  1. 18 driving hard city , 31 straight highway
  2. Easy test, start the car cold, does the fan spin slowly or really fast (loud whirring noise ) then does it stay fast or slow down once it starts. When it is working normally it will spin fast on start up like a plane prop then slow down. As the fluid settles in the clutch it is locked until it is spun , then it slows down and will only lock up again until heated to a set temp. If it spins slow it may need fluid which is hard to find from toyota and harder to fill but costs $3. If it is locked you cannot turn the fan by hand when the engine is cool and off. then you need a new clutch all 1990-2000 are the same only option is the towing package with a different temp fluid. Switch to an electric fan like i did when mine locked up.
  3. undo the little Phillips screw beside the fender on top of the headlight. then pull it towards the front of the car and it pops off.
  4. It should be default to work that way , if not drop by the dealer to allow the option. You do have to press and hold the button until they are fully closed.
  5. The absorber is nice but will still scratch as it cannot hold the dirt away from the paint .
  6. only keep the key by itself to see if it continues. otherwise it is a harness , you need to jiggle around wiring harness to see where the short is, it might be by your battery or fuse terminal .
  7. hids are easy to get , install and cheap compared to the $800 i spent on mine 7 years ago. Lowering the car is easy but it might be a bit rusty and give you a hard time loosening some bolts , so keep a torch handy , lube the shock mounts and rent a spring compressor. Also wait until you can afford new shocks and do it all at once to save some time and get the best ride.
  8. Great topic title , it gets right to the point with all details. The first thing to check is the little red alarm light on the dash flashing after you insert the key. If it is still flashing ,the key is not recognized and is shutting the car down.
  9. Not hard to do just rewire one side to the battery. Make sure you add a diode .
  10. I would start by visiting your local pepboys , they have mood lighting to add soft led spot lighting for areas, the trunk thing lexus sells as an organizer, and a mirror cap can be customized to fit but may cost a few 100.
  11. It should be fine , i would rather upgrade the original fog lights than adding more. If you fit the piaa inside the oem housing or got HID's it would really clean it up.
  12. 2 options get yellow film from ebay and apply it over the lens, or buy new bulbs to change the colour.
  13. The rims should have been installed with the rings, it is about $20 a set ,1 for each wheel and it centers the wheel on the hub. Go back and ask them.
  14. absolute garbage for drying a car, it will scratch the paint to hell.
  15. I don;t think it is true, it should be stored on the cluster , i have rarely heard of it being summoned from the ecu to show mileage. Carfax and other state inspections should show the true mileage.
  16. Too bad , i really would be crying and would have found a way to have 3 connecting flights and a stop in honk kong just to be there. BTW a VIP magazine is a car culture for nuts like me who like real luxury V8's wide low cars with big deep wheels . It is also called bippu and is fashioned after the Japanese Mafia Yakuza since the cars look very gangster.
  17. they are the exact same with only a few interior options.
  18. disconnect the battery again or have the dealer reprogram it.
  19. You can add a camera by adding a video switcher , their are cameras that actually do 90 degree split windows so you can see to the left and right which is great for pulling out of a parking space or alleyway.
  20. I am glad things are working out with the dealer finally. I would also say it would be nice if they offered you a trade option. Good luck.
  21. most LS400's have 3 cats and 2 mufflers. Do a search i made a huge thread with pics on this subject.
  22. Ok , here is a simpler version. If you cannot provide a full 14 volts of power to the seat heater elements which is a resistor it will not warm up. You will never be able to feel if it is working until you get a high and proper voltage of 14vdc. So you want to make sure they work get the car put on a battery charger then take the car for a drive after a min of 4 hours. It will show the heaters in action as the car has enough voltage stored to not be replenished by the alternator to run the car. So if your battery is old , the main wires are looking corroded this adds to the resistance and makes the heater coils very ineffective. The more voltage drains i remove from my car by new wires and LED's my seats now get hotter. It is to the point that in traffic last night it was so warm i had to open a window in 20 degree weather .
