  1. I did some checking on Lease vs Finance, they had crazy low finance rates (.9% for 60 months) but they payments would be almost $900/mo and I can't afford that, the lease is about $250 less per month. Kyle first off if you get the car congrats. What I am going to post next is just my opinion. My sister in law is kind of looking at doing something similar and I have been talking to her about it. One she is my sister in law and two I am her boss. I will give you the same advise I have given her even though you did not ask for it. If you can not get the car on your own you don't need to get it. I am sorry you do not need to go and get a BMW if mommy has to co sign for the loan. I feel that considering it is a lease then that is even more reason that if you cant get it on your own you dont need it. Leasing a car for over 650 a month and you can't write off the lease payments is not a great idea. I am sure that you can make the payments but why to have a new car? Now having said this it is your money, and your life so do what you want. I am not trying to be a jerk but just posting a honest observation. Maybe you are rolling in the dough ...and you can laugh at me! I do know this much there is no way the payments should be 900 a month financing this car at .9%. Are you putting anything down? What is the purchase price? Frankly I find that extremely insulting, maybe I'm taking it the wrong way but I don't care. I work my a** off as an IT Manager 50+ hours a week and if I want to spend my money on a $50k+ car I will. I'm only 20 and my credit report only contains three credit cards that I pay off every month, that is why I need a co-signer. Sure I could go buy a Hyundai and not need a co-signer but why buy a cheap $25k Korean car when I can afford a BMW? I COULD make $900/mo payments if I felt like it, I just don't want to. I get bored with cars so fast that in the long run it makes more financial sense to lease. On the other hand the RX is the one car that after a year and a half I still like it as much today as the day I bought it, that's why I'll pay it off and drive it until it won't anymore. Also buying/leasing a car through BMW financial looks excellent on my credit report, by the time I'm ready to buy a new car after this or a house they'll see that and be more willing to give me a loan and I will be able to do that on my own.
  2. Well I stopped at my BMW dealer today and they got in just this week a Black 328i convertible that is perfect! I had my Mom come with me and she cosigned, while on the way home they called and told me that the BMW financial called and most likely it'll be approved so I should be picking it up Tuesday! I did some checking on Lease vs Finance, they had crazy low finance rates (.9% for 60 months) but they payments would be almost $900/mo and I can't afford that, the lease is about $250 less per month.
  3. Hey guys, I was just browsing Lexus' site and noticed something while looking at the pictures for the 2011 IS C and 2011 GS. Can you see what's missing? They've stopped putting the Lexus badge on the back of their cars. Personally I don't like it but that's just me. I guess they figure everyone knows what the L badge means now...
  4. I don't know why I was thinking abou this today but I wonder... what is your favorite Lexus? Mine is the 97-01 ES300s this is probably because it was the first Lexus I had ever riden in many years ago, It belonged to my cousin's husband (they are now divorced... oh well). I was probably 14 or 15 then but from that day on I knew I wanted a Lexus and that car started my obsession.
  5. I love this version...
  6. A 2004 ES with only 48k miles! That's awesome, you've got a boat load of life in that. My '03 has about 85k miles and it sings, no problems at all. The ES (all Lexuses for that matter) have a timing belt but that gets changed at around 100k miles.
  7. Congrats! I'm really liking the new GXes, much better than the old ones. EX? Isn't that an Infiniti?! :P
  8. That is an amazing piece of work there, I wish I had a key like that. You never cease to amaze me with the stuff you've done.
  9. According to the Blue Book the Private party value ranges from $10,500 (fair condition) to $11,700 (good) to $12,400 (excellent). Are you selling the car yourself or trading it in?
  10. Well I got the lease prices on the cars. BMW wants $829/mo for 36 monts with just the first payment down and Lexus wants $754/mo for 48 months with $800 down. I asked what the ISC would be at 36 months and they said it'd be $829 as well, which I dont understand since the 335i is $60,900 compared to $52,005 for the ISC, plus I get no charge scheduled maintenance on the Beamer. I decided to go with the 335i but my credit app was denied because of my limited credit history, nothing bad, I just don't have established credit yet. I'm going to try to get one of my parents to co-sign for me, hopefully that will work. I love the way the new M looks. I'd take that over a 5 series, it seems so bland anymore.
  11. I tell everyone who asks this the same thing, it costs somewhere around $2.80 more per tank to use premium. Why risk damage or performance loss over less than $3 per fill-up?
  12. I don't think there is a way to check the codes without a reader but AutoZone will do it for free.
  13. Congrats Dude! I love that Truffle Mica color, if I were to get a new Lexus that'd be the color I'd choose. What a deal you got, over $6k off sticker!? That's amazing!
  14. I had a feeling you'd all say BMW. I was leaning more towards that myself. While I love the Lexus ride, that's what my RX is for. This car is meant to be more sporty, which is what BMWs are made to be. Thanks for all your suggestions, I appreciate it. Now I just have to see if I can afford an M3... I hope so. Whatever I get I'll be sure to post pics when I do.
  15. New, I don't think you could find a used IS C, at least it would be difficult.
  16. Hey guys, I'm looking for a new car. I've wanted a convertible for as long as I've been driving and I'm finally in a position to buy one! However I'm torn between a BMW 335i and the Lexus IS 350 C. They cost about the same, they have similar options but I can't figure out what to get... What do you guys think, if you were buying a convertible what would you choose? Thanks for the advise!
  17. Clearly you just need to stick with the X3. I had the same feeling for the RX but kept settling on other things and now that I have an RX it's the only car I've still enjoyed getting into every morning even after owning it for over a year. You've gotta go with your gut, and it's screaming X3.
  18. I got an iPad about a week after it was released and I love the thing! It just works, and works well. I use it to take notes in meetings and keep my task list in addition to just having it laying around when I want to show someone a YouTube video or a website, it's extremely versatile.
  19. I'm glad to hear your RX is holding up so well. Mine has only 78,000 miles on it and my goal is to make it to 250,000. I would never, in a million years, buy a Jeep. My Aunt had a 2007 Grand Cherokee Laredo, V8, fully loaded and it spent more time in the shop than on the road and it had an oil leak the whole time she had it. They traded it in a few months ago on a 2010 RX350.
  20. I have a feeling this is the disc. Take the disc out and clean it, if that doesn't work try getting a new disc.
  21. I know this thread is over a year old but I saw this at my Lexus dealer this weekend and HAD to post it, you can see why...
  22. I've only eaten in my RX once when I was rushing somewhere. I used to eat all the time in my old Pontiac G6 but it had cloth seats and I really didn't care. I am a neat freak about my cars, I never have anything in there for more than a day except for my golf clubs during summer and I clean it almost once a week.
  23. I just read on Jalopnik the buying process for the LFA. You have to plop down $60k just to order one! Then you have to pay the full 24 month lease at inception, all $298,000 of it. Then at the end of the lease you want to keep the car you'll have to drop another $93,750, THEN the car is legally yours. Let me just get out my checkbook.... You can read the full process here... http://jalopnik.com/5496332/lexus-lfa-leas...12400-per-month
  24. The Mustang is a great example of this. I've been toying with the notion of getting a 2010 GT. I looked at some of the older (2005-2009) ones and the interior is just garbage compared to the 2010. Ford seems to have really stepped up the build quality and design. I think GM has done the same with the new Equinox and Camaro but they are still Government Motors...
  25. First off, Congratulations! Second, back in the day (not that many days ago) wagons were the family car, who says you couldn't have one now? However the new Sienna is pretty cool, especially the limited. They aught to slap L badges on those. Hahahaha... nice
