  1. I just purchased my '08 GS 350 and had the dealer move my XM from my '06 GX 470. the antenna is the sharkfin as my GS 350 had been 'prewired' whereas the GX was installed after market and had the small square on the roof. The quality is very good. I'll be adding the XM to my wifes '09 RX, but will have it installed elsewhere. Mark :)
  2. I have a 2006 GX. Dealer said you can't install XM because I didn't have the "am/sat" button. I went to local company Sound Advice (known nationally as Tweeter.com). They ordered the needed equipment and installed it for about $500. The equipment alone was almost $400. All I had to do was press the AM button twice, showed the dealer they went DUH!!!! Satellite radio works great. Mark
  3. How about arm rests long enough for your arms? :o
  4. Go to the Viastech web site ( www.vaistech) Then have the modules you need and can give you good instructions on installing it if you want to. I strongly recommend sirius over xm. I get real tired of the commercials and verbal commentary on XM. The sound quality of the Viastech modules with your Levinson system will be INCREDIBLE since you are putting a digital signal directly in to a digital system. When you get done with the installation, it will look just like it did when you drove it out of the dealership. Good Luck! If you're concerned as I was about installing a kit yourself locate the nearest Tweeters (tweeters.com to locate nearest to you). They will sell & install the kit. They told me only XM would work, but I was only the 3rd one to buy a kit at their florida stores The cost for the converter was 325. Install and the XM receiver & antenna came to another 125. Like everyone else said, hit the am button twice. The audio is awesome. :D
  5. Thanks. It's appears to be same piece. On the soundgate website it lists the price and tells you which model lexus it will fit. Tweeters will also order the piece and install it, for a price.. if you're a do-it-youselfer go for it. thanks, Mark
  6. Finally, there is a kit on the market you can buy. This is just the convertor from the xm receiver to the GX 470 (or similar models). Then any standard XM kit will work. I had everything done at Sound Advice in Florida. They had to order the convertor from sound gate in calif. Want to see if there's a sound advice or co-owned company, go to Tweeter.com. To order the convertor yourself go to soundgate.com. This page lists all the models it can be installed on. http://www.soundgate.com/upload//productdocuments/0277.pdf Lexus still refuses to acknowledge this can be done. UGH :chairshot:
  7. Has anyone actually had their dealer install satellite radio in their GX? I've bought my fully equipped '06 and my wife's basic '06 in Nov. I opted not to install satellite radio at the time as the dealer wasn't dealing - go figure I only bought two cars! I've read with interest the troubles everyone has gone through but never read anyone getting the dealer to install the factory authorized system. After a lot of shopping around I called the dealer and said I was ready to be held-up. We brought my car in this morning for routine maintenance and to get satellite radio installed. I've leased 7 cars from this dealer and my parents have bought 2 cars. They know me. My car maintenance supervisor called in shock. Lexus would NOT install satellite radio in the GX 470. period. Then my sales rep called in shock. I explained they needed to go read the message boards. Install the toyota or ES kit. I didn't care. We'll see what they have to say. Have you had the dealer install satellite radio? BTW - check out the new listings on coastal tech. They have the new unlock device for the GX 470's. http://www.coastaletech.com/APPLICATION%20GUIDE.htm Mark
  8. Just got my 06 GX with Nav, bluetooth etc. I'm about to seek out new Sprint phones w/bluetooth technology and have a unique question. Can you have two bluetooth phones (separate numbers) operating at the same time in the GX? Thanks Mark
  9. Test drove the GS 300. The wait was almost an hour before my drive. My dealer can't keep the GS in stock. They have already raised the price 3-grand instead of demanding $2-thousand over the sticker. This makes the price for a 300 about $45-thousand without Nav. Another 4-grand for Nav. :cries: The price we pay for living in south florida. The new ES is OK. but is nowhere near the GS. Not sure what I'll do when we trade in my '03 GS 300 in december. :o
