You think so? The battery is the only thing I haven't changed yet. I pulled the trigger for an alternator replacement but not the battery yet. Battery is charging better now but I think it's almost reached it's life by now.

Cars like these require no modifications as the car itself already has a lot of standard gizmos and gadgets. Also just FYI, cars like these are really picky if you decide to make modifications (like changing plate light bulbs to LED, etc), you can't just purchase any bulb or kit out there as you need the kits with the error canceling feature. I'm sure the guys at the Volvo forums can provide some links to the right items/accessories that you may be interested in for your XC. Unlike with Lexus and other Japanese cars (4Runner especially lol), it's easy to make any modification on Japanese cars.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase! To clarify your question, are you trying to find a place who sells the engine "beauty cover" that the GX comes with from the factory? Lexus dealerships should be able to order you one but it will be pricey. Try finding a local wreck yard who might have a wrecked GX with a good undamaged engine cover

Volvo's lookin good! These 4Runners really hold value. I remember my pops telling me the other night that he saw an 06 LTD 4Runner at carmax (he was bored and was checking out the cars on the lot) with 99k miles going for $18k still! I'm thinking to myself, I could still get a good $20k for mine still considering I have much less miles than that and my cars are IMMACULATELY clean lol. I know what you're talking about when coming from the 4Runner to a car based SUV. Going back and forth between my 4Runner and RX, I can definitely tell the difference in every drive lol.

I have to agree with what's been said. Nothing more to say. On a side note though, in the movie "Fast Five", the guys told O'Conner that "Toretto let you win". The E-class was probably trying to be safe while overspeeding at the same time. If you were on the Autobahn with the 400H, a 128i can easily run faster than you. BMW and Mercedes are sporty vehicles. Lexus is more about comfort and luxury. Also at high speeds, the RX feels very unsafe in case of an emergency maneuver or stop. I've been to the drive events held by BMW, and I normally take the vehicles out to a back road where I can test the acceleration AND stopping capabilities. Trust me, Lexus is very very far from a good stopping distance as I experienced when I slammed the brakes on an RX350 (11) vs an Audi Q5, Mercedes GLK350, and the new BMW X3 (11) (slamming the brakes from 70mph to ZERO). Just my 2 cents

I think I may have solved my own headlight problem hehe Hopefully they won't give me any trouble again but I had a couple hours to spare today and decided to look at my wiring again. Turns out that the ground for both headlights may be either a bad one or just loose so I decided to re-route my ground wires to a different location. The kit was ordered from Xenondepot. I'll just live with the rest of the lights flickering

From what I've heard on the T4R forums, the 4Runner is practically bullet proof. Although I have not reached 110k miles yet (only at 62k on my 06) so far I don't have any issues aside from the occasional "clunk".

It's caught my attention that I need to ask advice regarding my issue. At first I didn't mind the idea that the lights in my 01 RX300 slightly flicker when the car is turned on. It started to annoy me when my headlights were acting up. I installed HIDs in my RX300 but after a couple weeks my left headlight started to act up. Sometimes it will turn on, sometimes it won't. It's getting annoying so I'm trying to find a solution to this. I had a talk with a retired Lexus service manager and he mentioned that this vehicle has alternator issues. I had a new rebuilt alternator installed and that didn't solve the issue. Before the alternator was installed though the battery couldn't maintain the charge. Now according to the dealer, after installing the rebuilt alternator the battery is properly recharging. My question is, does anyone know what is causing my lights to flicker? It only flickers when the vehicle is turned on. Once the car is turned off, lights don't flicker. The HID kit sometimes turns on when the car is on, but when the car is turned off, the left headlight seems to have a hard time firing up. Could it be the wiring harness that I installed (which I know isn't necessary but I did it as a precaution). I'm thinking, if it's the wiring harness, how come it's only affecting the left headlight? It should be affecting both lights. I was also trying to think if the ground I used from the wiring harness is bad. Could the ground be causing the lights to sometimes turn on and sometimes not?

Carfax is only 50% accurate I believe. When I was looking at a low mileage 01 RX300 back a year ago, Lexus provided a carfax report which said there was an odo rollback. Looked at the service history and they claim that the service advisor must have typed the wrong mileage. I think it said 42,5** Service Done 42,1** Service Done So there was a drop of about 400 miles from the first service noted to the next one. I was interested in the vehicle but I didn't want the headache of a red flag on the carfax report. The dealer's solution? They talked to the carfax rep who drops by the dealership weekly and she changed it up... It then read 42,5** Service Done 43,1** Service Done Now how accurate is that second reading?

Not sure how much a new unpainted bumper costs, but I know you can have a brand new OEM painted bumper installed for about $800-$1000...

The one thing about the LFA that caught my attention was that it didn't have smart key. It had a key sticking in the ignition (if you notice the close-up pic of the ignition )

This is the first I've heard of this problem in the GX470. I would presume that there must be some electrical issue in your car which is causing the short in the map light console. I haven't experienced *knock on wood* that in my GX and neither in my 4Runner which I've replaced that map light console myself only because I broke the button for the homelink.

The dealer can easily handle that. I can't recall what the cause of my lights going on before, but I ran it to the dealer and they fixed it right away. Shouldn't cost much if ever.

Either they are worn out, or the quality of the actuators that Lexus used isn't that great. All of my actuators have gone out on my GX470 except one door. In my 4Runner my driver's door actuator has gone out already right before warranty expired.

Even if he did have a spare key inside the car, it wouldnt matter because the GX470 doesnt have smart key. A car with a smart key and a spare key inside the glove box will not lock any doors at all and instead you get a long "beep"

Haven't been around here for awhile, but you got me thinking SW. Lol I've always wanted to drive a new Grand Cherokee as I too love the way they look. Interiors always remind me of a Benz. The one Jeep that I really DISLIKED was the new Liberty. Had one as a rental, and I was fairly disappointed in it. Got about 13mpg in that thing, and had a rough ride to it.

Sorry for the late reply. I don't exactly know why your alarm would be going off if you never locked the car and you leave the keys inside. The only thing I could figure out is if someone locked the car and you had one faulty door lock that didn't lock, and somebody opened that unlocked door then that might trigger the alarm. Did you ever have this problem resolved?

I figured the same issue was something covering the sensor. Just for reference, the headlight sensor is one of those two round things on top of the speedometer. Not sure what the other sensor is for.

Sounds like the door lock actuators are starting to go out on you. When you press lock on the remote, the car doesn't "Beep" right? Common issue on Toyotas as I've found out. I've had all my door locks on my GX replaced except the left rear passenger (which is the door that is rarely opened/closed.
