  1. yes you can do it but it is more expensive for a conversion verses replacment , i did it and it is close to $400 instead of $100
  2. it has to do with the idle up air bypass and the power steering for low idle , it is not a big problem but is not simple to fix , no diy
  3. read the FAQ it is very common but can't use a solid pipe

  5. Just an update 8 months or so later. I love driving my GS 430 over my LS 400 when it comes to control . In the winter with snow it can be a bit touchy and will allow the wheels to slip when you hit the gas hard. Somehow it has allowed the traction control to roll back atleast 15-30% . So if i give it gas and make a left hand turn it will let the rear kick out a touch which it never did when used in stage 1 , never tried it on stage 2 but with it off , it will make the triple beep before you need to make a steering wheel correction . Gas milage is just as before after you stop wanting to feel the power all day . My wife has a hard time remembering so she turns it off. As soon as i get off my driveway i am reaching to put it into 3 from D and hit the power switch . Then remember the button and it feels like the world is perfect again .
  6. Drove one last week and liked the styling accents and interior but the performance and the quick rewrapping of Subaru interior panels is weak. For me i want to go when i need to and this car made me wonder "what's the point? " . Way too slow to merge into fat moving traffic as the corolla felt much more responsive . Nice idea but unless you live in a downtown core or a large city with occasional road trips it just is not a car i would look at . I know i was biased going into the test drive but thought i would give it a chance . Wish it had done better but it is still a mish mash of Subaru and Saab (GM) and not a true Lexus . I prefer the Subaru as it is a beautiful drive in so many ways.
  7. cleaning the iacv only helps if it is still working , if it has been glued stuck long enough it is dead
  8. you need to rekey the cylinder . It sounds like the door keys and lock cylinders where changed but the ignition left , probably after loosing them somewhere. You can replace the pins in the tumbler for the ignition and use the key for the doors to start it . Find a locksmith who can do the service repinning , get the key programmed if needed at the dealer or locksmith for the transponder to start the car .

  10. JP tails go for for 1000-1200 new and 700-800 used , Cheap is not even a relative word with JP. Find a different style and brand for cheap .
  11. the stock amp couldn't push an aftermarket 5inch full range cone. The amp is made for efficiency not power . Get an after market amp and sub if you want more . Otherwise a new sub will give you less with the oem amp .
  12. I am sure they have a few 93-97 GS camber kits. Have you gotten the alignment done since the drop? Are the arms already adjusted to there max positions ?
  13. Are they new OEM from the dealer or new to you from another car ? The horns are drawing too much current , either get new ones or a wiring harness and relay
  14. could be either , tons of topics since 1998 when lexus started with HID's . Start by swapping a bulb.
  15. you can stagger them but your better off with matching wheels and a rear spacer as it is a fwd .
  16. if you have that many problems, start with a new battery. I am sure there is a button under the dash (by the pedals )for the beeps to be turned on and off .

  18. 10 inch and wider rims and a sub 20 offset is a more aggressive fitment . Those are standard sizes above.
  19. if one side is dead the timing belt skipped a few teeth on that side cam. Get a proper technician to look at it .
  20. front strut rods are gone and the camber arm is just that. it is a part and it wears , the bushing is dead.
  21. Coolant temp sensor can be bad and still read on the dash , doesn't mean it is any good , just working. You problem is fuel as the spark and timing seem to be working fine once fluid is added. Get some seafoam for the oil and a full can for 1/2 tank of gas , google for ways to do it . It sounds to be injector related and I think you car has a cold start injector in the intake which may not be working.
  22. pick a year range as 98-00 or 01-05 are not the same for build or power . A 6 speed is a waste of money , might as well get a 300 if you want that route as well as the same thing for forced induction . You are starting with the wrong car . Even with a 300 to do the swap and build to reliability you are looking at 15K .
  23. the wrong head gasket is a good idea , also check to make sure the fan is running , does the secondary electric fan come on when it is overheating? Also checked for a plugged rad.
  24. You need to bleed the brakes by removing it from the other end . Removing old fluid from the res is like washing your car with rain . Or better yet pretending your eating healthy by chewing lots of vegetables and then spitting it out. You need new fluid to pump through the system to flush out the old dirt and air . The warn is next to everyone's name and yours is zero.
