  1. Do a search through this forum and youll find everything you need
  2. If you install larger rims, it wont affect your ABS. At least it shouldnt. Camber shouldnt be affected also as it would be corrected through an alignment. As far as the speedometer, you just have to get a tire/rim combination thats close to the original size. I.E. -stock 15s with monster tires = 18s and low profile. Not exact, but you get the idea. If you go to any tire store theyll be able to tell you the exact size you can go up to. Even being a little over or under doesnt hurt much. The speedo may be off by two or three mph. Your tread quality totally depends on the tires you get and how you drive your car. More expensive does not mean better tread wear either.
  3. If you go to www.tirerack.com they have a wide selection and most importantly a buyer review of the tires. Theres usually alot of reviews for every tire and you can search by cost
  4. 18s to be safe. The rotor/calipers are a 16in package if i remember correctly
  5. SC300 and SC400 is a term only applied to Lexus. Toyota only came out with the Soarer which covers all of the chassis. They did Soarer GT, GT-L, etc.... Every Toyota Soarer came with the Flying Lion and the SC430s come with a huge Lion
  6. They're right about the front cut. With just the engine youre not going to get alot of the accessories that you would normally need on a daily driver such as EGR, ignitor, or basically anything that isnt attached to the engine itself. Having an uncut harness only saves you money in the end since its less work for them to do. The front piping may be the intercooler piping which youll never get with just an engine, but it may be worth the extra few hundred to get a front-mount intercooler kit that comes with all new piping.
  7. You really shouldnt have to worry about heat resistance so much as sealing it off from the engine bay. Theres a few australian places that make the whatever-you-want-to-call-it and most of the time its aluminum. Plastic would do fine since the air wont be in the chamber long enough for it to be effected by the heated plastic, but if you really want to, then aluminum should be fine. Ghetto style it and put some aluminum foil over cardboard. It will at least work for getting the size down if you make it yourself.
  8. You can throw any amount of money at any engine and bring it up to 1000 horsepower, but doing it on a rotary is...very troublesome. Can you say Apex seal replacement?
  9. Its 13,000 Yen and solid. Thats about all i care about. Its probably a knock-off, but hopefully itll stiffen up the mid-section a bit. Best thing is the removable cross bar and with it out its not too easy to see through my tint.
  10. Any good custom shop can do it. Just be sure to bring a few thousand with you
  11. Zero need? Havent you ever played video games? A roll cage will at least get you style points
  12. I checked out the registry on mkiv.com and there is actually a few people that post 10s on stock twins. I didnt even think about the TTC setup on CT12s
  13. Based on simple math calculations(which i have neither patience to provide nor calculate and i just woke up) you can see the horsepower limitations of the stock turbos and fuel system. What if you did have a fuel system that could support a t04r but youre on the stock twins? Well, look at the compressor maps for the stock twin turbo. Actually, let me stop saying twin turbo since the 1JZ is the only engine with true twin turbo. The 2JZ is sequential and not really suited for drag. Anyways...the CT12? Yeah, im not even going to go there. Sure the CT12B has a steel wheel, but you cant boost it up that far. I could see 13s on relatively stock and 12s with cams, full exhaust, fuel upgrade and a nice tune. The only way i could see 10s with stock turbos are if they are in the back seat distributing out some weight. It might be possible for someone to do it, but i have no idea how they would.
  14. Need a roll cage? Im picking up a 4 pointer for mine
  15. This is why Toyota will be the next president of the US. I believe they have at least two drivers in the top ten at this point in the series
  16. I played with CF before and it is incredibly hard to get the weave looking completely right. I imagine with practice i could do it, but i dont know how they can get the weave looking as good as they do. Its not that hard to do, but practice on small stuff first and -mix properly -be patient
  17. Or you get a 1jz and R154, save at least 10k. Youre going to pay alot more for the .5L of displacement and a poor flowing head(in comparison to the Yamaha). The engines hold the same power, but the 1jz has a better flowing head. Same bore, just different stroke. The GETRAG is strong, but dont count out the R154. As long as you get a good one to start with, itll hold alot.
  18. I HIGHLY suggest going to Fiberglast.com or www.selectproducts.com and getting the videos or studying up on it before you start. Dont start on carbon fiber either. go to WalMart and get the $10 fiber weave and practice, practice, practice. The only reason it looks so easy is because its usually professionals doing it. Dont get me wrong, its not impossible, but it takes alot longer to get the hang of it than people think.
  19. www.fiberglast.com Pretty good prices for retail, fast shipping and they have everything you need
  20. just race with four people in each car and you might beat him then
  21. It works, but dont keep using it. Once a month is pushing it from what i understand. The chemicals contained with the cleaner arent exactly friendly to an engine for long-term use. Once in a while is fine, but when that stuff starts to sit in the car for a long period of time its not good
  22. Me? No, but i know where i can get some parts. TT Soarers are dime a dozen lately. You can get a loaded TT for around 5k and a basic one like mine for less than 2
  23. I can get you a spoiler if you really want it. They usually go for around $80 and then figure in at least $40 for shipping to you. Carbon Fiber hoods are around $800 also.
  24. I have 18 as well and the high speed balance is very necessary. My wheels were perfect until i installed a new tire and my guess is they messed up the balance or didnt rebalance it afterwards
