Yeah...bizarre. The Kia Soul??!
-
I've never driven one with the sport suspension...but I would expect it to ride harder than previous LS cars without the sport suspension. Those tires may very well have a lot to do with it though...

Sold by the dealer? Can you get your money back? Those dealer protection packages are a total ripoff...

I have Vlingo...can't make it work for crap LOL

Tire Change And Torqueing Lug Nuts Properly
SW03ES replied to PilotguyPA28's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
I've never double checked the torque of the lugs...and I've always been fine... -
I can absolutely understand your desire not to have the government involved in another aspect of your life, but you do agree that something needs to be done right? I also agree that part of the reason why we have such good Doctors here and such advancement in Medical science is because there is such money to be made, its capitalism at its best. The difficulty with managed care and insurance companies though are already making it harder for Drs to make a living and its keeping good, smart people out of the healthcare industry entirely. There was a time when I wanted to become a Psychologist and go into private practice...but thats not the living it used to be...

Yeah I hate to see that too. Lots of people would have liked to have purchased those cars. However they will be able to again...plenty of older cars still out there. For the record, they do allow extensive parting of the car. Only the engine and transmission cannot be removed.
-
There may be no way to remove it. I have a couple scuffs on my dashboard caused by people crossing their legs and bumping the dash with their shoes that are irremovable. (why do people do that, has it ever occurred to you to cross your legs in a car?) The dye is the best bet probably but you want someone who knows for sure how to do it, like cduluk said the dealer is worth asking as are local detailers. I have been meaning to do that myself and have never gotten around to it...

Uh, no. Texting while driving under *any* circumstances is a concern. IMHO anybody caught doing that should loose their driver's license. I'm as guilty as the next person...but no more. Theres no excuse for it. Talking on the phone is bad enough, I will admit you get pretty used to driving and talking on the phone...I've been doing it for so many years that, at least to me, I feel like its no different than listening to the radio or talking to other people in the car. But texting, typing anything while driving is just an inexcusable danger.

In '04 they started including a "MAINT REQUIRED" light/display message. Its purely a timer the dealer resets and it comes back on in 5k miles. My ES doesn't have one, but the '04 Prius does as does my dad's LS430. There IS some sort of weird process you can go through to reset it, but it cannot be disabled. I can tell you what it is for the Prius...don't know if it will work on the RX though... Here it is...I highly doubt this will work on the RX: On some cars its an amber light, on some its a display message like yours. All the same basic thing though.

When Does Free Maintenance End?
SW03ES replied to NicLX470's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
The 1k and 5k are free. Some dealers include more service as a perk of buying there, that may be the case. -
I wouldn't even bother trying to diagnose it yourself, take it to the dealer and let them worry about it. Only pain will be trying to get it to do that at the dealer. If it makes you feel better when mine was newer it needed several warranty items all at once. But its been no problem ever since (knock on wood).

Yep, those are the jack points on the LS400...the LS430....the ES300... A buddy of mine is in Iraq and his wife called me because his Honda Civic had a flat tire. It had been years since I had changed a tire but I went over there today and after wrestling with trying to get the lugs off (two of which I could not get off and I have the bruised hand to prove it) an struggling with the crappy OEM jack...we called AAA and within 15 minutes they were there, had the tire off...patched it on the spot and didnt even need to put the spare on. THAT my friend is how you change a tire. Comes free with your Lexus too. I wouldn't even bother trying to change one myself.

Tire Selection Needed For An '03 Ls430
SW03ES replied to PilotguyPA28's topic in 01 - 06 Lexus LS430
Thats a deal! Yeah places are just selling out their stock of Energy MXV4+, they were a high demand and high profit tire so places have a LOT of them. The Primacy is a better tire though. -
Yeah I know how you feel. Sometimes when you've been through something like that with a car you just want to be done with it... Thank God for rumble strips or you might all be dead!

I can't really add anything to what NC said, he and I see eye to eye on this. All I will say though is I know MANY people who are very sound financially who drive older cars, not because they can't afford to upgrade them, but because they don't see a benefit to replacing something that is functionally valuable that has no monetary value with something that will do what their old car does but cost them money to purchase. Cars are just utility to these people. The CARS program got MANY of these people to buy new vehicles injecting a lot of money into the economy. The statement "the majority of the people who used the program can't afford the cars they bought" just has no basis in anything but speculation. Believe me, its a lot harder for people who cannot afford things like cars and homes to get financing to make these purchases if they cannot pay cash than it used to be. And why are you paying to get someone a $4500 credit? Because you want to see our economy come out of this recession, thats why.

You poor thing! Yeah the sleepiness is tough. You were so looking forward to your trip too! I've pressed on many times myself for that last hour past when I know I should stop. It doesn't help that my wife is narcoleptic in a car too...10 minutes on the highway and she is dead asleep in the passenger seat. So usually no way to switch out drivers.

The Danger Of Pushbutton Start?
SW03ES replied to RX400h's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Yes, the Prius is the same way. And you absolutely can put the car in neutral in that situation, you can always put the vehicle in neutral. As for telling people about the power-off procedure...its in the manual. Wait until you have a car with a pushbutton start. You'll wonder how you ever survived without it. Its a great feature. -
I'm not going to bring the healthcare debate in here, although I realize you're joking. Steve, it makes sense to me. We would buy iPhones just for their convenient size, music, WiFi, Safari browser and the availablility of interfaces for our cars if we could use them without spending $30/month per person for a data plan. People who need to reach us, don't send an email or text message -- they call us. If we don't answer, they leave a message on voice mail. There are free WiFi hotspots everywhere. We don't need to spend another $30/month per phone to get all the Internet access we need. OK, if the iPhone had a decent personal organizer and could sync Microsoft Office documents like a Blackberry or Windows Mobile PDA, even I would consider wasting $30/month to get one. IMO, the best thing that could happen for cell phone users in the U.S. is to separate the purchase of handsets and service like in Europe. And CDMA, used by Verizon and the downwardly spiralling Sprint, needs to just go way like Betamax did when VHS won the videotape wars. Apple makes something just for you, the iPod Touch. Its an iPhone without the phone. It has wi-fi, the safari browser, all the iPod apps work for it. No data plan necessary. I do agree with you about handsets and service plans. That will eventually happen.

Actually I knew what you meant, that our doctors make more than in other countries. Are you saying thats a good or bad thing? I'm also not saying necessarily that insurance companies are making boatloads...the whole industry is just so completely dysfunctional it wouldn't surprise me if nobody was making any money. The reason they don't offer plans though is because it isn't profitable. Insuring people's health is not always profitable, and its the people who need the insurance usually that are not profitable, which is one of the arguments for an option that is not run for profit, but instead simply for the purpose of providing care whether there is a profit or a loss. We can spend $50 Billion on a new Submarine...to fight a war in the desert....and spend a $Billion a day in Iraq...and people don't care...yet somehow when it comes to trying to provide healthcare people all of a sudden say the government thinks its play money.

Tire Selection Needed For An '03 Ls430
SW03ES replied to PilotguyPA28's topic in 01 - 06 Lexus LS430
The Primacy is the newer replacement for the Energy, they no longer manufacture the Energy. The Primacy is smoother, quieter, better treadwear, and cheaper. -
Who decides what is an unnecessary profit? And why would you buy an iPhone without a data and texting plan? Makes no sense. I don't like typing on the iPhone either...I prefer the actual keyboard on the BlackBerry...
