  1. Sadly I've been partially converted to BMW now, but I still love Lexus lol. My 528i is really fun to drive, but I always remember to close the gas cap. On the X5 can you click it as many times as you want (like on Lexus vehicles) or is there only one click and it's shut? Mine's only 1 click.
  2. airbed (boy I haven't done this in a super long time)
  3. It should apply to any GX470 if you start feeling the clunk in your car.
  4. It sounds like your problem may be the clunk issue. Refer to the sticky thread on the top of this forum.
  5. Tough tough one. I should say the 99-00 RX300 because that was the first Lexus we ever got (so that should get all the credit), but personally my most favorite one has to be the 04-06 LS430. That particular model is what I think is CLOSE to perfection and perfectly fits the Lexus slogan. But don't worry I love my GX a lot. I wonder if I can get a 2nd Lexus in the garage at the same time to over rule the Beamer lol.
  6. Take it to your Lexus dealership. There must be an error code somewhere that is causing that light to turn on and off so it doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong with your DAC
  7. I have a 2005 GX470 with almost 90K and I have it in the shop now. Leak in manifold, drive shaft something (it made a clunk noise when stopping) and replacing the backup camera which looked like a negitive picture. Also had some paint come off of the hood the other day when I was washing it. What color GX do you have? Wish I could answer this question but since we've acquired a couple more cars in the garage, the mileage on my GX hasn't gone up yet. I only have 58k on my 03 GX and I've had my baby since January 2003.
  8. Looks nice!!! I'm jealous of the LEDs and HIDs lol. Let's hit the trail and get her dirty! I have a rental Jeep right now so we can still keep my trusty GX clean in the garage hehe
  9. That's correct. Also look at the sensitivity settings. Could be set to the least sensitivity thus requiring a lot more water to make the wipers turn on.
  10. There is a bulletin from Lexus that have a drone sound/ vibration from the differential on years 03 to 08 covered under warranty under 70 k miles. They install a dynamic differential damper, check the site under drone sound/ mann has some bulletins posted. Good Luck on the repair/ check with your dealer. The TSB for the vibration on the GX470 was different though. Don't quote me on this, but I had this problem come up on my GX after the dealership tried fixing the CLUNK issue. The vibration came from the steering wheel when you are driving around 60-70mph, 2000-2500 rpm. As far as the original poster's complaint, I don't quite understand where this vibration or sound is coming from. Does it consistently happen even with different road conditions? Sometimes the type of asphalt or cement may cause vibration or "noise" to come from the car.
  11. If you plan to keep the vehicle for awhile, I would suggest keeping the services at your Lexus dealer. I took the bite at a $2800 bill last month for the 60k check up and the timing belt. It's worth it because I would never trust the outside shops to service a $50k vehicle like this. This car has too many sensors and computers that outside shops may not be familiar with.
  12. Yes that is normal for this vehicle. The "psssss" sound is normal, the Toyota 4Runner actually has it too (My 4Runner has it, and I've test driven a new one and they still do it). As far as the knock you are asking about, when does the knock exactly happen? When you first step on it? When you release it? When the car is slowing down?
  13. I'm not exactly sure what that code stands for, but take it to your Lexus dealer and they can easily fix that. I had the same problem happen to me last year but I can't recall what the problem with mine was.
  14. Yes it was a shocker to see the new 5 getting defeated when a few months ago they did a comparison with the old E60 5 series and it won against all their competition even against the new E-class. I dont know what they did to the new 5, but I was fortunate enough to test drive the new 535i at an Ultimate Driving Experience event at my local BMW dealer. To be honest, it felt like a big disappointment. I didnt get to drive anything bigger than a 528i on the previous E60 5 series, but the new one (with a bigger engine than my 528i) felt heavy and had the same power as mine. Most of the guys on the 5 series forum don't even like the design of the new 5 as most of them changed out to the remaining 2010s they could get their hands on. They'll improve on it down the road I guess. I hope. My dad liked the new 535i. Looks like he has now converted to BMW but I still love Lexus even though BMWs are fun to drive. :)
  15. It all depends on what you are looking for in your next car. Lexus is more luxurious and reliable compared to BMW. BMW on the other hand, is more sportier (not just looks) but in handling and driving. They really stick up to their "Ultimate Driving Machine" slogan. If you go with a 335i Convertible, beware that the Sport Package with the run-flats... Those will really make your butt "Run flat" with the way they ride
  16. I'm not at all impressed with the iPad. Played around with one a few weeks ago, and the thing is just a huge iPod Touch/iPhone. You would think since this thing is bigger than the iPhone/iTouch, it could handle programs or videos requiring Adobe Flash Player <_<
  17. I might have a BMW parked in my garage also, but I don't have hopes of it surviving as long as my GX lol. Glad it wasn't a major problem! I heard a lot of 09 550i having defective BATTERY CABLES.. :chairshot: Spending over $70k on a car and getting a simple problem like a defective battery cable that not even the $12k KIAs have.
  18. This TSB will completely solve the clunk issue. I'm glad to hear that you guys don't need to print out my TSB from 06 to have your guys' GX fixed.
  19. What color GX do you guys have? I'm only aware of paint peeling issues on the 03 Sand Dollar Pearl GX470s but they discontinued that color in Feb 03 so there shouldn't be any paint peeling problems in the 04s and newer
  20. Nice video... I love how they defended the GX with the stability control issue.
  21. Depending on how deep the scratch is, just keep rubbing it with ur finger (skin, not nail) but if it's somewhat deep, it won't go away unless you change the whole panel BUT you can scratch it off with ur fingernail to kinda just "camouflage" it.
  22. The 1st Gen GX470 (03-09) is NOT affected.. Only the new GX460 is affected. If you are having VSC problems, then there's something wrong with your particular GX470 unit.
  23. The new GX all come with KDSS as standard now. Honestly I don't feel a BIG difference of driving this beast with or without KDSS as my GX does not have KDSS. The Lexus representative did realize that I drive a rare color GX though lol (Sand Dollar Pearl) The truth about discontinuing this color was not solely because of "paint peel" problems but because LX470 owners gave a negative feedback and didn't want the GX to look like their $65k SUV
  24. The design needs to grow on me also. The interior reminds me of a Lincoln for some reason. Unlike when the 1st Gen GX came out, or 8 months before it came out, I fell in LOVE with it the first time ;) Headroom is bigger on the 4Runner though, which would be the ONLY thing that my dad likes if he gets rid of the 06 for a new one.. Other than that we're not too fond of the styling on the 4Runner. My dad does like the GX460 for some reason. I love the LED tails and the available HID now, but does that really justify the extra $7k on the base price (Base price in 03 was $45,700)? Not to mention that the HIDs only come in the GX Premium, and not available on the GX regular
  25. Oh Ok. I must have misread your post then. Goodluck with the sale
