Radar Detector

I HAVE THE K40 SYSTEM 2000 ON MY SC. EVERYONE HERE KNOWS HOW EASY IT IS TO FIND YOURSELF GOING 85 IN A 55. THIS SYSTEM WORKS BETTER THAN ANY SYSTEM I'VE EVER OWNED OR TESTED. IT OFFERS FRONT AND REAR PROTECTION AND HAS FRONT AND REAR LASER DIFFUSER AS OPTIONS. THE BEST PART IS THE CUSTOM INSTALLATION. ALL OF THE LEDS GET MOUNTED INSIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SO THE CAR LOOKS TOTALLY STOCK. I'VE HAD IT FOR A FEW YEARS AND HAVEN'T RECEIVED A SPEEDING TICKET YET. ALTHOUGH, IT DIDN'T HELP ME FROM RECEIVING A RECKLESS DRIVING TICKET YESTERDAY FOR DOING A NASTY BURNOUT AT AN INTERSECTION NOT REALIZING THAT CAR APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION WAS A UNMARKED COP CAR. OH WELL, THAT'S WHAT LAWYERS ARE FOR! :D

a normal rule of internet forums is to not type in capitals unless you are trying to convey your annoyance and are yelling your post.

just a thought,i doubt that is what you are trying to do

never heard of a k40 but the valentine 1 seems to be the most superior radar detector ever hands down .

No one has ever made another that i have seen from a reputable company showing more acurate test results of vg2 (actually working)

and actually picking up real dangers as well as few falses from other crappy detectors

car and driver motor trend sprot compact car

gumball 3000 and the list goes on ,real speeders won;t leave the garage without it as it IS the best

I INSTALL THE K40 SYSTEM ON MANY HIGH END VEHICLES AT MY SHOP IN RICHMOND, VA INCLUDING MANY PLAYERS FOR THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS AND BALTIMORE RAVENS. I'VE DONE WORK FOR MICHAEL VICK ON SOME OF HIS VEHICLES AS WELL AND FROM MY REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE WITH THE CONSUMERS DIRECTLY, I'VE FOUND THE K40 TO BE THE MOST RELIABLE. I'VE OWNED AND TESTED EVERY TOP BRAND PERSONALLY.

that places you in a very small group of people that don't think that the Valentine 1 is the best. I drive about a thousand miles a week in my car, most of which is at 90-100 and I've never even been looked at weird as long as I pay attention to the LED's on the V1

I bought a 2001 LS430 6 months ago with the K40 installed front and back. I then tested it out with my Valentine1 that I brought over from my 1995 SC400. The V1 trumped the K40 every time. I'm now looking to do a clean install of the V1 and leave the K40 for Virginia driving only.

someone brought up driving in VA with a detector...I've always wondered: can the cops actually DETECT that you are using one..like a "radar detector detector"?? or is it simply that if they visually SEE a detector in your windshield you will get a ticket? and will you only get a summons, or will they confiscate your detector?

anyone know.........

I don't know about VA cops being able to detect radar detectors but I know they give a lot of tickets to people having K40 installed since cars like BMWs have it as a factory/dealer option. Just incase I keep an old Cobra detector under the seat. If I get stopped I'll just make the cheapo radar as a donation to the VA patrol.

On another note before I knew that radar detectors were illegal in VA I would drive around with one mounted on my windshield. After working in VA for 18 months I was never pulled over...maybe it was the MD tags on the car...who knows?

I don't see how the cops could give you a ticket for the K40 if it's a factory option. Even if it is illegal in that state. It's like Window Tint. It's an equipment violation, if it's installed in the vehicle. Some vehicles come with tint that would be considered illegal in many states, yet they can't do anything because it's factory. I've seen this many many times here in Wi.

a radar detector will always be a dealer installed option never a factory one.

It is also not installed by the dealer but a 3rd party who comes to the dealer to do the work along with other aduio upgrades.

VG-2 stealth technology is what you are referring to which is to cloak the radar detector from being detected by a radar gun.

some work ,other say it on the box but that is where it ends in detection.

I like jammers with a detector also so it throws a bad code to the gun ,gives you a few second to slow down as the jammer shuts off from overheating and you get clocked at legal speeds or atleast cheaper ones.

ld5000 jams laser - I heard it go off once in 3 years. In florida on I75. UN3000 claims to jam - but main purpose is early warning. I don't see how a cop could tell there is a k40 system if it's powered off. They feature vg2 and beyond. It has saved my !Removed! - I only have the rear sensor hooked up. It has shown signals ahead of me. I need to get a new front sensor if anyone has a hook up.

What's wrong with going just a smidge over the limit (slow enough that you it's not worth the police officers effort to pull you over) & save the money on a radar detector :rolleyes: With the money saved, you can enter competitions at the track if you want to see what your ride can do in a safe & controlled surounding :D :whistles: ;) We all speed at on time or another.......but if your obeying the traffic laws for the most part anyways.......dosen't that make the need for a radar detector redundant?

First, Sam shut off the caps man. I live in Virginia and use on all the time. I have an Escort 8400 or something. I also have an older Escort 3200. I started with a Fuzzbuster and have progressed through several. When I buy a new one it will be a Valentine 1. There is no other radar detector to buy.

Speeding is not something to be taken lightly. A radar/lidar detector decreases your chances but never think that it will protect you. VASCAR and KA/Instant on will still easily nail you if you are dumb enough to run alone in the left lane. I use a CB as well and rarely run in excess of 19 over due to the repressive RD laws, so I guess laws work.

Doing the speed limit (or as I mentioned slightly over) pretty much guarantees you never have to worry about a speeding ticket....therefore makes the radar detector redundant.......in Ontario, the max speed limit is 100 Km/h....slightly under 60 MPH....which I personally think is way too slow.....so I do 119 max (it's not worth the cops while to pull one over going under 120 km/h - 75 mph here). If one is in hurry, leave a few minutes earlier. ;) Many folks that do have these devices seem to still get pulled over for speeding anyways (not all, but some)...I bet it really peeves these people off 10 fold when they already had this device. :whistles:

The law enforcement industry are almost always 2 steps ahead of the companies that make these things & they counter with their 'high tech' devices in return. It would be intresting to know.........to ask say the best 'speed trap' officers what the best product is that is 'fool proof'......I bet he / she will just smile & wink.
