  1. Same here, I would never put that on my car. It definitely ruins the lines of the car. The SC doesn't round in the back like the Supra does. The spoiler is round, the back is round on a Supra. An SC is flat in the back, it just isn't something I would do. To each his own.
  2. I would say that depends on the amount of work you did yourself, the deal you got on labor and parts, and how much tuning went into it. Probably a good estimation would be around $20,000 (close to cost on parts, and a lot done by yourself) to $35,000. The TT components and engine build would be among the most expensive parts as a whole, with labor and the turbo components coming in next. All in all pretty pricey, but well worth the investment in my eyes.
  3. The Auction is up to $102.50 I'll give you 200! ;) Sorry to hear about you wanting to sell, but I can completely understand. It's extremely frustrating when you can't find out what's wrong with your car, no matter what you do. I can especially understand about the Bimmers. It was between a Bimmer and my SC when I bought mine. Goodluck man!
  4. GR-2's are NOT like setting 3 or 4 on adjustable shocks. On AGX's setting 1 is far stiffer than any stock ride that I've ever felt. I would go with the KYB's too. I've ran quite a few sets of them, and they are an extremely nice ride. They extremely responsive, and give excellent feedback. We just put a set of GR-2's on a customer's Celica, and he about flipped over the difference. Most of the places are probably suggesting Tokico's over the KYB's so strongly because they have a larger profit margin over them. I know I get Tokico's cheaper than I do KYB's, so if I was out to make money, I would do the same thing. I'm not saying Tokico's aren't a good shock, or that one is better than the other. All I'm saying is I've run KYB's for years. I've riden in a couple vehicles with Tokico's in them, and I greatly prefer the KYB's if it was my car.
  5. I'd say the first problem is having 7 spark plugs in a 6 cyl motor ;) I'm assuming that's a typo and you meant 6th. If there's oil there, I'd say the most common cause is probably one of the Valve Cover Gaskets leaking. You might want to look into replacing those. I've had to do mine, it isn't that big of a deal, and is something that happens on all cars.. Be thankful you don't have a DSM (Eclipse/Talon) Those things have the worst Valve Cover Gasket design ever. Very very common problem with them.
  6. I'm not even going to say anything. It's comments like this that *BLEEP* me off, and I would just end up being a .
  7. Man, sorry to hear about your car, but I'm really glad that you got most of it taken care of. Always good to hear about things working out in the end.
  8. This is way off the subject, but Sam, that Avatar pic is hillarious!
  9. Coilovers, or Air Ride. That's about it. Also, I personally wouldn't run springs that agressive on a stock suspension, that's not good. A lot of these companies that make extremely agressive drops for a low price aren't good. We had an Integra in today, with coilover sleeves, that cost him about a hundred bucks. He's had them on for less than 6 months, and the springs are complete junk. The coils actually smack each other, and bottom out. the perches are so deformed from being hit so hard over every bump. The car feels like it has no suspension. Like it's riding on motor mounts. Be VERY careful about what you pick.
  10. I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't purchase no-name pulleys. I sell, and have seen many sets of UR pulleys go on cars. They are top-notch quality, that's definitely worth the money.
  11. In my personal opinion, it depends on the area I guess, and how available an SC300 is around there. With what needs done, and the mileage, I wouldn't pay the asking price for it. Timing Belt can be a pricey item, depending on where you have it done. Same with the Valve Cover Gasket. As for the Cluster, I really don't know exactly what is wrong with it, so I can't say how much that would cost. Although his asking price isn't too far off, I think it's a tad much. Just my .02
  12. This may be way off base, but I've always thought that 40-45% of stock HP is considered "safe" on almost every application. I figured it was just a good rule of thumb to follow. I could be very wrong on this though.. It's been known to happen.
  13. I'm with the Torque Converter suggestion. I've seen that too many times.
  14. I've seen 3" drops with 18's that don't rub. If they do rub, you can always correct that with different Tires, offset, Spacers, or Camber.
  15. Exactly, there's no need to beat a new Lexus to get a feel for the car, that's not something you 'need' to do. They had enough respect to invite you to the event, everyone should have the same to not beat the utter honda out of their cars. (No offense to Honda owners) B)
  16. I'm pretty sure the only reason it suggests that is to re-learn the fuel curves. It's going to take some time of driving before the ECU is completely back to normal, so your car may act kind of odd for a few days. Just reset the ECU, or pull the EFI fuse, then drive the car normally for a few days, or drive it how you want the car to learn.
  17. I shouldn't even post without doing some research, but if I remember correctly a Rockford Fosgate 10" fits perfectly in the stock place, or someone said. Maybe it was a 12". <shrugs> Just use the search and I know you'll find the topic. Really sorry to hear about your accident, hopefully when you get your car back it will be back to it's old (without the problems of course) self, and you can start to enjoy the car. -- Just not while driving. heh
  18. Yeah, if there is something that needs to be cleaned SeaFoam will definitely do it. That is some brutal stuff. Don't dump it into your tank though, pour it into a vaccuum line. Really works well. You have to give it constant gas while you're pouring it in, or it'll die, but it works incredible. Just pick a bigger vaccuum source.
  19. I've heard that Clay Bars work really well for removing crap like that. I've never tried, nor seen it done. Just passing on the info. If anyone can confirm or nix the comment. Go for it.
  20. In case anyone wanted the link to the Taka's here it is. They're the 5th ones down, made by Active Soarer Crystal Tails
  21. The only thing I would change (in my own opinion) would be the tires. I would also add exhaust, headers, and an ECU upgrade of sorts. The 4's sound gorgeous with exhaust.
  22. Having installed a few of these personally, and driven the cars before and after, it doesn't turn your car into a 3,000 hp alcohol drag car. Honestly, it didn't do anything for power, (that I could feel) but I'm with SK on this. The one thing that I really saw a difference was on the Turbo Timer. (Volt Meter) In an Evo VIII we put one on, his Volts would drop like a rock because of his system, now it holds steady at 14.7 and doesn't move, even with the stereo cranked. That right there makes it worth it in my mind. Are the $100 kits worth it? Yes and no, everything is pre-cut and together for you. Will a stereo shop do it for less? Yes, they will. It's all up to the consumer. Spend the time and go to the stereo shop, or place an order somewhere and get directions and a pretty box. That's all it boils down to. As for installation. If you can put a bolt through a little metal circle and turn a wrench, you can install these kits. They are the perfect DIY part. We charge $50 an hour here at the shop, and charged $20 to put it in, if that gives you a clue. It takes no time, and there are no headaches involved.
  23. Personally, I'm all for it. I think it's good to have an option like this. It seperates the Troller from the Enthusiast, or even the Die Hard. There's nothing wrong with having to pay for a membership to a club, especially something that holds a certain level of prestige as a Lexus does. Although, one thing I would like to see done with membership fees (if at all possible) would be a gathering of sorts. Something centralized for members to take some time and not only see pictures, but see in person different modifications, and vehicles. I'm sure it's just a Pipe Dream, but it's a nice thought. Sometimes there's nothing better that sitting around drinking Beer and talking cars. Anyways, just my .02 (For those of us old enough to drink Beer :D)
  24. I think I've seen the pic before. There's a yellow and a white one that look identical, and if I remember correctly, they're both Auto-Couture. As for where to find it... Um, Japan. I don't even think Taka carries Auto-Couture. I don't know off hand. ...I wonder if an Airliner company would consider a body kit, carry on luggage ;)
