  1. We've replaced and upgraded many SC430 stereo systems over the years. The best solution on the market currently is the Alpine INA-W900. The headunit is packed with all the features you need to make your SC sound great. Your main decision will be how extensive of an upgrade you are looking for. Some of our clients just opt to replace the blown speakers (if there are any) and just integrate the new DVD headunit into the factory system. Headunit installation should be handled by an experienced audio shop as a decent level of customization will be required. When we perform a headunit installation on the SC430 we make a custom kit/bezel for the new Alpine headunit to fit in the stock location. We maintain full operation of the motorized door during this process. Most importantly though is that the circuit board from the factory headunit is removed and maintained. If not, some vehicles lose total function of the navigation and climate control functions. An experienced shop should be able to install a new headunit for you and maintain operation of all interior electronics including the factory subwoofer. If you are looking for a total system upgrade then I suggest replacing all the speakers and factory amplifier with high quality components. Hope this helps a little.
  2. TO SAVE ALL THE HASSLE AND HEADACHE I WOULD JUST CLAIM IT ON YOUR INSURANCE. YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO LET HIM FIX YOUR VEHICLE. YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY WILL FIX YOUR VEHICLE PROPERLY AND THEY WILL SUE HIM OR HIS INSURANCE POLICY DIRECTLY. THE GUY IS ALREADY TRYING TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS BY FIXING IT HIMSELF. IF YOU'RE NOT CONFIDENT IN HIS ABILITIES I'D JUST FIND THE BEST BODY SHOP POSSIBLE AND TAKE IT FROM THERE. I WOULD ACT QUICKLY AS THE MORE TIME THAT PASSES THE MORE COMPLICATED THE SITUATION BECOMES AND PEOPLE MYSTERIOUSLY CATCH AMNESIA.
  3. LET ME EXPLAIN SOMETHING TO YOU SIR. I'M A GROAN MAN AND CAN TYPE IN ANY WAY I SO PLEASE. THE PEOPLE HERE IN THIS FORUM ARE ADULTS LOOKING FOR AND SHARING INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR VEHICLES. I THINK THE LEAST OF IMPORTANCE IS HOW SOMEONE CHOOSES TO TYPE. I UNDERSTAND THAT CHAT AND FORUM "ETIQUETTE" SAYS THAT ALL CAPS IS YELLING. GIVE IT A BREAK. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE WHAT SOMEONE TYPES THEN MOVE ON. THEIR ARE SO MANY MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT SIR.
  4. SOUNDS LIKE A SPEED SENSOR PROBLEM. I HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH AN ACURA LEGEND MANY YEARS AGO. THE SPEED SENSOR SENDS INFORMATION TO THE COMPUTER AND THE CRUISE CONTROL MODULE GATHERS SPEED SENSOR INFORMATION ALSO. I WOULD START THERE.
  5. BANK TWO REFERENCES THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE MOTOR. SENSOR ONE REFERENCES THE O2 SENSOR CLOSEST TO THE ENGINE. THIS IS NOT A VERY DIFFICULT PROCEDURE BUT WILL CERTAINLY REQUIRE THE VEHICLE TO BE LIFTED UP TO GAIN ACCESS. YOU WILL NEED A BASIC TOOL SET WITH SOME WRENCES. AFTER CHANGING THE SENSOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MAY REMAIN ON. YOUR LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN THE LIGHT OFF FOR YOU. I WOULD BUY THE SENSOR FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I'VE HAD TROUBLE WITH AFTERMARKET SENSORS BEFORE.
  6. SEEMS TO ME THAT THE FACTORY ALARM ISN'T BEING DISENGAGED WHEN THE REMOTE START SYSTEM ACTIVATES THE IGNITION. THE UNLOCK/FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS AT THE THEFT ECU BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX OR PASSENGER KICK PANEL. IT IS YELLOW/BLUE AND NEGATIVE IN POLARITY. THERE SHOULD BE A WIRE FROM THE REMOTE START MODULE THAT SENDS GROUND TO THE UNLOCK/FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE TO DISARM THE FACTORY ALARM WHEN THE REMOTE START SYSTEM IS ENGAGED. YOUR WIRING WOULD HAVE TO BE INSPECTED BY A TECHNICIAN TO CONFIRM THIS.
  7. WHAT PART OF YOUR VEHICLE ENCOUNTERED THE COLLISION? WAS THE COLLISION MAJOR?SOUNDS LIKE MAYBE THE REAR SINCE THE TOP HAS BEEN AFFECTED. I'VE WORKED ON THESE VEHICLES AFTER REAR END COLLISIONS AND SEEN THEM WITH DAMAGE TO THE ARMS OF THE TOP MECHANISM. YOUR FIRST STEP WOULD BE TO CHECK FOR FUEL PRESSURE UP FRONT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. NEXT I WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF THE SPARK PLUGS AND INJECTORS ARE FIRING. YOU MIGHT WANT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO A SERVICE SHOP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. SEVERAL SYSTEM MUST BE CHECKED WHICH WILL REQUIRE SOME DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS.

  9. I HAVE A 1993 SC400 AND I INSTALLED THE TAIL LAMPS FROM THE 1997+ SC400 IN MINE. NOW THE BLOWN BULB INDICATOR TURNS ON IN THE DASH. IS THERE A WAY TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING OR SHOULD I JUST DISASSEMBLE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND TAKE THE BULB OUT?
  10. I'VE BEEN USING NITTO NT555'S ON MY COUPE FOR MANY YEARS AND I LOVE THEM. GREAT FEEDBACK, DRY AND WET WEATHER TRACTION. I USE 245/40/18 ON FRONT AND 265/35/18 ON BACK.

  12. IF GOING THE CUSTOM ROUTE, WHAT SIZE PIPING SHOULD BE USED AND WHAT REAR SECTION MUFFLERS WORK BEST?

  15. WIDE VARIETY OF CHOICES. THE EASIEST CHOICE WOULD BE TO FIND WHEELS IN 17X8.5 AND USE A 245/45/17 FRONT AND REAR. YOU COULD ALSO GO 17X10 IN THE REAR AND USE A 275/40/17.
