  1. I'm sure he is talking about the HUD or the digital cluster, and I've never seen either on a Lexus.
  2. There's a Seinfeld episode for almost any situation you find yourself in! LOL They must say "not that their's anything wrong with that" at least 10x in The Outing episode. As for me, barbers are vastly superior to salons! My barber still has the hot shaving creme machine....so good!
  3. I switched my high mile (230k at the time), dinsoaur running '95 over to M1 SuperSyn (their regular blend of 10w 30, no high mile addatives for me.) over two years ago without a single problem. We're now at 277k with nothing but great things to say about Mobile 1 synthetics! :D
  4. There are a few grey seats at car-part.com. I ran a search (there were a few in different price ranges), but it wouldn't let me link the results. I found my driver's seat on that website. The seats are heavy, so I had to have my seat shipped on a pallet to some bloke out on Airline who had a "commercial address." I wouldn't get an aftermarket seat for a LS. B)
  5. Maj and I are on the same page. The question about the shocks is whether or not you have to unbolt the shock and its bracket to get at the two nuts that connect the strutrod to the lca. I just snapped a few pictures with my car on ramps, and it does look like you need to take that strut bracket off. Maybe there is a trick, but I'm not seeing it! LOL ....
  6. Nope, you don't have to worry about the shock flying out of there--it'll stay in one piece! I just looked at mine, and it does look like that shock bracket has to come out. I recall only paying about 2 hours worth of labor when I had mine changed....
  7. Shocks are real easy. I just did mine a few weeks ago, and it wasn't bad at all. I hope you have an air ratchet to compress your springs!!! :D I don't remember needing to disconnect the shock to get the strut rod out, it's been a while though. Even if you do need to disconnect it, it doesn't take much time to do so.
  8. You probably just need to replace some of the capacitors in the instrument cluster circuit board. Search for a tutorial in a thread started by wandawoods. ;)
  9. It should take a mechanic about two hours or so (+/- depending on if he's ever done this before.). And tell him to mark the strut rods so that you don't lose your alignment. ;)
  10. Try this.... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...wtopic=4237&hl=
  11. I know I should, huh?!?! :) The few times I've checked it, the oil level was just were it was when I refilled it (or so close that I can't tell the difference.) after the oil change. The transmission/engine have no leaks (fixed all of them.), and I've never had to add any fluids in the past, so I guess that's why I'm not too concerned about checking it on a regular basis.
  12. I'm not seeing anything wrong with those pictures either. Unless we see it in person, we'll never know what is a shadow or a defect.
  13. You might want to rethink those Falkens. There are a few not so stellar reviews of them from Lexus owners in this forum. They are cheap for a reason. :whistles:
  14. The ES300 only had a manual option in 92-93. ;)
  15. You probably just need a mast: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ighlite=antenna http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html
  16. Josh, best of luck and stay safe! You will be in all of our thoughts and prayers. ;) I want to take a second to congratulate the Club Lexus members becacuse they managed to keep this same thread going for 35+ posts without a single political remark. Good for you CL!
  17. If you think it smells like burnt oil, then take a look at your valve covers to see if they are leaking.
  18. Truer words were never spoken! I've listened to the same station on a 5 hour car ride before, and I never got bored. I have to consciously make myself channel surf since you really can listen to the same channel for hours and hours.Everytime I get out of the car after driving either 350 miles or 3 miles, and I ask myself if I'd subscribe to XM again, and the answer is always yes. Besides, it's only like $10/month, and it makes the car ride a hell of a lot more enjoyable! B)
  19. I'm really bad about checking the tires and fluids in my car. I get my tires rotated and balanced regularly, and they check the tire pressure, so I guess I'm ok in the end on that one! I might check the fluids once or twice a year, but I suppose that if I saw an oil slick or puddles of tranny fluid on the ground, I'd investigate it further! LOL
  20. XM and Sirius are the exact same price; they even have the same discounts if you subscribe in advance. http://www.xmradio.com/service_subscriptio...sp?refsrc=hp_gs http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServe...d=1065475754240 Steve, anything in particular about Sirius that has made you such a loyal customer?
  21. Lookin real good! B) This should make it a little easier to view:
  22. For what you'd have to pay an upholstery shop to recover both front seats, you could probably order the front and rear covers online for about the same price. I had some leather work (replaced bottom cushion on driver's seat, plus 2 panels on the pass seat for + he redyed both seats to match for I think about $500, it was a while ago so I'm not 100%.) done on my previous car, and it wasn't cheap.
  23. I agree. I tried to activate the Lexus phone in my ES300, and every cell carrier I went to looked at me like I was crazy for not only wanting to activate that fossil of a cell phone but also for thinking that they still have single band analog service (analog by itself, instead of the tri and quad band phones that we have today.). LOL Point well taken, so I moved on to an aftermarket solution, and I'm very pleased. I believe so too.
  24. That should do it. You can find those cords at Wal Mart for like $5. Congrats on that beautiful truck! I've ridden in my neighbors 4Runner (LTD with V8....vroom, vroom!!) a few times, so I know how nice they are! B)
  25. Yep, attachments are still disabled. ;) Did you try the gallery?
