letter m and n. the year code for the changer serial number first letter is. m 1992 , n 1993, 0 1994. p 1995 q 1996 numbers. i am sure you bought a 92 or 93 changer with a bad laser or motor........................................................................................ so next time ask for the first letter of the serial number. even if out of a 96 a 92 changer could have ended up in it. i sell perfect used 96 changers for 250.00................................................................................. i would give you some trade in on a broken 1992. better if it is a 95 or 96 but i highly doubt ther one you bought is one of the better ones. i give 1 year on used and 5 years on the new one. i still have a brand new 1996 es300 cd changer for 450.00 . it was made in may of 1996 which was the last month of production . the es300 went to the glovebox changer in 1997 which is incompatrible with the 92 to 96 es 300 radio. . they retailed for 1300.00 when they were still available in 1997 the last year they were avaiilable new.. now all the dealer has is refurbished for 500.00 which means a broken changer that was fixed.a good used 96 changer is better than the dealers refurbs. the dealers call their refurbed changers "new" but trust me they havent had a new one to sell in many years. the dealerr changers arnt new just broken and fixed. my new one is really new. it has never been installed in a vehicle and never has played a cd although i would test it before selling it .
  15. sorry for the news but that pioneer adapter from autotoys is for converting 1 pioneer aftermarket operating mbus systerm to another pioneer aftermarket pbus system . it has nothing to do with oem conversion. the 1996 es300 cd changer is the best cd changer ever made. it was made in japan and listed for 1300.00 when new. and i dont know of any not still working unless an accident or water damge in the trunk caused a problem. it plays cdr s prefectly and never skips. all the sc owners are switching to them because they are such a great cd changer. how could a 150.00 pioneer aftermarket cd changer made in malaysia be better? by the way pioneer in japan made the es300 cd changer not the malaysia division. if people you know had trouble with lexus changers than they were the sc 12 disc by panasonic., the gs 12 disc by fujitsu. the indash 6 disc 98 to 2000 lx changer by fujitsu was the worse of all. the 2001 is300 indash 6 disc only slightly better cd changer. but the best of all was the 1996 es300 cd changer lastly there is no aftermarket changer that can work directly on the es300 headunit only fm modulated which does not turn on the amp to full fidelty because it thinks fm is playing and stays on low fidelity.
  16. blitzsafe brought out an adapter to plug into the cd changer port but it didnt work. so at this point no one has done it suceesfully yet. there are 2 serial communication lines that recheck every 7,5 seconds so the adapter kept cutting out so blitzsafe pulled them off the market. lexus headunits have communication codes to the peripherals so it is going to take some real engineering to make an ipod direct to head unit adapter.
  17. the cd eject mechanism is not working. it is easily broken if the cd magazine is removed by forsce. the half of a cd might means someone tried to remove cd magazine without power when it was engaged breaking a cd in half in the process. i assume you didnt buy the car new so previous owner probably broke the mechaism enough to cause it to malfunction like it has. i can put a new eject mechanism in for 75.00. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com for more repair info.
  18. the multi function command center screen is not a nav screen dispite everyone calling them that even salvage yards. the nav unit didnt come out untill 2001 so only 3 % of rx300 have factory nav. 2001 rx300 and up are prewired for nav but not 99 . so you would need whole new nav wiring harness in addition to the nav screen , the gps antenna and the nav dvd computer. its been done on a 99 but it took a lot of wiring harness work. plan on 3500.00 for all the working used parts to make it work. the dealer list price for new is over 10,000.00 but i am sure they dont even have them in stock new but only refurbished so the list price is kind of hokey because a dealer couldnt get you a new one even if you wanted it. . i see the dealers asking 3 to 4000.00 more for a used 2001 up rx300 with nav versus comparably equipeed without so thats the real value not 10,000.00 . so if you could get the rx300 nav system parts and installed for 3000.00 then at least you could get your money back if you had to sell it the next few years by increased resale value.
  19. hello. yes i can help you try to extract it. you would have to remove the cd changer from the dash. the glovebox only held on by phillips screws and some pop out tabs . once glovebox off remove the 4 nuts holding on the changer brackets. unplug the 12 pin changer plug. remove all the screws on the changer case and it will come off in 2 pieces. . on the bottom of the changer about 7 oclock there is a manual eject lever to try to extract it. if that still doesnt work you may have to send it to me to disasemnble the cd changger mechanism to see what is stuck. possible the elevation motor is stuck. usually the jam happens because the magazine needs to be pushed on the center of the magazine. there is no automatic mechanism like a vcr. if presure applied to the corner of the magazine it will jam. if it is extracted by force it will ruin the mechanism so its not woth that. the list price for a new one is $2,441.50 if you can believe that.
  20. 600.00 price is for switching everything to ls400 nakamichi. the switch to pioneer cd changer system means no subwoofer and subamp switches just changing the radio to p1609 cd button type and adding the cd changer cable and lexus cd changer. that switch is only 375.00. i am going to list it next.
  21. yes all first generation changers are crosscomaptible. sc, ls, gs es all will work in any of the fisrt generation models. but the sc 12 disc is a poorly made panasonic and es300 1996 changer is the best of all the changers. so i wouldnt recommend putting sc in unless you get one free. it skipos, doesnt play cdrs well and jams all the timne. the 1996 ews 300 loads quickly plays any cdr s well amnd doesnt skip when mounted well.
  22. yes remove all the phillips srews and the 2 popouts are midway on either side of the latch and the phillips screw in the picture. i have a picture to email if you send me your email address.
  23. yes i have extracted many cd magazines. the magazine has to be inserted with a thumb in the middle of the magazine. if pressured by either corner of the magazine it will jam. there is even an arrow on the magzine saying to push it in by pressure on the middle. kids are used to vcr magazines which have automatic loading mechanism which can be pushed in by corner presuure without a jsmming problem. this is owner fixable with proper instructions on cd changer removal from the dash. here goes some instructions but pictures can be emailed or faxed. the lower glovebox is attached by popouts.you have to pull the top edge of lower glovebox . it takes a good tug. once the wood faceplate is detached the woodfaceplate screws will be visibleand can it be removed. then the cd changer 4 nuts can be removed. there is a manual eject in the bottom right rear corner of the changer . stick a small screw driver and push the manual eject lever. if that doesnt eject it the changer will have to be taken apart to extract the magazine . you do not want to just pull out the magazine by forse or it will ruin the changer. i have sent an email through the club for pictures to be sent on glovebox removal.
  24. charles, yes just going to pioneer cd changer sound system on your 93 ls400 saves switching out the nakamichi sub and the nakamichi subamp . so you will just need to switch out to cd button radio p1609, and add the cd changer and the custom made cd changer cable. the ibus cable only has 10 wires and the wrong connectors so a new custom made lexus ls400 cable has to be run. they are nmot available at the dealer . the lexus dealer will say its not possible but i have switched many first generation ls, gs and sc sound systems to both pioneer and nakamichi cd changer systems by adding the cd button radios and the cd changer cable. the entire switch is plug in and play. the cd changer power is in the cd changer cable so there absoultely no wire splicing or p[ower tapping like switching to aftermarket and it will sound better because the factory speakers and amps are matched for lexus interioir.
  25. the gs glovebox comes off in 1 piece. just unsrew all the phillips screws holding it on. the equalizer is attached to the back of the cd changer by a blue square connctor. follow the wire to the equalizer. inspect for water damage signs.
