  2. I have done 1 OEM (aisin) and 5 p/dinosaur, no noticable difference except in the price. all are good for 100k+ so just enjoy the savings.
  3. I HIGHLY recommend OEM on bushings, if you want to keep the Lexus ride, the polys make the ride hard and brittle. (my experience, I bought polys and in one week removed them) PS: If you are a DIY type, do you own TB/WP and replace your seals too. see : http://www.lextreme.com/timing2.html and http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/engine/timingbelt.html yours is slightly different, but the guide is the same. check these parts prices, I have done 5 of these, using these parts, with NO failure, and MUCH savings. http://www.store.partsdinosaur.com/page247.html

  6. thats what we done, with the floor jack, we had the nut on just not tightened. I had my nephew helping (doing most of it) me, they were too hard for me to get out, all that prizing and hammering.... blessings... I have an extra set also, in fact, I got them from Landar.
  7. Micah, are you going to put them on yourself or have them done? If you do it, dont tighten the front bolts with the wheels dangeling, or there wont be any spring left when you put it down, and you will probably tear the new bushing on your first "bump"....

  11. I have been a Michelin buyer for over 20 years, but when I bought the 99 for my wife, it came with new Yokohama AVID touring tires on it, and they are even quieter than my michelins....

  14. Shifts are a little hard when cold and it seems like it holds first gear awhile........ both of my 99's operate this way..... very normal
  15. I just saw this: Last year I had the pleasure (exagerrated) of replacing the starter on my 1996 LS400. It turned out that my EGR tube was damaged as well. I can tell you that I did not have to drop the tranny and/or the CAT. Obviously you will have to remove the front passenger tire. I had enough room to loosen the two bolts on the bottom of the EGR tube. I sprayed Liquid Wrench on the bolts and waited about 30 minutes before attempting it. I managed to reach the bolts by working my right hand from the front area of the EGR tube. I then used a deep well socket to loosen the bolts. Actually it was mor difficult to loosen the top bolts because the firewell is so close. I then fed the new tube from the top. You may have to wiggle it a bit but you will get it. I was amazed at how easy it was. On my first attempt, I attempted to loosen the CAT and it wasn't pretty. The bolts are not easy to break. Thank God I took a break. I could have created some unnecessary damage maybe this will help

Really their are no steps.... you know how to jack the car up and put it on proper jack stands. then you remove the right hand (passenger side) cat/converter..and you will probably twist a bolt off, then remove the two bottom bolts (easy) and then the two top bolts (very hard for me) replace and you are done.... it just takes time, you can do it.
  17. a friend has a 2003 LX470 with nav.. and said it takes forever to get it "plotted" to use... now I know less than zero about these. is there any way to speed them up or upgrade them, and what sort of $$$ would he be looking at?   18. on my old 97, I used about 2 feet of vacuum hose, put one end to my ear and the other end down by the tube.... I could hear it spewing.... it was an easy fix, remove the right cat and you are 4 bolts from home, two easy and two tough,,,, about 3 hours.
