  2. When i first bought my sc300 this was the first forum I saw, so I made a couple of posts here but stopped visiting here. I would just like to give you guys and update of my car since then.. it was originally green with tan interior, now its alpine silver with black interior its a 1993 5 spd. here are some pics heres how it was before---
  3. i thought id remove the gearbox before my new clutch came in to get a head start. i loosened all bolts which was the main job i just dont know where i should disconnect the gearbox from on the rear end of the car? from the driveshaft? anybody ever replace their clutch before on sc300 or rear wheel drive cars? all response and help is appreciated. thanks
  4. go for a celsior and get a wald body kit.. and your car will be insane
  5. i recently swapped my oem braking system with supra TT ones.. so if you like i still have my old oem ones for sale but i want to sell all 4 rotors. let me know if you are interested.
  6. Supra braking systems will fit the SC coupes as a direct bolt-on provided that you use 17x8-inch wheels or larger with the proper offset. These are very large brake calipers, which require specific offsets to clear. You want at least 2 mm or more clearance between the calipers and the backside of the wheel spokes. It is not recommended that you compensate by shaving the brake caliper, and definitely not the wheel spokes. Supra braking systems will not fit on the SC300 or SC400 with stock Lexus wheels mounted.
  7. Any time you purchase suspension lowering parts such as lowering springs or coilovers, you are in effect reducing the suspension travel. Eibach makes Prokit springs for the SC300 and SC400 that will drop the ride height about 1 inch all the way around. These are the only springs that function within manufacturer's alignment specifications. The 1-inch drop is, in my opinion, what the stock ride height should be. If you want a sportier, modified look, you should lower the car a bit more. However all springs that lower over 1 inch will operate slightly outside of manufacturer's camber specifications (by one degree negative camber or less), which creates a negligible inside tire wear. This gives you use of about 90 - 95% of the tire's total lifespan. Espelir makes springs that drop the ride height 1.5 inches in the front and rear. Intrax makes springs that drop the ride height 1.5 inches in the front and 1.3 inches in the rear. Tanabe makes various springs that drop the ride height about 2-2.5 inches all the way around. Eibach Prokits designed for the JZA80/MKIV Toyota Supra are also compatible with the SC300 and SC400. The Eibach Supra NA Prokits drop the ride height 1.5 inches in the front and 1-inch in the rear. The Eibach Supra TT Prokits drop the ride height 1.3 inches in the front and 1 inch in the rear. OEM Supra NA and Supra TT springs lower the SC about 0.5 inch but require Supra strut shocks. Any OEM and aftermarket suspension designed for the MKIV Toyota Supra will also work with the SC coupe. This includes all Supra coilover packages. Ony thing you must consider when shopping for Supra lowering spring packages: you must swap the entire strut-spring assembly from the Supra rear end, not just the springs. Meaning if you purchase Eibach Supra Prokits, you must also purchase Supra-compatible strut shocks, because the rear strut perch on the Supra sets lower than the rear strut perch on the SC. If you attempt a Lexus shock with a Supra spring, you will actually lift the rear end of the car higher than stock. The front struts are the same on both cars however. You have the option of buying the OEM Supra shocks (cheapest), or aftermarket Tokico, KYB, etc shocks. It is recommended that you replace all four shocks together for uniformity, instead of just the rears if you go this route. Supra NA and TT shocks will fit the SC300 and SC400 fine. You do not have to worry about these compatibility issues when you buy Supra coilovers. -rich
  8. Can you please send the PDF file to sneakerwhizz@aol.com Thanks a million soarer TT.
  9. thanks, i'm going to buy a new clutch today. probably one from ACT as I heard these work well in general and especially with the sc300/mkiv. thanks
  10. hey.. i'm having a problem guys please help. there has been this smell coming from my car and its terrible. i don't mind the smell but its getting me real paranoid and I just don't like it. it smells a little like burnt rubber.. but not exactly. I asked another guy and he said it might be burnt clutch?? is that true? can it be my clutch burning? i doubt it but it is a possibility. here are my observations, perhaps they may help us solve the problem: -i only really start to smell this when i rev to 5000 rpm or 6000 rpm.. -i smell it a lot when i turn my car off, or when i am standing idle at a red light -when i switch gears, and press on the gas, it revs high but speed slowly increases... unlike it was previously (clutch worn out? is it slipping?) all replies are welcome and I appreciate and help. thanks!
  11. i am selling my 93 5 spd sc300, its dark green and had just below 145k on it. asking price: $8700. 917-560-3942 if interested.
  12. hi, its me again. i removed all door panels, headliner, etc.. from my car. the interior is currently naked except for seats. i used to have the "nasty" tan interior. i just installed black seats but i still have the tan door panels and headliner sitting in my kitchen floor. i am curious to know what type of leather dye i should use for best results? is the sc leather on door panels synthetic or is it real? any ideas? anyone ever do this before on their sc? i know a lot of people who have done it to their GTI's and Supras. all suggestions and opinions are welcome.
  13. i am trying to buy some springs that will lower my sc300 substantially. i have after market wheels but the gap between the wheels and my car is horrible. i need lowering springs and quick. i bought eibach springs to lower 1" but they didnt do much for me. i need something that will lower 2" at least, perhaps 3". does anybody know if springs from a set of coilovers would work on stock suspension? the springs only? if not, please someone guide me and how to lower my car more than 1" without buying coilovers or without air suspension. thanks.
  14. I just bought a set of espelir springs drop 2". I have aftermarket wheels bbl lm's that are 18x9.5 in rear and 18x8.5 in front. I wonder if these will rub if I throw the springs on. I know a 2" drop is kind of low but let me know what you know. Thanks I appreciate it. Take care!
  15. thanks for all your help guys, i've decided not to take my chances with the original wheels i wanted to get and I found something more suitable for them. i ended up getting these thanks for all your help
