  1. I had the same problem and a new gasket fixed it.
  2. Welcome to the club. We hope we can help.
  3. Try these guys http://www.autoanything.com/shopping_guide...ndow_deflectors
  4. It should tell you on your service sheet if it was a TB.
  5. If it needed a charge the light would not blink because the compressor would not kick in because of a pressure switch in the line. It would stay green when turned on. Blinking is usually the compressor. Either bad or the speed feedback wires underneath the compressor.
  6. Thanks Shadow, I really appreciate it.
  7. Ribbler, I spent 20 years in south florida and never saw rust on cars, only if left on the beach during an incoming tide. South Florida cars are usually preferred because of the climate and no salt on the roads. Low mileage, to me indicates snow birds that go down in the winter when its bearable and then leave them in garages during the summer when they go back north. The only danger is Hurricane flooding and then the car would show up as salvage.
  8. Thanks Shadow. I just need the procedure for pulling the driver's door panel off cleanly. An Adobe file would be nice, if possible.
  9. Sounds like between Mikado and connecting and disconnecting your battery you have a failed clock circuitry. Could be as simple as a connector to the board or other. I would try pulling the lcd panel out and checking the connectors and try again. Sorry, not much help I Know, but worth a try.
  10. Congratulations!!!!And best of luck
  11. The 94 sounds like the one. Just ask for a refundable deposit based on your inspection. $300 difference should cover some of the air expenses and if it checks out, you are way ahead. Figure at least $2k on wear and tear on the high mileage car even if well maintained. The Lexus dark green is beautiful IMHO.
  12. mine does the same thing. Turn the key and the alarm goes off without even opening the door. I have resigned myself to only unlock from the passenger side. Now my key wont even tumble on the drivers side and the lock is loose. I have to pull the driver side panel off and see what is going on, tried it once and got to the destruct phase and quit. Someone here will help us.
  13. The only thing I can think of is when you reset the clock hit "set" or "clock" again. Can't exactly remember but follow the procedure in your owner's manual.
  14. The fans usually kick in when it is very hot and you are "low" on freon as the condensor will heat up.I believe, Later models went to a single fan. The radiator fan seems to be enough to keep the condensor cool during normal driving if the freon level is normal. I suspect it would be for harsh conditions such as stop and go or places like the desert :D I've only seen mine come on once and that was when I was low on Freon. Seriously, the Lexus Engineers really covered all the bases and this is an example of over engineering on our behalf. Relax and enjoy the ride.
  15. Mine don't come on until the car reaches a certain temperature. I assume you are talking about the fans in front of the Radiator/condensor.
  16. SWO3ES Since you are Management and drive a 300 and have admitted you don't have ECT wouldn't it be be prudent for you to let us 400/430 owners battle this out? Yoy seem to be adament about this subject and I can't imagine why. There is definitely a difference in performance and a degradation in gas mileage. You should read up on RPM/Torque ratios before you step in and make an opinion. Read 90% of these responses and you will see it makes a difference in RPM/Torque to 400/430 owners. Is there a LS400/430 Manager on this forum? I have seen you are well informed and provide a lot of help to Lexus owners. You have done well, and I respect that. Sometimes you have to realize to back off of a subject you are not informed on ie: 400/430. No disrespect, but I have been watching your responses and when you get a lexus with ECT I will be more willing to accept your opinion. You stated that you would prefer a new Avalon over a used LS 430, That said it all to me. IMHO. You are welcome to put a warning on me, but I would advise you to take this criticism as a boundarie you can't cross until you have an LS. Look forward to seeing your new one.
  17. Make sure all the supports in the seat are inflated with the support buttons to your liking. I know there is a switch for lumbar and assume the 430 has a bottom support button also.
  18. Great!! Make sure the connectors to the terminals are "tight". This happened to me and they did a check and all appeared okay. Then when I got home I checked them on a whim and the negative was loose. Enough to run radio, lights etc. But when the starter needed amps not enough contact. Good Luck!!
  19. I believe "Autozone" will do the check for free. If the battery is a "Die Hard" Sears will do it for free.
  20. usually sport is for firming up the supension.
  21. My Mechanic told me the connector usually can go bad due to dirt and grime because it is under the compressor. Just clean it with some contac spray. The problem usually shows up with a blinking ac light. Which some people diagnose as a bad compressor. Could be either one. In your case a gauge set up on high and low end can tell you if it is the expansion valve, which sounds more likely since the light is not blinking.
  22. From LOC U.K. Full Version: Ect Power Button Lexus Owners Club > Lexus Models > SC Models Bobbys LexyJan 28 2003, 05:30 PM Has anyone tried using the Powerbutton feature? Also do you notice if you get a lot more acceleration when using this? How about fuel consumption? shahviJan 28 2003, 07:05 PM The ECT/Power button sweet for traffic light getaways and when overtaking. It makes the auto box stay in each gear for higher revs. Fule cons. will obviously take a hit but for the best control try swapping gears manually. It is excellent and I have scared two lexii sales-guys when demo-ing the manual on a clear road. NomadFeb 10 2003, 01:12 PM I have found the ECT power button to be a real kick in the backside , as has been mentioned I imagine the fuel consumption does go up a bit SteveFeb 10 2003, 01:21 PM great when you try and floor the car and nothing happens.. hits a dead spot.. hit the ETC button and whey hey!
  23. Power shift is for higher rpm shifting as in Racing for maximum torque. Makes you faster but eats the gas mileage.
  24. drakon, There are two wires under the compressor that pick up the compressor rpm speed for comparison to engine idle. I would start there. Does your ac light blink when it quits?
  25. Sounds like your alternator died and took out the battery. Recharge the battery and see if it starts. If it does and the battery light is still on..then that would be the alternator.
