  1. I love Windows 7. I'm a Mac guy at heart but Windows 7 has some features I wish OS X had. I've been using 7 for at least six months (in beta) and I have to say it's pretty slick, it's Vista done right. However if you are going to purchase 7 and want to be totally legal you need to buy a FULL version, not an upgrade (the upgrade is a P.I.T.A from XP anyway). You can get an OEM copy of 7 Pro from newegg.com for $140. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16832116756 BTW correction in your post, 95/98/ME shared the same kernel, NT was on a TOTALLY different kernel than those, as was Windows 2000. XP was the NT kernel for home use and that is what Vista and now 7 are based on.
  2. I am very emotionally attached to my car. I still wonder where my G6 is even though I traded it in over two years ago.
  3. We got Kumho's for our Buick and they have been fine. We weren't sure at first since they are a "cheap" brand but we have no complaints.
  4. That's a hardware thing, you have a Gen 4 and your friend has a Gen 5. I'm sure it's possible to change but it'd cost you a metric crap ton. Like Booyah said, it would probably be cheaper to just trade in your's on a newer one, 2007-2009 GXes have the Gen 5 system.
  5. Very nice smooth, I figured it was the Benz. Now, you can start looking for your LS... :P
  6. I have no idea... I'm gonna guess it's not a Lexus since your dragging this out, it's gonna be surprising.
  7. Why did you say that all of GM has a lot of work ahead of them when your number 5 is a GM? I had to put the Saturn statement on there because it is also a GM that is based on the same platform as the Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave.
  8. The 2011s won't show up for about a year, the 2010 models are just starting to roll out for all the other models. You wouldn't be able to get end of year incentives until about September 2010. My advice is that if you want the car, now is the time to get it, you just have to know how to haggle with them. Start at the invoice price and work up from there rather than starting at the MSRP and going down.
  9. That reminds me of when I was like 10 yrs old my dad had the trunk door open on his van and I by force of habbit hit the garage door opener and it came down on the trunk door. It didn't do any damage to the car but it burned out the garage door opener motor.
  10. That was the Saab 9-7x (My company actually made parts for that!). It is based off the GMC Envoy/Chevy Trailblazer platform. Never driven one myself but it looks nice both on the inside and out. I don't know what it is but I don't like Subaru, I have absolutely nothing to base that on, I just don't think I could buy one.
  11. How about this one? http://www.lexusofpalmbeach.com/VehicleDetails/509925263 I don't know where in Florida you are so I'm looking at all dealers in Florida. There aren't any pics but I'm sure if you call they may get you some.
  12. I kinda like the blue interior lights but to each his own. I really think Buick is trying to change their typical focus of the older crowd, especially with the 2010 Lacrosse, but I don't think the Enclave goes after the older crowd either... Anyway, I think I solved your problem... get this... http://www.lcpo.com/cpo_podetails.psp?ID=4...0&year=2008 I'm sure you can talk them down...
  13. Time for my 2 cents... I'd personally skip the minivan, I grew up in minivans and my dad still has the Pontiac (see sig) and I just can't stand them. You look like you should be pulling up to the front door of an elementary school. IMO crossovers are the best bet. I really like the Buick Enclave, I test drove one a few months ago before I bought the RX. It was extremely nice, it was very Lexus like, quiet smooth ride but it didn't have many bells and whistles. The only reason I didn't buy it was because all the Buick dealers by me are crooks, have horrid service and I was spoiled by Lexus service with the ES. Have you taken a look at the Audi Q5? I haven't driven an Audi before but from what I assume it would be like driving the Infiniti power wise but the Q5 has a much better styling. Of course my first choice would be the RX. I haven't driven the 2010 yet but I'm so pleased with my 2004 that unless they stop making the RX my next (practical) car will be a RX450h.
  14. Yea... If I were in your position I'd cut my losses and just pick up another one. You can find really nice LSs for a reasonable price, just taking a quick look at autotrader.com I found a '96 with only 96k miles (haha a 96 w/ 96k miles) for around $6k but I'm sure you can talk anybody down on price. Then you could probably recover some of that by selling the parts from your current LS.
  15. Here, I'll put in my 2¢. I never had a problem with the quality of a GM product and before my ES my family was strictly GM. My first car was a 2006 Pontiac G6 that I bought brand new and it was a great car. The reason I won't buy one is because of the service, all the GM dealers in my area are known for cheating people in sales and !Removed! people on service. Also GM needs to focus on their practical hybrids like the Chevy Malibu. Most of the people who buy Tahoes, Yukons, and Escallades don't care about the gas mileage (plus they slap that ridiculous Hybrid sticker on the side of it). They need something like a Chevy Equinox/GMC Terrain/Cadillac SRX Hybrid, they brag right now about how the regualar gas versions get 32mpg highway, make it a hybrid and they'd really have something going! Well actually, the had it going in the Saturn Vue Hybrid, which they dumped, GM what are you thinking!?!?
  16. Lexus Enthusiast got some spy shots of the real 2010 GX not the Prado! http://lexusenthusiast.com/2009/09/11/2010...s-gx-spy-shots/
  17. Sewell Parts has it for $199 http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts_det...03904&all=Y
  18. I have to concur with you Smooth1, they are... :snoooorrrtttt: I was out mowing the lawn one day and saw two blonde teenage girls in a Soul and all I could think of was the two hamsters in the commercial. It just boggles my mind that some nut job considers a Jeep, Kia, Suzuki, or the Venza as exciting!
  19. Those pictures just make me sick. Why in the world would someone go and spend $40k+ on a nice luxury car and do something like that. The whole point of a Lexus (especially the ES and LS) is to look classy, not like you just came straight out of the ghetto. IMO the stock parts look the best because they were designed that way and the engineers paired the parts to go well with the car and with those aftermarket rims the whole car looks out of place.
  20. Yes, very well actually, when you're on a call (or conference call) you press the home button and the bar on the top of the screen pulsates green and you can do whatever else on the phone and once you're ready to go back to the call you press the green bar. Use it for a week and you'll be used to it. I used BlackBerries for years before the iPhone and I thought the same thing but now if I try to type on a blackberry or other physical phone keyboard it's harder for me than the iPhone. The thing about the exclusivity deal with Apple and AT&T is that this is nothing new, the iPhone just brought it to everyone's attention because it's so popular. When any new phone comes out it most likely has an exclusivity deal with a certain carrier but the phone isn't popular so no one really cares. Take for example the LG Voyager, an iPhone knock off, it is exclusive to Verizon but you don't hear anyone complaining about it because honestly no one give a crap about it. You only hear about it with the iPhone because everybody wants one but doesn't want AT&T's BS service.
  21. Let me correct you on something. AAC is Apple's preferred format, if you buy something on iTunes it will be in that format, it is a low-compression format so it has a better sound. WMA is Microsoft's preferred format. MP3 is kind of everybody's general format, the problem though is that MP3 is highly compressed so you loose some of the super highs and lows. In my opinion AAC sounds the best but that isn't supported by the CD player.
  22. Very nice! Although people here in the states would see that emblem and think "What the heck is that?" It's almost like an inside joke.
  23. Yea, you can buy it up until the day your original warranty runs out.
