  1. Well I'll be extremely happy if they can blemish that little so that I won't easily notice it. I notice the smallest scratches that nobody else can see :whistles: . I remember after my 2nd accident I complained that I found a new scratch that I positively knew wasn't there before I dropped the car off. The body shop guy told me to stand behind my car and tell him if I could name all the scratches on my car. So I did start naming all the scratches, including approximate distance from landmarks (like saying there's a small scratch about 2 inches south of the door handle, etc) and even the dimple dents on my car. The body shop guy was stunned He probably thought I was a real idiot that I know all the damages on my cars lol. :whistles: So we'll see what the glass guy can do for me today.
  2. Lexi, it's a long story. To sum it up, I was rear ended (Thank God not in the Lex or BMW) 3 times within a one year span. I have full records with my Honda dealership that even they themselves can rest assure me that my rear alignment (it's awd) was knocked out. Just the fact that my alignment was done apr 10 then got hit on july 13 and I ran straight to my dealer to have the alignment checked and they said it got knocked out again. Yes there's a possibility that I may have knocked it out in between Apr 10 and July 13, but every time I have my oil change done they do an alignment check and every single time my alignment is perfectly fine! Actually it surprised me that I hit a few big nasty bumps in Nov and had my oil change in Dec, to find out that the alignment checked in perfectly OK . The service manager had a talk with the adjuster's manager and the service manager told me that they did not have a civil talk over the phone because Travelers raised their voice right away to take control of the conversation and to the service manager. In other words, he wanted to end the conversation ASAP even though the service manager could prove insurance wrong
  3. deductible is already $1000. i hate having to file anything with insurance. i feel that they'll have all the reason to sky rocket my premium. I'm having it injected today so we'll see how much it'll improve it's appearance on my windshield
  4. Back when she was only 4 months old
  5. I think the use of horns would reduce the amount of accidents on the road (then again it can cause some too with people getting surprised by the loud sound). I come from the Philippines and it will be to your disadvantage if you do not have a working horn in your car. The horn should be used to warn other drivers if there may be a possible accident or to notify people in blind areas or corners that a car is coming. Honestly that's what I practice and I may be the only person in the west coast who actually gives my horn a good exercise compared to other cars, but I use it for safety. In parking lots where theres a wall that covers the view of cars that are coming from the right side, I honk at least once to give a warning sound that I'm coming through and hopefully no one will cut the corner or whatever. I also use the horn when someone is cutting into my lane and I'm in their blind spot. It all depends on the scenario. It should be utilized but in a way that would benefit people and avoid accidents. (The horn on my Honda is actually so soft, I ordered an OEM horn from Honda in the Philippines which is louder than the Honda horns in America. The other cars we own have decent horns already)
  6. Looks good Josh! Hope you didn't have hidden damage like me. :( Looks like you only had body damage in the accident. In my accidents, I had an alignment knocked out which I paid out of my pocket because insurance was being belligerent even to the point of the manager of the insurance co talking to the service manager of my Honda dealer. My certified Honda dealership had told insurance that an easy knock in the a** of my car can knock out the alignment and records did prove that the accident caused it. I went through 3 accidents which is enough to prove the alignment issue but Travelers (who is my insurance) was being a real PITA. I had spoken to a claims adjuster who works for Farmers and he even told me that I can report my insurance company for not writing the rejected alignment on piece of paper and that they only verbally told me "eventually" (which is true, insurance never told me they rejected it, bodyshop did since it was their money who was on the table since insurance didnt pay them).
  7. It's really small but I'm still going to have a glass guy take a look and assess it ASAP because I might be taking the car out of town later this week again.
  8. Alright, hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a good new year! Unfortunately on my way home today from out of town, a rock chipped my windshield on my GX. I went straight to the Lexus dealership once I rolled into town and surprisingly enough it would cost a heart and kidney to replace the windshield... A whomping $1650 :chairshot: The aftermarket windshield only costs $260 and both prices include labor AND weatherstrips. The catch? Aside from an aftermarket glass, the rubber strips are also aftermarket and the dealership claims that the rain sensors for the wipers will not hold on properly on the aftermarket one and sometimes doesn't function on the aftermarket windshields. It looks like the only option is to either repair the windshield or crank out $1650. The chip is decently small, but it's bothersome since it's located on the driver's side of the windshield. I'm going to try and have it repaired for now (with the injection) but I'll see if it's worth $1650 to replace it. While waiting in the service drive though my dad had done some thinking. If the replacement is $1650 and we're still paying monthly on this car, then why not just add another $1500 on top of that to reach about $3000 and just lease a new one? What do you guys think? Better idea than replacing the windshield? We're not upside down on the mortgage so actually we might not have to crank out any money for a down payment.. Any thoughts? (given that the new car's monthly lease payments will be roughly around the current mortgage payments of my GX)
  9. Welcome and congrats on the new to you RX300! That's an awesome car. I used to have a 2000 RX also.

  11. Sometimes temperatures can affect the behaviors of windows. Sorry to hear about it but at first I thought it was your rear window because I've heard of stories that the rear window busted out because of the defroster and the temperature being so cold outside
  12. Congrats on the new 328i! Good thing you didn't pull the trigger on the used 335i because I almost forgot to mention that there's quite a bit of problems with the twin turbo on the 335i. What packages do you have on there? Looks like you have Nav, and probably Premium Package? Cold Weather Package?
  13. Carfax is never accurate. It takes a report 6 months to almost a year after it happened before it MAY reflect on the Carfax report. I've been hit 3 times on my car, and according to Carfax it only reported one of them, which is the only one that had a police report. The other two didn't have a police report because we settled it on the side of the road. The only peace of mind and guarantee for a clean car, is a brand new car ;) Don't let the carfax spoil your enjoyment. It's starting to spoil my enjoyment of my car only because I've been hit 3 times in the back end and I'm feeling like my car's bad luck
  14. E60 LCi 528i? I heard some dealerships have a 535i loaner and some even have 750Li loaners Also I didn't realize that my GX and 4Runner are also one click for the gas cap. I think it's my Honda that can do more than one click if you would like
  15. Hey I barely noticed that I should add the 460 in here, so cast your vote in! Lol I believe it's because you are a new member of this forum and it's set to allow you to post pictures after a certain number of posts, or it's possible that your picture is too large for the upload. Try uploading your pictures through an outside website like photobucket and then copy and paste the link using the link on top of the message you type up (It's the symbol of the picture, about 2 squares to the right of the smiley face, it says "Insert Picture")
  16. Maintenance Required Light FAQ try this if it is the reminder light to change your oil and stuff. 1. With your car OFF, place your key in the ignition and turn to "On". Do not start the car. 2. Find the odometer button and press until it reads the total odometer setting, (not the Trip A or Trip B setting). 3. Turn the key to OFF. 4. Place your finger back on the odometer button, press and hold. Then while still holding the button, turn the key back to "On" (not START). 5. Hold the odometer button in until the MAINT REQD light goes out...should take about 8-10 seconds.
  17. XM, Sirius, IPOD Integration FAQ Check out www.vaistech.com This is just the convertor from the xm receiver to the GX 470 (or similar models). Then any standard XM kit will work. I had everything done at Sound Advice in Florida. They had to order the convertor from sound gate in calif. Want to see if there's a sound advice or co-owned company, go to Tweeter.com. To order the convertor yourself go to soundgate.com. This page lists all the models it can be installed on. http://www.soundgate...uments/0277.pdf
  18. HOMELINK FAQ Many have questions on how to program the Homelink buttons. It is in the owner's manual but sometimes it may be confusing to understand the terminology. I've summarized what the manual states, and hopefully this will help anyone in the future (as I have in the past already hehe) "Ok. Delete the codes in the homelink then try this. (To delete, hold down the first and third buttons at the same time, hold for about 30-60 seconds till the light blinks really fast. Release and check if deleted if the light blinks at a slow but steady pace. That means there's nothing stored on that button) Hold down the garage door button and the homelink button u want programmed. Once the light changes from a slow blinking light to a rapid blinking light, release both buttons. Then go to the garage door openner and (this is different for all garage door openners) push the "learn" button ONCE. Within 30 secs, press the same button u programmed 3 times, and it should work." The reset button is the "learn" button on the motor if it's a rolling code unit. I forgot to mention that if your garage door opener is NOT a rolling code, to ignore the last steps after you get the light (when the homelink button is empty) blinking from slow to a rapid blink.
  19. Topic set to invisible to clean up my Pinned info. Need to organize this forum when I have more time so I decided to create this topic to pile them all here for the moment.
  20. I've cleaned up this forum a bit to make it easier to find information around here. I'm going to try and post common questions and information about the GX470 model here. If anyone has any problems or concerns feel free to contact me or any of the moderators here. Thanks Denslexusgx470 LOC Moderator GX Forum Moderator
  21. It can be done. My sales guy told me that GX470s can get GX460 rims if we wanted to. It's just an inch bigger, and with the previous 4Runners, the majority had the 17" rims that the GX470 has but the LTD 4Runners had an 18" rim so the 18" GX460 rim should fit nicely on any GX470
  22. It could be the the automatic wiper clicking. I haven't noticed that too much as I don't drive my GX when it's raining but I believe it's normal and should be coming from the wipers
  23. Not too much my style. I would love to buy LED tail lights if they keep it the same original design and colors
  24. I almost forgot about this thread. I think I've gotten used to the rattle but I haven't driven my GX too much lately as I've acquired other cars through the years and am driving those more than the GX. I believe it still rattles but I'm out of warranty so I don't mind it anymore. I'm at 58k miles at the moment
  25. I don't believe it will affect Lexus vehicles as I've only heard that BMWs and Mercedes Benz are the picky ones when it comes to tint. If you do tint them, pick the higher end film which should be "CERAMIC" film and not the cheaper "METALIC" or "METALIZED" films. With the ceramic film, you may tint your windows as dark as you want (or can if you want to stay within legal laws of your state)
