  1. One thing I'd suggest you get for your MacBook Pro is the Apple Care extended warranty. I bought it for my MBP (the day the original warranty expired luckily) and it saved my butt. About a month ago (after the original warranty expired) I hit my computer (I was mad and at the Windows computer I was connected to) and it fried the logic board (motherboard for all you PC users). If I didn't have the warranty it would have cost over $1,000 to repair, at that point I would have just bought a new computer, but I had the Apple Care so I took it to the nearest Apple Store, gave it to a guy at the Genius Bar and they sent it in for repair on Sunday and I got it back Tuesday in working order.
  2. Congrats SW!! I've been a Mac "Fanboy" forever (I counted I've had 35 Macs, 6 iPods, 2 iPhones and an Apple TV), I'm currently using a 15-inch MacBook Pro that I absolutely love! Beware though, once you go Mac you can't go back...
  3. My RX has 64,000 miles, I bought it with 58,000. The ES has 71,000.
  4. AT&T requires a data plan if you use a smartphone... as of Yesterday... http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2351924,00.asp
  5. Personally I love my iPhone, I had two BlackBerries before it that were also great... The iPhone is very durable, I've dropped and thrown my iPhone numerous times and nothing has happened to it. However if you just want a "Phone" and nothing more, or even a smart phone that's unlocked and works on AT&T check out newegg.com. They are an incredible electronics online retailer that sells stuff extremely cheap and they have brand new unlocked phones. If you just want to get her a new RAZR you can get one for $79 unlocked, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16875209153
  6. In my 04 RX I have the v3.01 disc and the volume screen top left, bottom left, etc doesn't work. Is there something different for this version?
  7. I definitely like Lenovo ThinkPads, I can't say anything for the rest of the line because I haven't used it but if they put the same engineering in the rest of the line as the ThinkPads then I like it. I get what your saying about hooking up the netbook to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and that makes a lot of sense. However as you mentioned he wants to watch DVDs occasionally so he'd have to carry around a DVD drive all the time.
  8. I guess since everybody has put their 2 cents in I might as well too.... I think for the people who chose to take advantage of the program it is great, get out of a old, un-efficient car and into a nice new one at a good price and can get an incredible price for their old rust bucket. However it is sad that good working cars get thrown away, some cars aren't even 10 years old and have plenty of life in them. The other problem is what's going to happen when this program is over? The automakers will go back to the same position they are now, this is just a temporary blip in sales. They are bringing all these people back to work to build the in demand cars but once it's all over I'm almost positive they'll all get laid-off again. Another thing I don't like is that they take my tax dollars and give it to people to buy cars with but when I'm ready to buy I won't get anything because I bought a fuel efficient car from the beginning!
  9. If your going to be on the computer for an extended time I don't think a netbook is for you. I had an Asus Eee PC and it was just too small, I have two 15-inch notebooks (a MacBook Pro and Dell latitude) and after using the Eee I felt crosseyed. My favorite business notebooks are Dell's Latitude line. I have a Latitude D820 that I've had for over 2 years that has been beaten pretty bad but has held up well. I would STRONGLY advise against HPs, we have a few HP notebooks at my office that our former IT guy bought that are full of problems. To answer your question though I'd go with the second processor choice, the speed may seem lower but with more cache and a higher bus speed it will be much faster. Just as an FYI I am the head of my companies IT department and am certified both Microsoft Professional and Microsoft Desktop Support Technician, so if you need to ask any computer questions I'd be happy to answer.
  10. I'm pretty sure the dealer will activate it when you buy the car. I know some people who have bought GM cars that had XM activated upon purchase so I'd assume Lexus dealers would do the same.
  11. As far as I can tell they are identical, just different years. As far as I know there isn't any difference between any of the 430s.
  12. Here is a place you can buy a new key for $154, they will cut the key for you but you'll have to get it programmed to your car by a dealer. http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts_detail.asp?id=85836
  13. I have to agree, my uncle has an 04 GX and the 3rd row makes about as much sense as the back seats in the SC430. The seats are only inches from the ground so I'd assume when you sit back there you're knees come up to your chest. I'd say the Sienna is the best people mover but if you want to pass on the "soccer mom" van, the Sequoia looks to have a nice 3rd row. I noticed the 4Runner has a 3rd row as well but I'd assume it's the size of the GX's.
  14. Hey guys, so my RX is covered in swirl marks and minor scratches, it was that way when I got it. I thought the dealer would put a little more effort into a CPO car but I guess not, after all it is Black Onyx... So where do I start, what products would you recommend, and how do I go about getting out all these marks? Thanks!
  15. Very nice, I wish I had your skill... or you lived near me so I could take it to you. My RX is covered in swirl marks that I'd love to get off but I don't know the first thing to do.
  16. If he's not talking about pets I think he's talking about your feet. You told us about when you were doing that long walk/run/whatever and you got all those blisters, maybe that's what he's referring to.
  17. You do not have to have the dealer do the upgrade, you can do it yourself by buying the map DVD from Sewell Lexus here... http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts_det...90141&all=Y Also you do not have to do incremental updates, if you buy the latest version it will work, you do not have to buy all the versions in between.
  18. I've got two sets of floor mats for sale... One is a grey set from my 2003 ES300, I replaced these with the All-weather mats. They are really clean. I believe these will fit any ES from 2002 to 2006 (Please correct me if I'm wrong) The other is a black set from my 2004 RX330, they gave me two sets when I bought the car so this set has never been used (They are not packaged to they may have been used by the previous owner but they are really clean). These will fit any RX from 2004-2009 (Again please correct me if I'm wrong) Make an offer... pictures can be provided if needed.
  19. HAHAHA This is the best thing ever created... Actually a year or so back when I was in High School we had a model congress and this was introduced as a bill to be made into law... it was the best debate I have ever heard.
  20. HAHA nice job there SW. This reminds me when my friend and I bought 2 giant plywood boards and brought them home in his Camaro, it wasn't fun...
  21. This is really sad. I had just finished watching an episode of Pitchmen when my friend called me and told me the news. I didn't want to believe him but I knew he wouldn't make something like that up. I loved watching that show, he was such a nice person and a true family man. He will be missed....
  22. It's $182 from Sewell Online... http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts_detail.asp?id=34361 Plus you'll have to get the remote programmed to your car, I'm not sure if you can do it yourself or if a dealer has to do it.
  23. NC, that is the best story I have EVER heard! I have wanted to do that sooo bad, like when I was doing 75mph on the express way (the speed limit is 65) and everybody decides to ride my tail. Yea maybe it's "going too far" but in the end they learn a lesson (hopefully). Anyway, I'm glad Lexus is on top again, didn't they get knocked down by Buick a while back? Also what's the deal with Jaguar, weren't they at the top of the list the same time Buick was on top?
