  4. I have 270 000 km on my LS ,aslo i actually use 20-40 not 50 as i looked again . As well it is Motul synthetic based ester ($100 a an change) well beyond mobil 1 in price and protection. When it is hot its pour rate is beautifully smooth but not thin. Also in Toronto we have traffic which is second to New York and California but with higher volume than either as we have 16 lane highways that are at full stand still from 4-6. I do alot of time in this which is why i use a thicker oil. If my engien was new i would not be using such a thicker oil but it is well beyond new.
  5. The noise cannot damage the engine , it only makes for it being noisy and for reduced power and gas milage. Try changing your oil to a thicker one or just changing it depending on the last change time. I also prefer synthetic as it makes the engien much quieter. I run 20-50 summer and 0-30 winter

  7. It is called carbon tracking and happens on the starter's solenoid. When a low voltage situation keeps happening over time it leaves a trail of carbon making it harder to start progressivly getting worse. Making sure the battery is always good is much cheaper than a replament starter.
  8. Take it to the dealer , they may have already had 4 keys set to the system which is its max. Have you done the procedure to see how many keys are in the system?
  9. Hey , it would work great to log things that happen in an easy to follow chronological date format and as far as i know they are free and everywhere. The closest i have been to them is the one they mentioned on the tv show "lost" , so i am not an expert in any way of them. Army if you could also make you sig smaller as it is quite a few lines big especially for someone with a smaller screen. thanks
  10. Don't worry Josh most of the MB line up is just as flawed as the SL .Just the SL was one of the more expensive ones. Until recently i worked as an Inspector for MB and there is ubelivable poor reliability for what you pay for.
  11. Thanks for the tip bart
  12. Have you ever thought of making a " BLOG" page Army? That way you could keep all of those interested in the day to day intracasies of your life up to date with what is new and happening on a daily basis !
  13. Remove the transmission valve body and have it service /cleaned then add an inline filter to catch other debris floating. Search "inline"

  15. The only thing i could add is, in some states it is as easy as walking into a store and buying a gun. I remember a few years ago in a pawn shop wasting some time and seeing all these guns laying in a cabinet. I asked they guy ( as it is no where even close to what we have in Ontario to purchase a gun) what do you need to buy one he replied cash and a drivers licence that's it. So some states may have proper training to own or purchase one but others do not have anything that most would find safe to hand over one.
  16. Big400 have you seen the WDBSK vin'd SL's open and close the retractable hardtop ? I doubt you have, as it is a work of art to watch it much more than the SC's roof.
  17. If you have receipts of normal oil changes you will get a new engine for free at the dealer. Search for "sludge"
  18. Need more info. do the rpms fly up when you hit the gas but it goes no where? Or do you press the gas and the car drives slowly is there a certain temp speed rpm or any other specific environment that happens at the same time?
  19. Very nice car with a beutifully designed roof. But you already know the rest of issues it comes with. The SC would be the closest to comparable but it definatly does not have the same beauty that the SL commands.
  20. I would connect the fans motor to the battery then run a relay to turn them on. Now in regards to having 2 separate turn on remote wires , one from the a/c (only activated when the car is on) and the other for temp you would need to add 2 diodes to direct the current flow. By having the fans from the battery it will have full power rather than from the fuse system. Run the turn on wire from the fuse box to a switched fuse as any will do as it is only for a relay turn on and not really powering anything. Do you really want it to be able to keep running after the car is off?
  21. Go to a parking lot and drive in reverse and apply the brakes hard this usually adjusts them. Most people never apply hard pressure in reverse normally so they do get out of adjustment.
  22. his uncle ?
  23. Usually locking and unlocking the door with the key inserted resets the system.
  24. There is no transponder in pre 97 SC's so another key won;t disarm the alarm
