  1. Hello to all - It's been awhile since I have posted. My 1993 LS 400 has been running great! The reason I am writing is that just last week my "brake pad change" light came on. When I called the dealership they told me it would be $330 to replace 2 brake pads, and that's if they haven't damaged the rotors. $330? Are you serious? My first question is: Is it really necessary for me to have these changed at a dealership? I didn't even know the car had sensors to detect when the brake pads need changing. Can any mechanic handle this? Secondly, how long do I have to get the pads changed from when the indicator light comes on? Lastly, How do I know whether just two pads or all four need changing? Thanks in advance for your help and advice, as my car knowledge isn't the greatest! Alan C.
  2. Thanks so much! You guys are great. I love this Club! Alan C.
  3. Yesterday, as I was washing and waxing my 93 LS, I noticed that my left front corner light (not the side marker) not only had some condensation in it, but also had about an inch and half of standing water inside. My first question is: Can someone tell me how to remove this corner light fixture? The second question: Once the piece is off, should I just get a whole new fixture or try repairing the original leaky one? Thanks in advance for you input! Alan C. Lovin' my LS!
  4. Hey guys - Thank you ahead of time your help and information. I have 93 LS400, and I keep having to replace my lower left brake light. I have had to change the bulb 2 different times within the last month. I bought Sylvania LL bulbs, yet they continue to burn out. Do you think I got some "bad bulbs" or is it maybe an electrical problem? I would just let it go, but the Maryland State Troopers get really bored sometimes and like to pull me over; and, on top of that, that orange light on the instrument panel gets really annoying! If you have any insight, or suggestions it would be much appreciated! Thank you! Alan C Lovin' my LS!
  5. Your help is much appreciated, Blake! Thanks so much! Alan C
  6. Something else I wanted to ask everyone...when I turn the radio on in my 93 LS, I can hear the antenna motor running, but my antenna doesn't go up or down. Do you think I need a whole new antenna motor/kit or is their maybe something that I can try on my own? Thanks a bunch! ALAN C Lovin' my LS!
  7. Yeah, a wild goose chase under the hood of a car could be fatal for me! I know "squat" about cars! (After all, thats' why I'm here!) Thank you all for your input. You guys are really great! I ended up calling the Lexus dealership yesterday and told them the problem, and they told me to come in immediately. I didn't because I wanted to do some more research on my own. They just called my cell phone AGAIN 10 minutes ago asking me to set up an appointment. From what I've read on here, I think I'll stay away from the "stealership". So today I went to see a friend of mine who is a technician at an independant shop and he said that the smell was that of burnt coolant. He said that it is a very minor leak, and if it were him, he wouldn't worry about it. He said that I should keep an eye on the coolant level and also on the heat condenser/regulator ? (it's right up by the windshield), something that regulates the heat and A/C. He noticed some signs of leakage around that area. Any thoughts? Thanks again! Alan C.
  8. I assume your're meaning the Power Steering pump?
  9. I a new to this list and wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this problem. My 93 LS 400 has an unusual burning smell from the engine. I especially notice it when I first open my door to get out of the car. At first I thought it was maybe a little oil that dripped onto the manifold after I got the oil changed, but the smell has persisted. Any ideas of what it could be? Anyone had any similar issues? Thank you for your time! Alan C Lovin' my LS!
