  1. would autozone have the scanner for abs airbag and the trac ecu?
  2. not sure if you guys are aware so here is todays random thought when having a windsheild replaced leave the car to sit as long as possible after atleast 48 hours if it has to be driven home then turn very easily as the windsheild is a major part of the cars structural integraity if it is shifted before the ureathance sets it will cause budges and pressur points on the winsheild that is the reason most windows crack with long spider lines as the car is releasing it pressure from the window just a thought i have 3 real hard chips on my es and no cracks i guess when they made mine they didn't move it around much or atleast the seas were very calm to not rock the boat
  3. never heard of it and i think that kind of lock would be illegal unless lexus provided the service for free the older door trpe air sensors usually just need a good cleaning with throttle cleaner to get up to par again usually not replaced they are huge and made of metal very hard to break unlike the heated metal filiment on the 94 and up ones which have a small hair like thermosister that is cooled by air flow to give the ecu a reading i think you mechanic is a waste of time go to lexus and get a professional to work on the car once and right it is true some cars have multiple problems but this ain't no ford should be this hard to find ( sorry if he is your friend ) but he has got to be fleecing you
  4. you might need a good suspension check i see no reason for tires to go that fast but where is the wear on the tires edges or overall worn out i might even say you push the car beyond its limits causeing hard wear
  5. the calipers look real nice but i knew they would with the kit lol ;) why didn't you get a pic of your reflection in the rim so you could be the second loc member with a pic on this site of them self
  6. here is an odd though if it is not the sensor maybe it is the pump that is giving adequate pressure under idle but when sped up it cannot sustain any pressure possible because of wear on the blades and the ecu recognizes that and throws on the light so even with full oil ,the car is being starved for oil especially at the upper portions another thoght is maybe your oil filter is plugged and causeing a blockage just a thought
  7. well you could alway take it out send it to me and i would dyno it and send it back since i would have a before and after dyno spec :D
  8. if it is fresh and hasn't fully cured go straight to a power washer with about $20 worth of change and blow that crap off the car if the wax on your car is fresh you should have no problem with it falling right off any other way like washing it will cause the cement to scratch the paint badly the powerer washer will knock it right off the car works great when you put the nozzel 1 inch away from the debris , to remove it quicly
  9. i actually did use a chamois to wash my car before i use it with a soap bucket it works great and keeps the sponges from scratching the car now i use a sheeps kin wash mitt real soft and tehn i power wash it clean after i wash the car then once a month i put it in the washing machine i think that wax rinse stuff will makke the car harder to dry as the hot water will create a waxy build up and streak when drying it off just a thought as i may not know exactly of the type of waxy rinse it is
  10. you did use red coolant right
  11. it may onyl be a glaze from a panic stop usually wears off quicly if driven gingerly for a bit or just use sand paper to the disc to help clean em up look at the rotor and see if the have any gouges from debris or uneven surfaces
  12. welcome to the club i think you might be able to find a used regualtor in a wrecker also i think it may be a camry regualtor as well but not sure try fixing the wire first as it is cheaper
  13. as a thought most sensors are in open loop when on cold start mode meaning the computer takes none of the values into consideration when cold and runs at a set ecu setting as they are unrelibale readings usually the car runs better when cold then dies out after when it gets real readings at normal operating temp
  14. never heard of it but i know that there is a 10 year emmison warrantey on hondas as when i asked honda of america or my mother inlaws car and i was very suprised
  15. the are very nice they look like the zenneti rims
  16. no problem how are you going to get the codes do you have a reader?
  17. sorry i assumed as you said you were a tuner you had the book for the obd II coding it is a huge list get the codes and i can tell you what they list as
  18. wow i didn't know at 27 i was already considered a senior woo hoo now i can get the drug store discounts once a month depends adult undergarments here i come lol
  19. the ac light blinks when ever the car is turned on and the a/c is turned on as it is sayig the sensor is sensing lock up in the compressor
  20. what size rims are you looking at getting is the first question 40-43mm is the optimal with a 225/40 -18 tire max
  21. caps help in releasing power in short bursts when needed think of it as a buffer to keep the subs from bottoming out the amp and distorting the stronger notes of music i have 2 12's and8 speakers in total running off of one amp rated at 400 watts but it is a class a/b amp so it is very clean it hit real hard i used 4 gauge running from the battery and have brax cap ( the best you can get as most others are not even a full farad, when tehy say they are) like i said i did also replace the bat with the optima yellow but i did the wires at the same time so i can't tell which helped more
  22. it definatly sounds like the alternator turn an interior light on also to se if it dims as well otherwise it might eb a power issue with the amp the alternaotr usually goes int hat car because of a leaking power steering pump which reaks havoc on the car check both of them
  23. first you don't awnt abs to kick in it is only to help steer a car whne the wheels lock up which also increases a cars ability to stop and increases its distance you may need to bleed the brake system as you may have air bubbles behind or inside hte calpiers which are causing the brakes to fully grip on some calipers but not all thus causing a strong pedal feel but no response heat will cause brake fade also but it usually needs a good race for that to happen do any of you feel any strong pulsation from the brakes when applied? i have slotted rotors and love them next is braided steel lines to improve the feel
  24. i would rather clean out the carbon i feel stop and go traffic is more ause to an engine tons of heat and opposite forces every few seconds and bbsal we are still waiting for the dyno results funny enough i was just thinking abuot that today to ask you i have gotten to 210 km and it would not go anymore that was when i was pretty bone stock last attemp i went to 200 km but had to slow down and it felt much better ,more stable and the brakes could keep up now to slow me down before with stock rims suspension and brakes i felt like i was floating and gonig to lose control of the car if the wind pushed much i am not sure if the full advantage of overdrive would be reached as the throttle would be WOT ( wide open throttle) thus keeping the TC ( torque convertor) from being activated just a thought sorry not sure what that stuff in miles is
  25. it is obd 2 so the codes will be the same for any 97 and up car
