  1. That is the worst way to mod an intake and always causes problems by throwing a intake system drawing in engine bay air you should know that.
  2. H4 bulbs are dual filament. You need to buy a kit that adapts to using OEM ballasts. www.hidplanet.com should answer all other questions.
  3. plastic housings and overwattage bulbs do not mix never mind the need to rewire them as the stock wiring is only made for half the power.
  4. it may be your spring clanging against itself , the shock may be worn out. use some hose and cut it so you can wrap the spring to see if it stops.
  5. My brake pad wear indicator came on about a week ago so i know i had to change my pads and decided to do the whole thing fresh. I ordered a set of drilled rotors and pbr pads for all 4 corners. I had the fronts double drilled as they are 13 inches and can handle quite a few holes. All holes were also chamfered which reduce stress points on the edges by having a large load bearing surface to disperse heat better and prevent any chance of cracking. I am not worried about cracking as i don;t autocross or track the car which would involve such high heat temps. The rotors like most aftermarket ones are not perfect but are very straight after spinning them. The only deficiency was the vanes uses to cool the rotors are not the exact same length so it may cause a slight balance issue later. For now they are holding perfectly fine in balance and the car is smooth. I wanted Brembo rotors but they do not list them for the 95-2000 LS although tire rack lists them. I basically got a everything for $250 for 4 rotors and front and rear pads. I also wanted to use project Mu pads but they only carry the supra ones ,hawk was another option but also had no listing. I had some Project Mu (supra TT) ones at the shop and compared them. They are the exact same pad size the only difference is it has 2 smaller nubs on the bottom of each pad as well as not having a space for the brake wear sensor. So i was stuck using the PBR Australian pads. I also tried to find SS brake lines but no one lists them for the car but some said that the GS300/400 lines are the same. Later on i will try and see if i can use them. Also if i find a stock Supra TT rotor to compare i will try and get a factory replacement 2 piece rotor. it will be more expensive but is much lighter and stronger. As this was the first time doing the car i took my time to make sure i knew where everything went . As well i wanted to inspect every part in there. It ended up taking me 4 hours on a hoist but only because i was being thorough and wire wheeled all nuts to remove any rust as well as applying anti seize to everything. I ended up finding that the front rotor screws were damaged from previous techs not using the proper Phillips head to remove them . I have to replace the right rear piston seal for the caliper as that is damaged from a previous tech not looking what they were doing and the piston seal pushed out when the piston was pushed back in to mount new pads. My rear parking brake shoes are also worn quite a bit so they need replacing also. Which is also going to make me order a new shock to make sure the parking brake is fully off from now on as it seems to not fully release and cause the shoes to get eaten up. The pad sensors are located on both right sides on the inner pads . From the way it is made it wears out the plastic coating which houses a small metal wire. So as the pads go down they allow the rotors to wear out the plastic exposing the metal. Once the wire is exposed and subsequently worn down it has to be replaced as it now has made an open circuit. I am surprised that it costs $50 for the damn wire as i can buy BMW sensors for $20 or less. Also i have not found any aftermarket sensors as this is not something i feel makes a difference in reliability as it is just made to burn up. Pressing in 4 piston calipers are a pain to say the least and it makes it worse if you have anodized calipers which you do not want to damage the finish on. Trying to crack the bleed screw while pressing in the piston to remove older fluid which has the most air out from behind each piston is not easy. It has made a good difference in pedal feel from that as well as reapplying anti seize to all floating assemblies. and spraying lube into each pistons dust boots to ensure a good seal and corrosion resistance. So far they are great for stopping power compared to stock but i have not bedded them down enough to know for sure . Once the pads and rotors are seated i will take them more out for a test. So right now they stop great ,have no vibrations and no squeeling . Not bad for $250
  6. Do you have a coin inside the cigarette lighter? I don;t think it is the ECU as that is run by a switch not a controller. You may have burnt bulbs but i would lean to a fuse. Did you also check the fuses in the engine bay area?
  7. You did not disconnect the battery ? Did you start or turn the key with the lights out?>
  8. what is the bulb type as in its size not who made it
  9. What bulbs does your car have now?
  10. It is not going to be plug and play. You need to figure out how much you want to spend in making the retrokit work and how DIY you are. 9006 bases for the bulbs or buying new 9006 d2r bulbs making or buying a wiring harness
  11. You would need to find out the terminals as well as making the resister for the circuit you are making.
  12. DO you or did you ever have an alarm installed in it?
  13. As usual i am always wondering about things and today it is what brought you to the LOC community . Did you hear about us through word of mouth , Google or another search engine or another Lexus club?
  14. If you think the mxv are bad now wait till they wear out some more. I used to love its predecessor the Michelin X-one but i can;t find them anymore. Still never found a tire that does all things equally great if any at all. Have snows and summers to get around easily , now if only i lived in California :(
  15. too much to read ,did you clean your throttle body and iacv? how are the engine mounts
  16. My funny retort to some press at the unveiling was Now that is a car.............. Like i said to someone at the show who mentioned getting a chauffeur if they bought it. I was like hell no , i would drive it to the mall ,park and let my wife go shopping . Then i would jump into the back seat while i put the rear window shades (sides and rear) and watch a movie while doing a crossword on the burlwood picnic table. Have a nice massage while kick up on my recliner/ottoman.
  17. Here is the press release For immediate release January 8, 2006 Lexus Reveals Fourth-Generation LS 460 Flagship Sedan – 2007 LS 460 to Offer Standard and Long Wheelbase Models (DETROIT) – Lexus revealed the all-new 2007 LS 460 and the company’s first-ever long wheelbase model, the LS 460L, today at a press conference at the 2006 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Seventeen years after its initial launch in Detroit, the redesigned LS now combines new levels of performance, sophistication, contemporary styling and luxury refinements. "The Lexus LS 460 was designed to expand the definition of the full-size prestige luxury sedan," said Stuart Payne, Director of Lexus in Canada. "The new LS is the product of an advanced production process developed specifically for this vehicle with remarkable new levels of accuracy, refinement, precision and craftsmanship.” High Output V8, World’s First 8-Speed Transmission The LS will be powered by an all-new highly advanced 4.6-litre V8 engine that will produce approximately 360 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque. Combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission, a world-first, the LS 460 will travel from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5.5 seconds. With that level of performance, the new LS will achieve an impressive combined city/highway fuel-efficiency that is estimated to be in the high 20 mpg (US estimate) range. Lexus also anticipates receiving an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV II) rating. Ultra-Advanced Dynamics The new LS is built on a sophisticated platform that maintains a delicate balance between ride comfort and responsive handling. The completely redesigned multilink suspension system includes an all-new variable gear ratio electronic power steering system and a next-generation Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system. VDIM is an all-new system that integrates and manages a new Electronically Controlled Brake system (ECB), Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS), Electric Power Steering (EPS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), ABS, Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and engine torque via the electronically controlled throttle. Monitoring a variety of sensors, the system is designed to anticipate the onset of a vehicle skid or slide and then help correct the situation with a combination of braking, throttle and steering control in a way that’s essentially transparent to the driver. Data is gathered from more sources and processed earlier and faster than previous designs, helping to make VDIM less obtrusive yet highly effective. First Long Wheelbase Sedan At nearly 5156 mm (203 inches), the long wheelbase LS 460L provides an even higher level of comfort and convenience features along with some of the most advanced technology ever offered in a production automobile. The four-passenger compartment of the LS 460L transports its rear-seat passengers in an environment whose luxury accoutrements closely resemble to that of a private jet. Luxury, Redefined by Lexus Lexus’ intelligent technology and emotionally evocative design is clearly evident throughout the beautifully appointed cabin. The extra touches of luxury and comfort include a heated steering wheel and seats swathed in one of four tones of semi-aniline leathers that match one of three coordinating wood-grain trims. Rear occupants can relax and enjoy power reclining seats equipped with power leg rests and even a massage feature. The new LS even offers body-heat sensors that help maintain the perfect temperature for all occupants. A fold-away table matched to the interior wood grain provides ample work space for rear passengers. The LS also features a 9-inch headliner-mounted rear-screen monitor along with an all-new 19-speaker Mark Levinson® audio system that provides a true theatre-level entertainment experience. Additional luxury convenience features include a power rear-door closer and a powered trunk lid. New Lexus Design Direction Over the last two years, Lexus has developed a new styling philosophy that it calls L-Finesse. This new design language rests upon the inherent contrast between simplicity and elegance—and the beauty of achieving a balance between the two. Simplicity, in form and function, reflects styling that is uncluttered and void of extraneous elements. Lexus elegance, inside and out, avoids exaggeration by prioritizing understated luxury that is intriguing, subtle, seamless and slightly surprising. Lexus imbued this new styling direction in the development of the 2006 GS and IS series sport sedans. The new LS takes the L-Finesse visual philosophy to an even higher level, revealing a family resemblance in the new Lexus sedans, and one that conveys elegance, refinement and a strong emotional appeal. The 2007 Lexus LS 460 is targeted for sale beginning in the fall of 2006. Further information on the all-new LS 460, including its advanced safety and innovative technology features, will be available closer to launch. 18. Just to add to the new ES and the engine cover . Most luxury cars do have large covers. I like the look and when sleeping it clean it is much easier to wipe down an engine cover than wash a complete engine. Also here is something to think about. When is the last time you opened a Lexus hood and saw an engine light ............................................................. never , they never made one expecting an owner to look in there for something. I saw the ES yesterday and it was a very nice improvement which follows in the new L-finesse design which definitely is a winner. Sorry i can;t tell you more about it but i spent the whole time sitting inside the new LS460 and playing with it to even remember there was another car even the GS450h did not register much with me as i had tunnel vision for the LS only.
  19. Well Yesterday i went to the show to see one thing only and that was the LS460. It was unveiled right after the Es350 was which was hardly a blip according to the media's camera shutters. I have pics but it looks the same as most shown before with the only difference is me being in them with the new LS. The LS shown is the same one making all the rounds for all the major shows in the world. Which means it is a prototype just as the IS 250 and 350 i saw last summer before its official release. For a prototype it was true Lexus quality even in its unfinished garb. The seams were clean the edges crisp and all material well chosen. It was pretty much correct right down to having the ML amp housed on the right corner of the trunk with a flashlight and toolkit also hidden under the carpet. It was missing a few push pins to hold things tight but nothing glaringly different than opening any other Lexus trunk. I also noticed on all the seams of the doors that they were non existent. If you look at any car you see where the skin (outer shell) meets the skeleton and are welded and sealed. This particular car had no seams and looked so clean because of it. Not sure if it has anything to do with a prototype vehicle over productions ones but it was esthetically pleasing. The funniest part is when you go look at a car the first thing you do is get in the drivers seat. I advertently made a b line straight to the right rear seat to check out the ottoman (as designated by the buttons) seat. To put the rumour to rest as no one is ever sure from the pics is that the right rear seat is fully reclinable and a the left rear seat is only reclinable with no footrest to come up . There are also buttons that move the front passenger seats forward to make room for you as well . It uses body temp to adjust the heat/cold settings as are the other controls for the rest of the HVAC system , audio and seat controls placed beside the seat on the center console. The upper part of the armrest hides the DVD player and a storage area. It has a drop down screen to watch the movies on which is trimmed in wood as most of the car. To add the whole roof-liner is a nice grey suede . It has self closing rear doors and trunk which in keeping with the LS is still rather large. The rear area has side and rear motorized sunshades (privacy screens). It definitely looks like a great car and i would sure love one . It stays true to being a Lexus as the LS always has and i can;t wait to not hear on on the road at least until i get to drive one . Personally it is what i expect and love about Lexus but still wondering why it took so long to finally bring the same features in the Japanese cars over here since it is the same model Toyota Celsior which had a complete rear setup almost like this since 1990. Now when they finally get together there tuner division for the Luxury owner i will definitely say they are complete until then they have the reliability cornered with looks on par with other luxury makers.
  20. More than likely it is your bearings in the wheel hub causing. if you have a wheel not balanced properly it will cause the worn hub to activate the abs . Does the abs actually get activated by pulsing the pedal or is it just activating the abs light?
  21. SOunds like the throttle body may be dirty or they damaged a wire to the TPS . If the iacv is dirty it can cause the idle to fluctuate as it keeps opening and closing to compensate causing the wild rpms. Start by cleaning your throttle body.
  22. Yes it does matter ,other wise you would just reheat the fluid you just cooled. Coolers can help but your tranny does need heat to work as well. The filter also has to be put in the right direction also of the bypass valve will not work either if it gets plugged. Heat is not a problem i seem to have so i do not want to add a cooler especially since it can lead to a pressure drop . Just by turning the A/c on you can lower the temp of the trany fluid by 20-30 degrees which is a great reduction in stop and go traffic which is where it ts needed most.
  23. I suppose it is a 1990 model? The only thing different is the "L" for Lexus instead of the "T" for toyota You can just buy the center emblem cheaper than it would be to ship the grilles
