  1. This image may not be perfectly accurate, as no mention is made of the year of RX350 but you can check. Lexus RX350 Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement Cost Estimate (repairpal.com)
  2. A vehicle with salvage/rebuilt title has historically been valued at 50-60% of a "clean" title vehicle of same or similar make, model, trim level, and mileage. Based upon my conversation with a very experienced auto body shop technician, try to stay with those vehicles that had rear damage, not front with air bag deployment. The "before" repair photos can be very helpful. If possible, take it to an auto body shop for inspection. I bought a 2008 Mazda MX5 PRHT, back in 2012. It was a salvage vehicle with slight front and mostly rear damage. It had 42,000 miles on it and it has been almost bulletproof for all these years. One suspension component had to be replaced but everything else was fine. Check with your insurance company to see what value they would place on your possible purchase.
  3. For just a few days or less of travel, I'd take an LC500h. 😏
  4. My guess is that there was a coating on it, so if you do use a headlight lens restoration kit, you may be able to use the liquid surface protectant, also. I don't know if a clay bar will do any good but certainly the surface should be very clean. Maybe some dishwashing liquid and water followed by a water rinse would clean it, well.
  5. No, but consider this: There are RX400h owners on this forum who have over 260,000 miles on their odometers. Unless you have hit 300,000 miles on your RX, I don't think you have anything to worry about. A gradual drop in mileage over 20 years and many miles is normal. The same thing happens to your cell phone and laptop batteries.
  6. You should be able to check the code number and then clear it with an OBD II scanner. But also check the water level in your battery, and it's date of manufacture. Knowing the code and looking up what it means is important.
  7. It may be able to be sanded and polished like a headlight cover but I haven't read about anyone doing this, yet.
  8. So get it up to about 140 mph in a hurry and that should fix it? 🙂
  9. The Fiero and Saturn bodies were plastic but the corvette bodies were always a composite, possibly including fiberglass.
  10. Aluminum is non-magnetic. Could that be the material? Some vehicles' lower sections are made of plastic or composite to prevent rust from road salt.
  11. $5000 for replacing an oil pan gasket? I've helped a friend replace his transmission gasket and filter; that was not difficult, but I'm baffled why an oil pan would be so hard to remove and its gasket swapped with a new one. I suggest getting a quote from both a Toyota dealership and a trusted independent auto repair shop.
  12. I have read the same - There is no actual fix for this problem. Apparently, Lexus has revised the actuator more than once, yet have not been successful in permanently fixing the problem. I wonder if your dealership would loan you a car to use until a fix is designed.
  13. Perhaps it'd be worthwhile to give them a call to see if the only reason they state that is because of one or more features wouldn't work. It wouldn't hurt to call.
  14. Have you checked out Crutchfield.com? They are experts at car audio replacements.
  15. If your owner's manual does not specifically state that your engine can use E85, then either have it siphoned out or try Lex Lex's suggestion about filling up the tank with non-E85 gas and use it up as soon as you can.
  16. Is your reason because of your garage door height? If so, that can be adjusted.
  17. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe I had the dealership do this when some other service was done. However, I found this: Getting Started - Adjusting Tailgate Height First, locate your Lexus' tailgate operating button up under the rear part of the tailgate when it is open. Pressing that button causes the door to begin to close. A second push will stop it. Use that second push feature to stop the door when it has lowered to the height that is right for you. If you are short of stature and can't reach it, we suggest asking a taller family member to help out. Adjustment Height Is Easy After you have pushed the button a second time and you are sure it is the height you would like it to open to in the future, simply push and hold that same button again for two full seconds. We suggest counting off "One chimpanzee, two chimpanzees", but use your own method if you so prefer. Once you have held it that long, the RX or NX is going to buzz at you. Don't take it personally. It might (should) buzz four times to let you know that it has accepted your settings. Now push it once to let it down and try it out.
  18. The advantage is primarily, cost. You can get a high-quality filter with o-ring for less than $8.00, whereas a traditional high-quality filter with steel housing can easily cost double that.
  19. Sometimes when a battery has one or more bad cells, a vehicle's dash will show one or more warning illuminations. Did you have your battery load-tested? Another potential culprit may be wiring that has been damaged, water-soaked, or chewed up by a rodent.
  20. You might want to review this video: https://youtu.be/niKAYNDFhHM Lexus ES350 AC not working - causes and how to fix it (wheelsjoint.com)
  21. How about KYBs? I think they are available at rockauto, com
  22. I have never had that happen with our 2006 RX400h, and I have always replaced the batteries. But take a look at this: Lexus Won't Start After Replacing | Disconnecting Battery (youcanic.com)
  23.
