  1. Here's what I did to resolve this issue. Took out the DVD, cleaned it with a good cloth. took the system out and retightened everything. Only happened two times since then. Appears to be a dvd issue, possible dust is getting in there somehow and causing it not to spool properly at start-up
  2. I have the exact same issue, same 01 LS430 with a 05 DVD with no mods. This weekend I'll be taking the unit out and cleaning the DVD to see if it helps. I'll also make sure it has a good mount and connections. I'll let you know how it goes.
  3. you can get the chip sent out and modified to correct value for about $400
  4. Falken D512s. Great tire for the price. rated #1 @ Consumer Reports
  5. I had some grease monkeys put the power steering fluid instead of ATF and it started to leak because of the viscosity different, they're close but not the same. I had to drain the power steering pump myself but I got it done. This was on my SC400 and almost destroyed the alternator.
  6. I replaced mine with Michelin Pilots. The funny part was that NTB had them cheaper than Tirerack. The car rides so much smoother now. Just get AAA just in case you get a flat..you figure the run flats get you 15k miles max while these should get about double at more than half the price. My $.02
  7. the runflats on the SC430 only last 12k-15k miles, this is normal. When I went to the dealership they recommended non run flat Michelin Pilot AS tires. I've already put a set on a SC430 and it has made a world of difference. Better ride and last 3 times longer. ← BETTER NOT GET A FLAT WHILE OUT OF CELL PHONE COVERAGE! ← AAA cost $50 a year..at that rate you would save 4 runflats = $1500 * 3 (since the Michelins will get about 3 times the wear) = $4500 - $1000 (for the Michellin Pilots) = $3500. Considering I drive about 30K a year that's $17500 over 5 years. For that you can get a spare kit, AAA, a Ducati 996 and still have money to go on vacation.
  8. I picked the correct DVD @ Bobby Rayhal Lexus in PA for $250.00. Best price I've seen..and it's a legit Lexus dealership. The funny part is that a '03 DVD went for $225 on Ebay and this was the latest greatest.

  10. I have a Valentine One and a K40 in my LS430. I've ran them side by side and the Valentine is the better of the two and a fraction of the price. The V1 is good on KA and Laser and will tell you where the signal is coming from with how many bogeys (signals). I haven't had a speeding ticket for about 4 years with this one and I do about 50k miles per year on major highways.
  11. The ones on Ebay are for Gen IV systems and their blems that Lexus stopped selling. For Gen III systems they go over $200 and that's for 2003 DVDs.
  12. $345 is way too high. Found a dealer in PA that sells it for $250 in Carlisle, PA. Their prices for everything else is also a lot cheaper than any dealer I've been to in PA, MD, or NY
  13. Well, i can tell you what the insurance paid for mine when it was totaled about a month ago. 95 SC400, white, with 240k miles on it. The other guys insurance paid me $12,000 for it. This should be a good estimate for 'wholesale value'
  14. There's one in Reisterstown on Main Street, accross from Friendly's...the name escapes me. The guy that owns it worked for Lent Stoller Lexus before he opened it up. It's the cheapest place in town but at least they know the product and don't charge dealer rates.
  15. This is for a Gen IV system, it will not work. Hi, I also have a 2001 LS430 with navigation. I just bought an updated DVD disk version 3.2 but I am having problems updating. When I put in this new disk, a message comes up on the navigation display saying" Read disk error. Check your disk". I made sure the new disk (v3.2) was clean but got this error message in all 3 tries. When I put in the old disk (v2000.1); everything worked fine just like before. digital_b, could you please give me more information about what you said about required programming by the dealer? Did you have this done? How much did it cost you? Any help/pointer from any forum user is greatly appreciated. ←
