  1. hood shocks are easy as hell to find , trunk ones are another story all together.
  2. they take alot of cleaning to get the iacv to work again after it gets locked up.
  3. Hey if you would like some fresh snow i am sure i could fed ex overnight some to you instead. LOL
  4. clean the belt with warm soapy water then silicone lub the upper anchor and it will start to slide back in with ease.
  5. I just threw my ngk iridium's in 2 weeks ago and love them. They came "pre gapped" with cardboard ends to make sure they did not change while in the packaging. I don't bother checking the gap any more as they are always dead on. Platinum last longer but is not as efficient in spark, copper used to be the best for the electrode for low resistance and did not last as long. but iridium takes higher heat levels and is less resistance.
  6. There is a place called princess auto who sell them in Canada. I know i have seen them at wal mart as well.
  7. simple , no vvt no interference. It may in fact have lost compression but it is not because the valves hit the pistons.
  8. all lexus have pins on the emblems it allows perfect alignment when replaced.
  9. has to do with the vac assist valve being plugged.
  10. Has it ever been in an accident? Get some new stainless steel hardware to replace it and solve the problem permanently for about 6 cents.
  11. It seems he did not do a bypass but instead removed the radio and added his own aftermarket unit from pioneer which allows the options he spoke of. Very poorly explained in the first post i must say.
  12. goofy i do have an idea of what i am talking about. A scissor jack is not the best but it saves space. If i cannot clearly see what i am doing then i don't think i should be doing it. Besides doesn't the manual mention about the car being level with parking brake and car in park? Actually i do carry wheel chocks they are yellow plastic for $4 and sit beside the spare tire on the curve so i loose no room , you know ,just in case.. BTW I like my car and that is all that matters to me , besides how much weight is that opinion from a guy who can't use his own jack. LMAO
  13. I have been to the assembly plant in Cambridge and it is state of the art. Most of the work is all robotic . Few jobs on the car are manually handled. I wanted a Canadian built one until i did a bit of Toyota research and found the parts look the same side by side but when they are put together by the assembly plant they are not as close in tolerances. Cheaper metals in switches , different sheet metal is my biggest concern . BTW any vehicle with a multi panel sunroof is from Japan only. I am looking to buy an 04 RX330 for my wife but it is so hard to find the early 04's from Japan before the plant was at full steam . Otherwise i have to keep looking for the roof to set it out in an ad.
  14. Just for fun , i have a tank of reg in my LS , i run it once a winter , just to allow the computer to know the difference and change the timing . Does it need it probably not . Do i use reg , only on rare occasions like this. Is their a difference in price , yes . but it still lead to a pay me now or later situation. The power is usually decreased well with a high compression motor like an 98 and newer LS with drive by wire. Strange thing is last night i dropped it on the highway and i swear i have never been pressed in the seat harder than that. I did just change my plugs and the economy have lowered enough to be nothing short of amazing . I do have a hesitation and it is no longer as smooth which was instantly from the fill up. At first after the fill up the tranny usually is not as responsive as normal and is using weird shift points to compensate . Next tank will be 94 again.
  15. How would i know !?!?!? He parts out is300's ! did you want me to ask him for you as well ?
  16. The starter get the car going not stopping it , so it is not your starter causing the problem. Sounds like a wiring or computer issue. The key tells the computer which allows fuel and spark. SO some how you still have ignition and fuel going to atleast one cylinder . I can only think a damaged ecu.
  17. When you use the jack are you lifting the entire car up or one corner with only a few hundred pounds? The reason it fell over is because the car was not balanced. So after the first time it fell down it bent the jack as the car was slipping back. You have to block the wheels if you are on an angle to stop the car from moving or of course it is going to bend the jack and keep falling down. It was no surprise that the car fell down as you watched it slowly move and the jack bend each turn of the handle. I have destroyed mine doing the same thing , so i know what it looks like and why it happens . I was too lazy to do it properly and the car dropped as it kept rolling back . Come on now....... stop trying to blame someone else for your own mistake.
  18. The biggest difference is the sum of the parts . Both have the same specs for each part. The difference is one part is being made by a Japanese Toyota lifer . The other cars parts are made by the same plant that also does dodge neons and chevy malibus . The engineering and assembly is there but the people who build the parts to an exact specific is not there. What can you really expect when you are paying someone $56 000 to tighten a few bolts , they have to cut costs somewhere to give the unions.
  19. sounds like a fuel pump. Did you try to give it gas after starting before it dies
