  1. Perserverance works every time. Congrats>>>>>>>>>>>>.
  2. Hey Paul, What does your temp gauge register?
  3. Three weeks should not affect it. Make sure when you drive it that the oil and engine come up to temperature to burn off h2O buildup. Two months or more you will need Jack stands, Disconnect the negative Battery terminal, crack the windows and fuel additive. Being in Nevada, you should have no problems.
  4. Hi VBdenny and Pepicou, I understand what VB is saying about gas prices in Europe as I have spent at least six years there and Loved it, but must admit the U.S. Military subsidized a part of the gas expenditure with "Gas Stamps"and still find it hard to believe you can afford a V-8 gas bill every month but admire your dedication to a fine automobile. Some things are worth the price. Politics aside, I still Love France and its ambiance even though we have had a difference of opinion. We are still friends and will always be so. Maybe, if a few more Muslims drove Lexus and our club helped them we could reach a human side to all of this craziness and realize that people are people and we all have the same aspirations for our families but in retrospect, there are so many obstacles and so much hate that it would be called wishfull thinking, but it sure would be nice for us all to interact on a human level without political, religious or geographic mis-interpretations of one another's feelings. I guess what I am saying Pepicou, is you should have a "BIG" wine cellar as we will make sure you enjoy your Lexus experience as we are all on solid ground and will support you as best we can. please don't take this any other way than "Viva La France" and "God Bless America" and "Long Live The Queen"and "Praise Allah", ETC.,ETc.,ETC.
  5. Go to lexls.com and in the tutorial section you will find out how to remove the yellow lenses on the fog lights and a host of other goodies..
  6. Came with a nice set of "Coach" luggage in the trunk. larryp is correct about length and color.
  7. Very simple!!! Just put a wrench on the tension pully {Spring Loaded} and turn I believe clockwise and then slip the old belt off. You should find a diagram under the hood of the belt position. Just follow that and release the tension pully and you are done. If there is not a diagram then draw a sketch of the position of the old belt and double check it for accuracy. Also keep the old belt in the trunk for emergencies on the road.
  8. search member wandawoods and you will find a tutorial. A real easy fix. The gear has to be moved out a bit. I used a plastic washer and the gear lined up perfectly with the worm drive.
  9. Hi. I think that you should find one with a black interior. A whole lot less heartache and trouble. It can be done but just keep picturing a black interior in your minds eye and the right one will come along. Life is all about dreaming and if you can picture it you will have it. Be patient and check out E-bay but be wary, but since your father is a mechanic I think the right one will come along. Just be patient.
  10. I would try to locate the previous owner and find out what problems he had previously. The power wash was definitely a bad idea. Listen for the antennae motor when you turn on the radio. If you hear it, it would be a busted cable If you don't it could be a fuse. Check for power at the mast in the trunk with a voltmeter. I doubt the wash had such an effect on the cluster and more than likely it is the capacitors. If, after 500 miles you still have the shutter problem I would ask him to either fix it or give it back to him. Nice looking car though but don't become attached until this is resolved. Good luck.
  11. When was the last tuneup? Could be plug wires arcing, rotor, plugs etc. or fould injector.
  12. Simple..........set it 1 or 2 mph below.. but seriously, set it on the up speed and not the down..or.. vica, versa. but on mine it's as you accelerate and reach your speed, "set" it.
  13. you mentioned power steering and then oil tube. Are you referring to the high pressure hose under the power steering pump? A picture would be helpful.
  14. Mine is the same way and I have been watching this thread.
  15. I hope it works out for you, but expect your return as the LS is hard to get out of one's system. We will welcome you back with open arms, Good Luck, hope to see you back.
  16. you might try asking that question in the SC400 forum.
  17. I agree with Blake819. I would keep the 4,000.00 and buy an extended warranty and save the rest to have for quirky problems that may arrise, if any.
  18. check all connectors and wiring under seat.
  19. Could be a vacuum leak. Mine did that on my ex wife's VW and it was a bad vacuum hose. Check all hoses especially near the throttle body.
  20. I looked into that and it introduces a number of negatives as far as manueverability and campground requirements as well as liscenseing. Think I'll get a jeep and be done with it. The Prevost is for European and affluent Americans that would like to join Caravans and see the sights in the USA,Canada and Mexico. I thought the LS would be a way to go First Class as they could go off on jaunts and sight-seeing by themselves. We would be the guides and stay in cabins or motels at night as well as cook and pamper in general. I won't go into details since I am not advertising here. Thanks again.
  21. Are you in the "Lexus LS400 / Lexus LS430 Forums" section? I would think that management can get you there. If no "Scream" :chairshot:
  22. Check out the "Used Lexus Buying Guide" In the "Important Topics" That should give you a feel.
  23. Thanks for the answers guys. I appreciate your help.
