  1. Then of the fast idle is much higher than normal but is steps down normally once warm i might suspect a bad temp sender saying it is colder than it actually is ,as well as checking your coolant. Also TB's can get pluged closed as well as being stuck open which causes a higher idle.
  2. I have seen them stuck on and fibre glassed into the mirror housing. Either way they do not look natural. It reminds me of the LX mirrors which is very big as they bulge out from the housing. It would look nicer if you added just the led signal part and left the rest of housing to a little body filler and paint for a more factory look.
  3. 2000 for a few seconds on inital start up is not a strange thing at all. Did it never idle this high before?
  4. It is a major pain in the !Removed! to get the power wire in the car and then in the trunk after. Pay someone else to do it unless you have lots of time. I had to jack up the car , fish the wire through the fender and inside the support frame just to get it into the car without drilling. I found one grommet but it is no where near easy to access in the drivers fender. BTW how much did you spend on the sub and amp? Are you using the H.O. box for the w7 or the pro wedge?
  5. I didn't know anyone was talking about a AWD tranny?
  6. They all screw on but the ES and GS use the same size. The LS RX GX and LX use a larger shifter by about 1 inch. Using the wrong one looks really out of place.
  7. Interesting. That is the exact same setup i am going to be installing in my car. I will be runngin the wire tommorow so i have no clue right now.
  8. My 400 uses 5.5 liters
  9. artbuc make a new post with the detials of temp outside and the rpm , we can best answer you there. thanks
  10. I have another take on the problem. I made a post awhile ago about the interior cabin temp sensor. It has a vacuum that sucks air past it from the ventilation system. Over time it gets dust and dirt build up causing the sensor to be inaccurate. It basically needs to be cleaned as the dust causes the sensor to not see the actual temp of the cabin air as the dust is an insulator. Only when the dust heats up enough to transfer the heat will the fan speed decrease . If you look to your dash beside your right knee you will see a small 1 inch opening that has a few slots. It is where the air is being injected for the sensor. There are 2 ways to clean it the proper way is to remove the panel and sensor and wipe it clean with a q-tip. The second is to take compressed air and blow it into the opening with the heater on full fan and recirculation. You could see the debris come out the vents. let us know how it works out as i had similar problems over time on both my Lexus'. As soon as i had done this to my LS i noticed that the fan and temp of the air would increase almost instantly when i open a door and the cold air comes rushing in and cooling the sensor.
  11. Adding diff oil would just mix with the tranny fluid and not be good for the FWD tranny. I use motul synthetic in my rear diff on the LS.
  12. Audio is a very opinionated and subjective thing to evaluate. What sounds good to you may infact sound horrible to others.
  13. Your egr valve may be getting stuck open which will cause an increase in gas milage. I can get about 600 km a tank in my ES with it open but the car has lost some power.
  14. Most dealers have a discount if you buy 3 or 4 ,i get 3 filters for $15 (Canadian)with the drain plug gaskets included. So those filters are not much of a better deal after shipping than the dealer. For the few cents i would rather go to the dealer . I have no clue on the truth behind who makes what to weigh in though.
  15. I might look in the tutorial section as i know i did a full write up on replacing mine years ago.
  16. I was only asking as a reference on how to tackle the changing of the bulbs as i have HID's OEM on my LS but you have Halogens as an option instead. Thus i would not be able to give you a perfect representation of how to change a halogen bulb.
  17. wireless. I was thinking about using a tape adapter .
  18. do you have HID's or halogens on your 98?
  19. After having XM for 1 week for 2 10 hour road trips i can say the Delphi xm roady using an FM modulator truly sucks for audio quality. It sounds like crappy MP3's the normal FM radio has better quality.
  20. Mine still don;t squeel with aftermarket drilled rotors and pads. I did use anti squeel on all shims and pad backing surfaces though
  21. How do you know it is not engaging like it is supposed to ,details>?
  22. I agree getting the used motor might suck but unless you bought your car new you have no exact indicator of its usage. I agree also with getting the compression test as well get a leak down test and have a oil leak guarantee in writing as well for a certain period like 90-120 days.
  23. I used to belive there was a huge difference and was only going to use red. After speaking with a guru of sorts he explained it is mainly the base and a colouring . Flush it and you will be ok , as long as it is not dexcool then it is no major problem hell the pink stuff is long life so go and get that instead. good luck
  24. Yes a charger would make it louder ,with a more whining from the belt
