  1. I am sure that SWOE3 will get into this as he is "THE BEST" at Detailing on this forum. Seriously!!!
  2. Nothing like it!!! I hope you guys enjoy it for years to come and if we can help, we will be here for you. As always, Go Lexus, "Enjoy the Ride"
  3. Akewlguy, your okay by me.
  4. I think the flush is the problem solver since I feel the vibration at idle with brakes applied. I'll let ya'll know.
  5. Ed, I believe a total flush involves 7 quarts. Someone will chime in. Thanks for the advice SWOE3, I will check those wheel weights.
  6. Akewlguy, Don't be scared. Sometimes they don't have your address. Just check into the Gold section. As far as vibration, it's at all speeds and very subtle, nothing on the wheels or steering. just in the seat so to speak. In other words the LS is so smooth and when something is no quite right you can tune into it if you know what I mean. I had the transmission fluid changed a while ago , not a total flush, but they swore they replaced the 3 quarts with Dextron III but I am beginning to have my doubts. I guess a total flush and drain at Toyota would be my starting point since there is no local Lex dealer. ED.. SWO3 is Management.
  7. Hi Guys I am back after my "vacation" for two weeks by SWO3. To be frank, from experience, A 0% on your warning meter doesn't mean anything since I was bounced at 0%. I sent a E-mail to Admin, who never warned me, and got no response. It's like anything else in life, "Don't buck the system". Anyway, water under the bridge and my lesson learned is not to butt heads with SWO3. Take it for what it is worth. Here is my problem.. My Lexus used to run smooth as silk and now I notice a low key vibration when going down the road, subtle, but there. It seems to me that it could be a motor mount or tranny mount. Anyone experience this? 1990 with 93k miles. Good to be back to help and get help.
  8. SWO3ES, Give it up!! You go on and on in all the threads and exclusively about this one. Canada Craig, I wish you the best, because you seem like a genuine real person. SWO3ES, you have been voted down. In these times a good used is a better investment than new. No disrespect, and you can send me another "Personnal Management E-Mail" but we are honestly in love with our 400's and 430's. I am not out of line and feel this forum is for discussion, not for management opinions of a personal nature. If you want to bounce me out, then so be it!!
  9. Well, I'm not smart nor a mechanic but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. :D Sometimes, you can rock the car in first gear and get the starter off a dead spot. Also nc211 is correct. If your battery isn't up to snuff it wont crank not even with a Jump unless a high amp jump. Some tow trucks carry them.
  10. Sorry http://www.mytoolstore.com/yokogawa/yokindex.html
  11. Thttp://www.mytoolstore.com/yokogawa/yokindex.html try these guys. It looks like $117 on up.
  12. Thanks obergc, Sounds like time to call in the guy with the "impact". Sometimes you have to know your limits and I am in the middle of a complete home renovation. Love that car, or would not go on.
  13. Just ordered the parts for my A/C from Pace Tampa. I am putting in new A/C in my home and the installer has a leak detector. So we utilized it on the Lexus. We found the leak at the compressor. (Seals) Plus obvious oil on the outside, and I decided to order the parts. 98 Degrees here today. I know, I could rebuild the seals, but in my case the green light, blinking at times, was indicative of piston failure inside the compressor. So to satisfy their warranty and my peace of mind I ordered the compressor, condensor and drier. It seems all the damage ends up in the condensor and if you don't change it, in a few months you are at ground zero again. Is the condensor an easy change? The drier is behind the passenger headlight and I already queried you guys about the compressor. Thanks for your input. Just need a little advice on the condensor. Anyways, I should receive it all next week. Total cost for all was $550.00 plus shipping. Oh, and the A/C guy has a vacuum pump so we will pull a vacuum.
  14. One screw/top left and then you finese it to the right and out. It is tight but will come out.
  15. I don't think so but will look into it tomorrow and let you know.
  16. As I recall, you remove the screws attached and swing it out from the grill out like a door.
  17. I think that a new car is a "losers" choice. Off the lot 10-15k out of your pocket, can you feel the tug? Get a used, certified whatever you prefer, and save the money for your retirement, home, well deserved vacation or education for your children, if you are blessed to have any. I agree with these guys and certainly agree a used LS430 is a much better choice than a new or used 300c. anyways, I am still fighting that you find your problem on that gorgeous 93 400.
  18. Hi Craig, Looked at your cars and they are "SWEET". Timeless styling. I think you "are" getting close. Throttle Body or timing.
  19. Hi Craig, I just noticed that you said there is a vibration somewhere around 1400 to 2800 RPM when revving in neutral. Have you tried driving at those RPM's in different gears? If it vibrates at those RPM's no matter what gear or speed that would be indicative of a timing problem i.e. Timing Belt, Rotors, Caps, Plug wires or plugs. In other words the 90k service. There is some argument as to 90k service being due on mileage or is age a consideration when low mileage is recorded, as in your case with the elderly lady who let it sit for extended periods. SWO3ES may have a point about letting go and that would probably be prudent. But if you confirm a timing problem by the RPM test then you are looking at the 90k Service which may or may not be redeemable on a trade-in or outright sale. Tough decision either way. Try the test and let us know.
  20. Well Craig, If it was me I would plan a trip that would take into consideration another dealer and get a second opinion. Then I would decide. It may just be ineptitude on the part of your dealer. You seem to have the best of both world's with the NSX and Lexus and have put in so much effort that, if it was me, I would give it one last go and see what happens. Sometomes fresh, unbiased eyes are clearer. Hope this helps.
  21. I had the same problem with a corvette and it was the fuel filter. Would run for a while, start sputtering then quit. The filter should be on the undercarriage either on the drivers side rear or passenger side reae.. Trace the line from the fuel tank forward and you should find it. I remeber a post here about it so do a search.
  22. We are proud of you and here to help. Tools are omni-important and sounds like you are off to a good start, with your tools and wife. Good for you, and it does feel good to make our wives and other wife, "Miss Lexus" happy and we all keep that to ourselves don't we?. But the girl owners know that we also support them too, They just don't tell their husbands.
  23. There are some dirt bags that will "key" you for taking 2 spaces.
  24. "I also now hear a buzzing sound coming from underneath the steering wheel column when I turn the ignition, maybe near the fuse box" That would be indicative of a bad relay, it is near the fuse panel and if it is buzzing pull it and get a replacement, unless you have a digital voltmeter and have a diagram to apply 12 Volts to test it's continuity. Sounds like you have a bad bulb replacement with the kit and it fried the relay. A difficult circuit to troubleshoot, so test your bulbs after replacement of the relay before putting them in. a place like autozone should do that for you or wherever you purchase the new relay. Hope this helps.
