  1. just tell them you have a camry in fabric and want to do the front 2 in leather if they say it is more expensive when you get there you know they are scammers
  2. i agree the alt will not get damaged unless it already is and it doesn't run off the battery except to start also when checking wires you need to check both ends not just by the terminals mine corroded on the main body ground under the battery tray
  3. there are no issues with the remote starter unless you let a butcher install it ir use a crappy alarm
  4. there are automotive upholsters they remove the fabric and replace it with wild coloured vinyls or leathers or just plain and simple like a nice E55 2 tone black and grey leather or suede headliners like in a cl 55
  5. junk yards do a google search
  6. you should do a search normal problem
  7. wasn't this pole dones like4 months ago do a search>?
  8. i would say the gas thing is way off as well the ecu does not show a code for octane level even if it knocks it would have to be real bad i might say the gas went bad, or you may have boosted it with a running car causing a power spike
  9. the scanner is always correct but it is not an exact science the codes are given when a sensor reading is abnormal it is up to the tech to decide why it is like that is it a defective wire the engine burning oil there are many factors it is not as simple as pluging the scanner in and getting a code and just pulling that sensor out to replace it as many people assume only a mechanic would do that a technition knows more and uses it
  10. i am going to say the interior temp sensor is not functioning as it find the interior not hot enough to need a more cooling of the fan speed it may have fallen in the dash it is usually located on the right side by your knee on the dash pop the cover off and see if it is still moounted there it uses the hvac system to suction interior air past a sensor for adjustments in fan and temp speed have you done the self diagnostic a/c test ( try that as welll if not)
  11. it is fine to let midas change brakes, belts struts and tires the simple things but when it comes to ripping apart an engine for a new timing belt then i prefer to spend a ton of money and have lexus do it as they do it all day long
  12. go and look in the detailing section should have lots of ideas in there
  13. another option is going to a place that does show cars i know it is about 1400 canadian to do a whole car interior in vinyl ,door skins and all so it should be around 500 usd just for the front seats in leather
  14. they are pretty easy to do i have a clifford one now owned by dei which owns viper as well the remote starter is the only problem if any but a good shop can do it right pay to get it done rofessinally by a high end shop as others have had problems with the power locks not working right because they used the wrong wires
  15. are you sure it is the caliper sticking r is it the hand brake which uses a drum setup inside the rotors check them it just might be adjusting them
  16. 94 and up is obd II there is software but i don't have it i have the actual plug in scanner for all obd II cars do a google search and you should find a few of them good luck
  17. pep boys and other places sell the screws for like1 dollar
  18. none of the speakers have any cut off it is the way the amp is made to hadle only the original speakers which are full range also they are very efficent, meaning they use little pwoer for their output when you changed the speakers they now have less output and different audio frequencies causing you to think it is not playin the full rnge but it is just not giving the same out put of the other frequencies the front speakers are connected in wiring for the tweeters as well so they create a 2 ohm line instead of the usual 4 ohm as the system is set up to handle this
  19. good going sounds like the wire for the compressor lock up being grounded out and causing the system to go offline
  20. i don't see tehm much in canada much but in the the states like new york they are prevalent i also know they are not that hard to break as the ball and spring can be drilled out easily as the chrome is only coving a little hole filled with lead solder that is easily drilled out then it just falls out and the lock pops off
  21. good call i would have done the same but that is only because i would have changed the rims anyway i probably would have complained and tryed to get more out of lexus for the screw up as it is a pretty big one( i have a friend who does the ordering for toyota canada) and it really hits the fan when a vehicle comes in with the wrong ordered equipment plus you could have sold the 18's for more money
  22. toyota parts are worth there money think of most aftermarket parts as ford parts they are not up to par and below standards for a good reliable ,long lasting part you can get cheaper one but you definatly get what you pay for
  23. the camry ones are the same i already put tehm in unfortuantly i had to cut the upper bearing off to get the new ones on problem was i replaced one and it was bad so i decided to replace the other one as well that i though was also bad i was wrong it was fine and the new used one i put in wa bad so i now have to get a drivers side one again
  24. try a search of the whole forum next time and you could have saved the 100 to program the key it is only a few buttons to press and about 3 minutes it is in the es 300 section as all 97 and up lexus went to the key for except the gs with more buttons on the key in 98
