  1. shims usually don't need to be replaced as tehy are only a small peice of metal that receive no wear or movements the pads may have glazed causing the noise though
  2. as you alreadty had the battery changed i would say there is some kind of excessive load as stated before 1 week is short but my battery was toast as well because my wiring needed to be changed to feed the battery properly when needed
  3. i don't know of any lexus that uses power steering fluid instead of atf but i could be wrong i would recommend checking the owners manual and changing it immediatly the 2 don't mix
  4. the evils you already know but i am not sure if there is a sensor connected to it to not allow the airbag to function if the seat belt is not engaged the belt usually has a ground wire from the clip which creates a full cuircit when the belt is engaged in order to do this follw a wire usually from the belt to the base of the seat if it is kept grounded then the car will think it is on
  5. 20 feet is nothing to worry about the brake should readjust itself with in a few times of reversing and using the regualr brakes that's why they call it emergency brakes also it is still designed to bring the car to a stop ,although very slowly it still can take the movement
  6. that is what i meant the bmw have flared fenders allowing the rims on them to sit further outfor a wider track wheel position
  7. definatly a camber issue due to a bad alignment the alignment should have been done atleast 3 weeks after the car was lowered not right after as the new springs need to be loaded to start to settle after a good 500 miles they usually don't go any lower
  8. deals do charge alot to adjust the "valve lash" meaning the amount of clearance gained through normal wear and tear toyota does not use a self adjusting rocker not do they use a regualr bolt adjustment meaning the reason it is so expensive is because the tech has to measure each of the 24 valves and adjust the crank to tdc ( top dead center) and then apply a shim to each valve to stop the noise you could always use a thicker oil to try and quiet it down
  9. you may need to check if the brake pad shims where reinstalled if not then it will squeal
  10. all cars have to have a charcoal vapour recovory system in tehm there is a slight bulge in all gas tanks at the top to keep some air in the tanks as gas can be compressed unlike liquids so incase of it heating up and expanding this area will take the pressure rather than crack the tank i fill mine all the way up also but i get air miles so i try and get the most i can also the gas pump handles allow air into the tank when filling so it stops before it reaches the filler neck as the bubbles pop to lower the level
  11. i used to have that problem since i drive my es 1-2 every couple of weeks as i have a daily drive to beat up i replaced the battery with a deep cycle one from optima and have never had to boost the car yet in 1 month and it used to be almost a daily routine to drive the car
  12. i have them too not sure which cleaner i used to have caused it maybe a sneezed and it reacted on the plastic i can't figure it out anyway
  13. that's dumb which manual says code 28 is the right sensor it isn't a rear wheel drive car oh i think it means the right side ot the engine sorry i forgot which is left and right in regards to crankshaft rotation my guess is it is the rear one but that is a educated guesstimate lol
  14. do yo have the right section this is the es 300 forums they do not have a differntial that is external as it has always been a front wheel drive platform also no diff fluid to change since the one it has is housed i the tranny itself did you mean to post in the IS 300 or RX 300
  15. first thing a cold start is just that the trannys are made to run the rpms high until a satisfactory engine temp has been reached you obviously like to turn the key and drive off give the car atleast 30 seconds if not a minute to get its fluid going just think of how easy it is for you once you get a shower but when youi first rolled out of bed it was oohhhh someone shoot me ,i don't want to get up yet
  16. junk yard all the way
  17. it is an injector in the manifold not a sensor you are refering to , it think try to get a good fuel cleaner first also the car will shift weirdly when it is cold but get a good fuel claening done oh yah the tranny does have a filter but it is a metal mesh not a paper one so it does not get replaced only cleaned
  18. try another store you need an obd 1 code reader most shops have them of go to a small independent and tehy might read it for $20 the 97 and ups are obd 2 but the es started the obd 2 codes in there redesigned 94 engine
  19. i think it is built in to the throttle body and machined off after as most of the properties of the engine are ecu controlled including the idle
  20. dent removal works for metals not ureathanes or plastics and polymers look in the yellow pages
  21. you have a 94 es 300 with eyelets on the mats and holding hooks on the floor of the car? i have never seen an es 2nd gen with this wouldn't mind a pic i wonder if someone added it?
  22. all autos with a brake applied elctronic shift lock have a bypas button for just this instance
  23. my front bumper got clipped a while ago and i ran for about 3 years with no front plate got pulled over once and told the cop it "just got hit off" it is in my trunk what do you want me to do stick it on with bubble gum? the little scratch from the screw and the cracked plate frame made it belivable
  24. which one you have 3 sensors 2 before and one after the cat it isn't unsafe just you might over work the cat by running rich and causing the car to have more power i doubt the exess gas might cause the cat to overheat but your gas mileage should go down
