  1. Looks great Bill!!! You are really going to love it! It sure looks like it is in the pictures! I bet this is why he had some issues when he was probing the phone wiring harness, and we didn't. Finding the mute pin with my ghetto test light was the easiest part of the install! LOL
  2. Welcome, we're glad to have you! Lextreme.com has a lot of great info on Lexus performance. ;)
  3. Sure, it has happened to all of us, but when it happens to me, I'm dealing with something slightly more complicated than unchecking a box on a computer screen, especially when step by step instructions are provided! A couple of us are thinking about something bigger and better than just deleting this post! LOL :whistles:
  4. It's probably time for a rebuild. I used to be able to get my changer to work for a few hours by unplugging it for a while and then replugging it back (that doesn't work any more--I just get error codes.). If you're bored one day, it might be worth a try. Between satelite radio and my ipod, I don't miss my changer much! :D
  5. Lexus, you might want to consider a wired fm modulator. I have one in my LS, and I couldn't be more pleased with the sound quality considering that their are no direct connect options for my car. I think it sounds better than a tape adaptor since I tried that too. Plus, the wired modulator connects to the satelite antenna port on your tuner, so you would have one less wire than with your tape adaptor. ;) I have my antenna on my trunk lid, and I'm glad it's there. I had the antenna inside the car before I got around to running the wire to the trunk lid, and my satelite signal is way better than it was when the antenna was inside the car.
  6. I've had this happen (maybe two or three times over the course of a year.) in my '95 LS with a Nokia carphone. It was like the auto-mute got stuck, and shutting the car off and then turning it back on cured it. It's weird, but you're not alone! ;)
  7. Welcome Matt! Some more possible issues: ECU, a cracked egr pipe, oil leaks at the cams/crank/valve covers/rear main, broken antenna mast, stereo lcd readout with missing lcd segments, some cd chagner failures, check the steering rack solenoid for debris that will cause/aid leaks, their are probably some more that I can't think of right now!Take care of the old car, and she'll last a lifetime. Mine has over 277k miles, and it still runs great!
  8. We all heard you the other times you posted this: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=30593 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=30489 If your subscription settings truly are in order, then, create an email account at yahoo or hotmail and have your LOC messages routed there. Or, contact "Steve" the LOC Admin, I'm sure he'd be glad to help you.
  9. All of your detailing threads were moved to the Show and Shine forum since they fall under this category: "Show and Shine Just detailed your car? Post your pictures here, brag about it, fish for compliments, and generally show it off to all the other Lexus owners" ;)
  10. LMAO It's a shame I was still down here because I could have shown you all 5 of our stop lights and where we go cow tipping! LOL I'm guessing you mean the new Shell station on farmerville and 20? With the Quiznos in it?
  11. Ahhh, ok, makes sense now! ;) We should recruit some LOC members to really make a showing at Lexfest this year.... :whistles:
  12. That's great news!! :D Yall have a safe trip back up north? You wave when you passed through Ruston? LOL Body shops aren't cheap. This glorified door ding in my LS costed over $1,800 to repair: What a rip off! It's a good thing the responsible party was insured!
  13. I agree! I like his ideas (his car is too low though); his execution of those ideas on the other hand needs some work! He should have just waited until he had the money to do it right because it would have been a very nice looking car--kinda like an unmarked FBI car or something. hahaSK, great write-up! Your car is looking great too! I'm not sure that I agree that any one year LS400 is better than the other as far as reliability is concerned. After they hit that 9 or 10 year mark, they all seem to have the same issues with bushings, oil leaks, starters, a/c, power steering system, lcds, etc. It will be interesting to see how the 2.5s age! Wow, that's going to be a nice little drive for you to come down to Atlanta for Lexfest!!! :o :D
  14. This should have been asked at the very begining because your career choice is super, super important in this matter. Are you looking to get on the team that is going to cure a form of cancer or do you want to work with computers? Each of those jobs are important, but I'll stick my neck out and say that the doctors are going to benefit more from having AP classes since med schools probably require them in not so many words....errr, maybe not require them, but it'll be a fun question to try and dodge during your interview! LOL My $.02? It's what Toys and Steve said. ;) Bill Gates didn't finish college, so find something you love and go after it because education isn't everything (it's extremely important, but it's not everything.)!
  15. Oh yeah, no argument on that one, but I'm not reading/watching their articles/shows either. Their is no doubt that he's looking for publicity, but I'm going to see him one better and never watch his show and tell everyone I know about what this chump does. Will it make a difference in the life of Jeremy Clarkson? I really doubt it, but at least, I'll be practicing what I preach! LOL I used to love listening to Green Day until they started sharing their policitical beliefs with us via their lyrics. Good-bye Green Day.
  16. I'm not talking about what he says on the show (I think I have seen an episode or two (this one was pretty boring because he obviously doesn't know how to drive in mud since his segment on the LR3 was not so much about the car as it was him waiting to get pulled out of the mud.) before he opened his big mouth too much.). He is a columnist too, and I am not going to support someone's show/column/etc. if they are going to write uncalled for trash like this (mind you this is only one quote from this article, there is plenty more idiotic stuff written.): "America may have given the world the space shuttle and, er, condensed milk, but behind the veneer of civilization most Americans barely have the brains to walk on their back legs." I hate public figures who use their status to move their agendas or share their opinions on things they don't have any authority to do so (Hey Leo, and how long did you go to school to become an expert on global warming?). He's got every right to say what he wants, and I have every right to not tune in to his show or read his columns. It's an easy problem to get past.
  17. There's not a chance I'd watch that show because I hate Jeremy Clarkson. He's got the right to say what he wants, but I'll be damned if I'm going to listen to him talk trash about America, and then watch his TV show. No way.
  18. This has been covered um-teen times, so please search this forum as well as the tire forum--there is so much info. In short, Michelin MXV4+, Bridgestone Tauranza LSV, and Dunlop Sport SP 5000/6000 are three winners and are the most popular amongst LS owners.
  19. They can say that because comfort is subjective. What's his definition of "long limbed?" Maybe he is 5'7, so long limbed to him is 6'0? I'm ~6'4, and I have not been impressed in the least with the legroom in any Lexus model that I've looked at/driven/owned. The most important thing is to just go sit in the car and try to get comfortable.
  20. Welcome Omar! Sounds like you got a pretty good deal on your LS! Familiarize yourself with lexls.com; there is so much great info on his site. ;) Thankya Steve! ;) I'm up to 278k, and still running pretty well.
  21. It wouldn't do much. Granted, if you were doing 60 that would be one thing, but the mileage between 70-90 is going to be about the same. Using the cruise control or keeping a steady speed (since some people don't like cruise) is the key to good fuel econ on the interstate--provided that you car and tires are in good repair. I've checked my mileage on the same 340 mile route going 70, 75, 80, and 84mph a number of times (my a/c runs almost 365 days a year). Each run gave me the same mileage 26mpg +/- .5. My fluctuation is derived from how many inconsiderate, mindless twits I have to slow down for as I wait for them to move their slow !Removed! from the fast lane.
  22. The closest thing to a HUD (well, a traditional one like in your pictures.) in a Lexus was the night vision that they offered in the LX470.
  23. I'd probably go with the GS mainly because the style of the car is much more appealing to my eye. AWD has to be nice in snowy areas too. As for the power, yes the 3.5 makes more power than the I6, but the 0-60 times are the same for the ES and GS RWD and 1/10 slower for the AWD model, and the GS even weighs more than the ES. GSs are fun to drive, and they manage to retain the smooth ride. Comfortwise, if your friend is taller than 6' or maybe 6'1, he's barking up the wrong tree completely by shopping for a Lexus.
  24. It's definantly fake. You didn't see him put his elbow up before he hit the sign? ;)
